you will need a very good Hotas to add all those radar buttons or the arcade fighters like F15 / Su27 will kill you for sure
your tutorials are the best! I really wish you would revisit the mirage for more since it is finished now!

To use the 530 you need to be in PIC mode on your radar by locking the target once again.
You were on PID mode at your first try, this is why your missile didn't go to the target.
On the HUD the little circle need to be in the square ⬜ just like on your second attempt.
At least good video we are waiting for AirToGround tutorial as well :)

I rewatched the video and I observerd that I was in the PIC mode the whole time.
However, it seems that the first missiles seeker didn't pick up the target (maybe because the radar return was to weak) at the launching point.
At 4:40 you can see that the second missile switches from seeking to lock as the circle goes from flashing to solid inside the box.
I added some onscreen text explaining my mistake.

These missiles seem to work much better at high altitude (50,000+) and high speed (400+).
+White Eagle Yeah, did some more testing while uploading and noticed similar stuff. Higher alittude gives much better range.
question please how do you lock the targuet on the radar using the keyboard.. i mean the line to loked in the bottom radar please !!
+1 sub! I only still have one problem. The hud doesn't show that small circle inside the bigger one, is that the reason I still miss my missiles? Can you discribe what i'm doing wrong (if you now it), please? (Sorry for my bad english)
+Thierry Wagemakers Do you have the Master Arm enabled and the Super 530D loaded onto the aircraft? If there are no 530Ds aboard the aircraft the HUD will look like it does at 5:31.
+xxJohnxx thank you very much for the fast reaction. I can perform all the steps, but if i fire the missile doesn't follow the target. I have installed the super530's on the mirage but i still have the problem. I don't know if it's useful but the hud shows a little square outside of the big circle, I think path of the target, and i don't know what that means. I only know that your hud don't shows it.
If you don't know the solution, it doesn't matter than i will make an account on a forum and ask other poeple for an solution. I think i'm making a very stupid mistake.

Yeah, I fear I might have to pass on this one. I haven't been flying the Mirage in a while and there where some changes made to the aircraft and especially radar/hud.
Asking on the forum probably would be the best thing to do though! ;)

I think i've got the solution, i think I only have locked the target one time and you said in your radar basic video that for weapon engagement you've locked the target for an second time. Tomorrow i'll try another time. Again thank you very much for your fast reaction and for making these very helpfull video's!
Whats the max range of the Mirage' s missiles?
Are you planning on a video about CCIP/CCRP and ground radar?
+Daniel Solbrekke Yeah, planning to at least. However, not to sure if both systems are implemented and working as of yet.
+xxJohnxx I've tried CCRP and CCIP and seems to work just fine. Haven't gotten any time to read thought the manual just yet. And I didn't actually know the M-2000C had a ground Radar before I watched your radar basic video :) keep up the good work my man :D

Yeah, it even has some special "ground avoidance" hud modes.

Hey John, great video. I can't seem to find the key to get me into the TDC mode, like if I press the keys to move it it simply won't . in your video you start moving it but I am not sure how you get that going. am I missing something? (I obviously am..). Keep it up all your videos are great an I've learned tons from them.

Speed is set to 1, and Smooth to 10.
For fixed wing aircraft I use the slider on my Warthog HOTAS, for helicopters I use the POV hat.

At 1:20 ish you say it shows the target is moving a 710 knots... Is it really the speed of the target or your closure rate?

when you fired the first 530, your HUD showed a flashing circle. In Reddit someone guessed that it would be in "Seeking" mode.
When you fired the second 530, the circle was locked on the target (inside the TD box) and it hit.
Would/Could this be the case?
+juuba Thank you very much. Yeah, I guess that is exactly what happened. Seems to me that the seeker was not able to pick up the target earlier, causing it not to have a lock.
Wasn't aware of that bevore recording the video, however I added some text annatiations to explain what happened.

If there's no countdown till impact, how do you know if the missile missed?
Visually. You look out the window, and if there is no splash you missed. Similar to firing mulitple missiles in the Su-27 for example.
