I used to think that furry hate was more of an internet thing, and people irl wouldn't care as much if someone was a furry. That was until I started college this fall. One of my classmates is very open about being a furry, so he unfortunately made himself a target for bullies.
I was part of a group of people (who didn't know I was a furry) who after only 1 day of school, started making this guy the butt of jokes. As the days went on, the behind-his-back bullying got really bad. I'm prettysocially anxious, so I felt horrible sitting back hearing them say things like "I wish I could punch his annoying face", and "I bet he's gonna grow up to be a pedo", and being to nervous to tell them to stop.
Things got much worse when people from other classes, who probably didn't even know this guy, started spreading rumours about him. One girl I didn't even know started grinning and laughing while telling me, "Did you hear about this guy? He draws young puppy porn!", claiming her group chat was spreading it around. I actually hang out with the other furry a bit, and I learned that he is very obviously a sexually repulsed person. People were spreading porn he didn't even draw claiming it was his, all for some cheap laughs and social clout. It was disgusting!
Since I was nervous about confronting these people about the situation, I reported it to the academic chair, who was very serious about it and quickly worked on resolving the issue. That situation definitely opened my eyes to how bad the fandom looks to some outsiders.
Sorry to hear that, even so try not to hate the aggressors. We are often products of our environment. I'm not saying dont hate the action, but try to not hate the person. Be strong! If you want to survive the zombie apocalypse you will need to be!
I feel this; I've been physically beaten and harassed over it for almost twenty years. My left eye's cornea was permanently damaged in a similarly driven bully attack, and every time I can't read something in my left field of view I'm reminded of it. I've even been laughed out of portfolio reviews as an artist. So yes, this garbage does impact peoples' personal lives, and it frustrates me immensely when I get told that I take things too seriously.

Two: I'm one of the ppl who once hated the fandom very much, sending death threats on a regular basis. And now I'm furry trash xD very much so in fact.
Three: I'm one of the ppl who say "Refugees are a cause of reason why crime and the Far right are on the rise again" but that's not necessarily the fault of the refugees. It's the fault of a head of state that let them all in without us having the infrastructure to care for all of them properly.
One: surprisingly there is a real condition where people have thier senses mix, so if that's not a joke you may have it! (Dont worry it's not bad or anything it's just abnormal)
Two: I'm glad you changed! Change is hard and it takes alot of work so I applaud you for that!
Three: when I used that phrase as an example I meant it more along the lines of "this nationality" rather than refugees or other circumstantial immigration types. But I probably should have clarified that so my bad!

@@jbrooks3125 You dont nessesarily act like an animal unless its roleplay, you just dress up as one. Its like football, you may dress like your favourite player but that does not mean you become them and start playing the sport.
A little things called the power of suggestion and implicit bias based on cultural profiling is the root of pretty much all illogical hatred in humanity. It’s happened throughout history, like when in WWII despite so many different people being killed en mass by the third Reich, it was solely the Jews that the vast majority people felt compassion for. Mentally troubled people and homosexuals? They didn’t give a rat’s ass about us. A lot of it has do to with a primal part of the human psyche that doesn’t like what it doesn’t understand, and fears things that are significantly different to what it knows. This manifests as hatred, like how also in WWII, Japanese people, even those who were US citizens, were forced to live in military camps. Seems a bit of a case of “you have become the very thing you swore to destroy,” eh? If only everyone could view the world like Mr Spock from StarTrek; logically, uninhibited by biases or negative emotions. Unrelated, but also at mental help places, you get grippy socks, which are fun, and great for waking about briskly in socks without risk of losing traction which could result in injury.

Definitely an interesting video but completely missed the point of furry hate... please allow a former furry turned anti-furry to answer this if I may.
I along with everybody else that hates furries, holds this hatred due to the complete degeneracy of the furry fandom that has been its very core since the 1980s. You don't have to spend very long on literally any furry artwork site to see just how sexualized and fetish filled the fandom is. In fact it's not even an appropriate to call it a fandom, it's more of a fetish. All the information and leaks such as the zoodonym stuff exposing furries and the fandom in general didn't exactly help this at all. And it definitely doesn't help, that furries are so quick to sweep this under the rug under the guise of avoiding drama or saving face.
Not trying to be a jerk, just helping you to hopefully understand why the hatred is there, and why it's justified. This is why we confront the furry fetish the way that we do unlike the way we do with actual fandoms.
