I know I told you about this earlier, but I learned about Kitty Genovese in my freshman year of high school... it was a real eye opener for a 14 year old kid, that's for sure. We had a classroom discussion about it, and while it was certainly productive there was a lot of shock and disbelief amongst the class that just kinda left us speechless at times.
What amount of people would risk there lives to save a strangers? I mean that is actually a pretty interesting question. Also, this was a great video Sundae! Glad to see your uploading again!

Ah! Finals season x-x so informative! What hit me was people not helping because of fear of legal harm.
There’s a common rule found in most states called “Good Samaritan” rules. The rule basically says that if you assist someone in dire need the way that a reasonable person would, and you act in good faith (I.e you actually were trying to help) then you are not liable for harm that may ensue.
Example: Someone is choking, you perform CPR incorrectly but to the best of your ability and break the choking persons rib. Under Good Samaritan rules, you would MOST likely not be liable for harm.

I have to admit it, I never thought that the bystander effect had such a gruesome origin, it made me reasoning about wich and how many theories have their roots in the darker side of human society, and how many of these problematics could be "healed" (passing the term) by nurturing and prompting a more sincere and coherent society.
Since I started my degree sociology (especialy Becker's labelling theory and Goffmann dramaturgic approach) forced me to put even everyday events in a different light, and it really sadden me seeing this world marching on the opposit direction of a unite socieity, fortunatly there are people like you that are a glimmer of light in the matter.
Gotta say it, your videos have something special: you put a lot of effort and passion in your work, making even a "heavy" subject like psichology much more lighter and enjoyable, that's something we all should aim to reach ^^
If I'd have to make a bet? I'ld say that you have the stuff to become a great teacher.

The Milgram experiment is such an interesting topic and I can't wait to hear your take on it. Maybe the following week, you could discuss the Stanford Prison experiment and how those are so closely linked. Did you know that after completing the Stanford Prison Experiment, Milgram called Dr. Zimbardo and said "Thank you, now everybody is so upset at you that they aren't bothering me anymore."

I remember this in psychology class. Humans are strange in how they respond to danger in a group. I think it is partially culture. In the US it can get you in legal trouble if you try to help someone, so people don’t try to help. Also self preservation, like you said about “is that person on drugs or actually need help?” Interesting phenomenon.
