Today we are hitting the road on this beautiful day to check out the small Oregon town of Hood River. We'll visit the Goodwill Boutique on Oak, Eagle One Thrift Store and then head over the water to the AMAZING (and one my new favorites!) Antique store called Antiques & Oddities. I found so many pieces that I could't even decide which was my favorite find 🥳

Your videos are so much more than just thrifted finds. We get to see a beautiful part of the country and sometimes get a little history lesson. I love how you commentate on what you would use a particular piece for even when you don’t buy it. I’m just getting into trying to keep real plants alive in my home and planters are expensive so getting something from the thrift store to use is brilliant!

Really enjoyed the pacing of this, and the connection and flow you present between "Hunt it/ Find it/ See it/ Buy it/ Style it/ Wear it/ display it/Love it" cycle of collecting and appreciating things, to enhance everyday life. Great drive, Great scenery, and glad you took the time to show us a FEW places! Some more curated, and some more wild! Yay! Sometimes when you are shopping I freeze the frame and just pretend I am there, looking and picking! Yes! I picked the black candleholder too! And of course the Italian Pottery vase! I like that you are using the sculptural pottery vessel thingie as a candleholder, that works! It could hold maybe a single stemmed tall branch with a few leaves? depending on what will fit through the upper part and feed into the lower part. Liked the peacock candle holder very much (The 3rd one you have found in the wild! Score-ola!) and YES to ALL the Yugoslavian wedding cups! You are inspiring and your enthusiasm is contagious, the same way you describe your dad, when you talked about the hands. Thank you, Laura!

I lost my wonderful precious mom and dad just 72 hours apart from each other my heart has been bleeding ever since. I think with those hands I would put a photo of them together and look at it knowing they are still together in the hand of the Lord for all eternity those hands are wonderful and what a wonderful find for you to have gotten them. I love to watch you on RUclips. You brighten my day!

Your Greek fisherman's hat is adorable on you. I spent 2 years of my life north of Athens, Greece. My 6th and 7th grade. My dad was a military Chaplain and we joined him there. We lived with a Greek attorney and his wife and daughter. The house was sealed into 2 separate sections so we had a house. We were 1 block off the Aegean Sea and lived around the corner from Onasis' sister. The Christina would be docked in the bay quite often. Great memories!! Love your videos and finds ❤

I was so happy to see you posted a video today. I was afraid with your move coming up you wouldn't have time. I enjoy your videos so much--your finds are amazing. It seems like you have a magic talent for picking interesting and unique items. Sometimes when you pick up something on camera, I think "no" but when you style it at the end I think "yes." I live in far Eastern Oregon and when I drive to Portland, I always think Hood River is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks.

Laura,I just saw in my ELLE DECOR,A SIMILAR CANDLE HOLDER BY A FAMOUS DESIGNER THAT SELLS OVER $2 000.00
I'm not really sure about this, but when you construct a clay vessel by hand, if it's a hollow vessel, I think (?) you're supposed to leave a hole in it somewhere so that it keeps its shape while being fired in the kiln. Maybe that explains the hole in your "primitive" candle holder. Or maybe I dreamed this in a previous life. I'd get a second opinion to be sure.

Laura, watching you to go into these places and decide what you should pick up is amazing. And then as you describe what you are taking home and what you are leaving and why, we learn new things. Such beautiful finds on this trip. I’d love to visit the west coast and go to some of these Good Wills and Antique shops. They really do seem a lot more exciting than the ones in my area.
I love your channel and your vintage finds. I am an architect and I also like compositions of paintings as you do in your living room. I also have a habit of moving everything around, when I find a new object or furniture for the environment. Anyway, if I were the winner of the hands I would put them in the dresser at the main entrance to my house. They would serve as a tray for placing keys, glasses, and even mail. They would be like a welcome invitation to everyone who came to visit me.
Hi Laura, I lived in Oregon from 1989 - 2005. First landed in Tigard and then lived in SW Portland, NE Portland till 2005. Moved back East from where I am originally from. Love watching your videos. Brings back so many happy memories, I have been to most of the places that you show. Found many beautiful treasures while living there. Best Rummage sales, thrift store, garage sales, antique malls. Brought a lot of these treasures found in Oregon with me on my move to NJ. Miss those day's of fantastic finds!!!!

What a great haul!
The hole in the top of the ceramic piece is simply for venting as the piece is fired. They would usually put this on the bottom if it doesn't need to hold liquids so must have been artistic license :)

If you can kayak on Wallowa Lake, you can kayak on the Columbia River; because of the dams, the whole river is a series of lakes. It’s not free-flowing water anymore, so as long as it isn’t terribly windy, it’s very calm.

My favorite piece was definitely the Oaxacan candlestick. I started collecting Oaxacan pottery years ago when we visited the neighborhood where this pottery was discovered . Dona Rosa and her family discovered how to make this pottery after a mistake in baking regular pottery. There’s a neighborhood that make this pottery. We visited one of the homes and that’s when I bought a few pieces and began my collection. You’re correct in stating they are pricy . Great find😄👍
