Rebecca; you and Josh were amazing on AMC! I was so wrapped up in your characters at the time. Amazing on any soaps I’ve seen you in. Thank you Maurice for this great channel and bringing guests such as Rebecca here to bring awareness. I recall having postpartum depression after my first baby. I had no idea why I was crying at the drop of a hat when it should have been the happiest time in my life. Thankfully I saw my Dr before the “normal” 6 week checkup and he knew immediately what was going on and he was able to explain that I had been through such a high risk pregnancy and it all was catching up with me. I was so glad to know it wasn’t abnormal or alone; I felt so isolated. I was put on a small dose of an antidepressant and it eventually worked; was able to go back off after awhile. Wow; hearing Rebecca talk about her personal story was amazing. Again; thank you Maurice! You matter more than you realize! ♥️

Thank you so much for sharing your story Rebecca. Truly inspiring and impactful. It reminded me of when I couldn't breastfeed my daughter how I blamed myself so much and I was so hard on myself because I felt I couldn't give what she needed. This conversation impacted me on so many levels. Again, Maurice Bernard I thank you for bringing state of mind to us.... its very helpful to many on so many levels. Love you both.

I connect with Rebecca regarding post partum....I had my son at age 19 in 1970....I sobbed in secret.. I failed at nursing and I couldn't connect with my baby....no one seemed to care about me .. only my child. I played a good mother in public but didn't feel that connection for years! Back then, I couldn't admit it to anybody. It is very real and debilitating.

The part where you spoke about how your baby or your family could save you but when you feel as if you are a burden to them, that's when it gets harder with the possible suicidal thoughts. And when Rebecca spoke about shame, I understood that. No matter what your mental health concerns are, whether it be postpartum depression, anxiety, PTSD or whatever, getting help is so important. And having places to go like your podcast Maurice helps so much. Especially for those who may not have access or funds to pay for it. Just knowing you're not alone means so much. I had some postpartum after my daughter was born because I had a past that included a teenage pregnancy/abortion situation and after that a sexual assault/rape situation. I had not had any therapy for any of it. I managed to get through it but not always very well. Jump to decades later I finally sought out a good therapist with the help of my husband and grown kids. I had some dark days but I knew I was loved and they never made me feel as if I was a burden to them. I was blessed. Many people out there are not. Thank you for this interview with Rebecca. It was amazing. ✨💌🤗...*and I agree, acupuncture is so incredibly helpful, I swear by it*.

I’m so glad she is sharing her story. I had PPD on top of PTSD from a traumatic childbirth experience, and my son was premature. All of this compounded that first year, along with my immune system was shot from it and I was sick with everything from pneumonia to Mono. When my son was 5 months old and he started screaming every time we tried to breastfeed, and I was already struggling with my supply, I just started to spiral. My son is 7 now and I’m just starting to feel like I’m fully out of it, and that took a ton of medication changes, therapy, OT, and even non traditional therapies and treatments for depression and anxiety. Just hearing Rebecca’s story, and feeling the pain she is still experiencing, is hopeful knowing that I am not alone in my experience. I have wanted to start a blog to document my experience and what I am still doing to work towards my mental and physical health so that I can maybe help or inspire others.

I'm late watching. I was so happy to see her on! I love her!! It killed me when she talked about her post partum. Omg! 3yrs?! 💔😥
2 months is to long. It broke my heart for her. I loved her so much as Greenlee on AMC. Was ecstatic when she came to GH. When I first saw her on AMC I thought she was so very beautiful & of course she still is. You can tell it still hurts when she talks about it. It's so heartbreaking. She had no help. 😢When she cried It tore me up. She probably had so much guilt & sadness during it. She did miss out on alot of joy. I have missed her so much. She is the greatest actress. It was so good to see her. My heart goes out to her for what she went through. Her little girl is so beautiful & you can sure tell how much she loves her on IG. So kool that she is close to Michael Easton in real life. She seems so sweet & precious, & I wish her so much joy & happiness. Thanks for getting her on @stateofmind Maurice. Great guest!❤

I can totally relate to her on such a deep level. My second child, I dealt w/a little PPD, & went to therapy & was ok in about 3 or 4 months. My last child however - it lasted for 4yrs, & a LOT of mental trauma & feeling of being inadequate and a complete failure to not only her, but to my other two kids.
Something OB/GYNs do not brief you with is how much the breast feeding is pushed & that was a lot of my problem w/my second child. I didn't even try w/my 3rd, but the looks the hospital staff gives you, as well as how the pediatrician guilt trips you is insane.
Thank you so much, Maurice, for doing this one - more ppl need to learn, & those of us who have gone through it need to know we're not alone, or an anomaly.

I love Vanessa! I didn't have post partem, but women in general go through a lot when they have a baby, I had trouble around breast feeding that actually all worked out after I called the La Leche' League. My mother didn't breast feed us, so her advice was not sound at all, she told me that my being upset might spoil my milk, not true, and that something was wrong when the baby didn't poop at first, wrong again, they don't when they are breastfed because their body uses everything. Also she said the baby should be on a schedule of feeding every 4 hours, and with breastfeeding it is 2 hours and sometimes less. Your supposed to feed when they are hungry, not wake them up to feed, or really set a schedule. Also I was not prepared for how attached emotionally you are to your baby, and how you can have anxiety, as well as the baby when apart. I imagine a lot of what you experienced was very common, you just didn't know it. Like when it felt like the baby didn't want you, it was most definitely her responding to your anxiety. Babies need mom on a very fundamental level, no matter what. I did really well on my next 2 kids. And prevailed with the first one, just hard at first. Good show! I would like to know if Hayden on GH is really still alive? I think Victor has her!
