    Thanks for the info. This is making the mirage look like a possible buy in the new year sales. I would love to see CA or LOTATC and SRS combine forces to make this GCI role available.
    Would also be cool to see the datalink system on the tomcat similarly send commands to the tomcat.

    I feel like the reason they made this feature for Mirage despite it never being fielded is because it's highly analogous to the Lazur system that their upcoming MiG-23 was integrated with - and Russians did use the system, in fact it was what made aircraft like the MiG-21 even remotely useful in the 80s. So now they're gonna have a good framework for GCI datalinks

    • @alpha_juliet

      i was looking for a comment like this. It's been stated before multiple times that russian cold war doctrine revolved around CGI. Given how blind Mig 29s and Su27s are at the moment, getting something of that sort would be a huge boost to their capabilities.

    First, very cool video!
    Second, very cool features!
    Third, I did not understand it very well 😅
    I mean...I can't imagine how this will work on MP. You sad that it does not need any special implementation or configuration on ME, that's means that (if enabled), on any server I will join I will be able to use it? If yes, what information will it show? And based on what? How to know on which frequency to tune/choose from?
    I simply not able to see it applied on a real server that you will randomly join, I may be stupid :/

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  2 года назад +5

      So the Kneeboard automatically populates itself with radar stations and sets up the channels with radar frequencies for you. Starting with the closest, until it runs out of radars or channels to fill.
      Neither you or the mission maker need to configure anything extra. All you've got to do is pick which number you want to tune to. It will work in any server as long as your jet has the panel!
      Re-watch the beginning, Where i tune it, i apologise if i was a little too fast.

    Isn't this something you can do with the f15 I think they do it with the f35 sending the data

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  2 года назад +3

      Sort of. So the F-15 uses Link16, along with most other modern US fighters. (I presume the F-35 uses something more advanced) This is a network constructed of many, many donors all interchanging data to draw a big picture.
      The F-15 we have in DCS unfortunately pre-dates / doesn't feature Link16.
      This system on the older Mirage however, is simpler, the ground radar station is simply telling the mirage hey, I've got a target for you. Here's where it is, and instructions to intercept. It's a guidance system not a situational awareness network.

  • @SnowTiger45
    @SnowTiger45 2 года назад

    It sounds like a Cheat Feature if it's not actually being used INL or not currently found in any aircraft.
    We can't even get top grade fuel for Mustangs that did exist during WWII (regardless of actual quantities). It was available but ED wants to keep the Mustang and so many other aircraft modules neutered.

    • @Chwibon
      @Chwibon 2 года назад +8

      It was evaluated but not fielded (but still wired in the aircraft, while GCIs were not equiped), mainly because it costs money and provides not much any advantage over a well trained vocal GCI. The DCS version is no different, it can be disabled and will provide a picture not as clear as a good LotATC/SRS GCI human player.
      It could also be said that no IRL interceptor were ever sent without a vocal GCI operator... So flying alone on a PvP server without a true ground operator should be forbidden as irrealistic :P
      In that case, the TAF is a good, plausible and documented alternative...
