Feels like it’s been a while and I missed you all! Thanks for your all your love! Who wants to take a loom weaving class with me? 🤣 💙L
Oh definitely would if I were near you!! That is something I've wanted to do also. I'm also very interested in blacksmith work. Lol...but I know I don't have the talent for that!
I would love to but It would be a heck of a drive from Minnesota!! Ha!!
I totally would no promises i would probably need extra classes 😂🤦♀️
I want to learn to make pottery so much. That's my "goal". I was at Goodwill yesterday and found a pottery wheel inclusive of the clay and all....made for ages 7-12. I didn't buy it, but I sure wish they'd been around when I was young, maybe I'd be an artist now! Yes, I definitely believe you, of all people, can be a fabulous weaver. Too bad Missouri is so far from the Left Coast. I'd love to hang with you!
You could take a beginner's course on potters wheel and weaving??
If the dog is vintage, it’s a wire haired fox terrier, because firstly, schnauzers have bigger eyebrows and secondly, in the 30s onwards, wire haired and smooth haired fox terriers were very popular. Hope that helps.
Hey, there's a name for suddenly seeing something everywhere once you learn about it! "Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon (a.k.a. the Recency Bias or Frequency Illusion) The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, otherwise known as the frequency illusion or recency bias, is a situation where something you recently learned about suddenly seems to appear everywhere." Those college psych classes come in handy once and awhile. 😂
😆 Awesome!!
When I was in Guatemala I could sit for hours out on the veranda and watch the woman and YOUNG children weave. Their looms were large and their houses were small so they would weave outdoors. I saw a child as young as 3 weaving a pattern so intricate that you would have thought a well seasoned adult woman did the weaving. From very thin threads and color changes to lama wools and coats. Oh to have such talent. To me it appeared that they were working very fast to them they said it was long and tedious. No matter their work was amazing. As you know every Indian Tribe has their own colors and patterns and to this day I can still pick out the weaves from the region I was assigned to. To a woman wearing a Gray and White Habit every day, colorful clothes was a joy to see.
It`s great you love Bolesławiec pieces from Poland!
Up side UP!!! Loved doing loom weaving when I was in College! Careful! It is addicting!!!
I’m Japanese and I’m rediscovering and appreciating more Japanese pieces after watching your videos!
I think you pronounced it right! O-TA-GI-LI, is how we pronounce it.
Thank you!!! Love love love🥰🥰🥰
That's how I pronounce it too. ✌️💖
Laura, I just love your channel and especially the slow way you film with your camera, it truly feels like we are looking through your eyes!
Awesome finds! I think the white dog sculpture is of an Airedale or Wheaton terrier.
you can do anything you set your mind too... weaving is good to slow down the brain and relax
Laura, I think your desert painting from the goodwill is the San Francisco de Asis church in los Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. Georgia O'Keefe painted it beautifully.
Yes! I was coming here to say it the church in Taos!
Yes I am positive it is the
San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church in Rancho de Taos. I live in Santa Fe, NM which is about an hour’s drive. It is one of the most photographed churches and painted too!
Love Georgia O'Keefe, wonderful amazing artist.
@@lindagsmith7846 She was. I saw a display of her work in Ft. Worth years ago, Kimbell museum, If I remember correctly.
You definitely have the Midas touch when picking! Everything is fantastic!
That is a wired hair fox terrier. I had one named Sam when I was a kid. Crazy dog! She would bolt out the door all the time. I would catch her by finding a car on the street with an unlocked door. She’d jump in the stranger’s car as she loved car rides. Then I’d just pick her up and carry her home. 😂
Absolutely a WHFT!
Especially with the “Made in England” sticker. Lol
Laura, really enjoy your videos. Enjoyed when you were with Selena too. I hope you and your husband are settling in your new home and are enjoying your family.
I found an incredible large painting of the same church at a yard sale in Taos last Fall for $50. I had to leave the frame as it was too big to carry on the plane back to Savannah. The artist told me it was a famous church in Taos just down the road from the yard sale. We then visited the church and I had my photo taken with the painting in front of the beautiful church. Georgia oKeefe painted it also. I was thrilled to see you water color of the church from Taos. Congrats on a great find!
My mom used “florets wax” to stick the flower frogs down especially when you want it on the side. It was a soft squishy almost sticky wax, that came in small sheets. Warm a piece up in your hand & place wax on bottom of frog & attach to vase.
Wire Fox Terrier, I have 2 named Lucy and Ethel!
You should try Better Workd books. Always ship free and for every book you buy, they donate one from you. You also get points good for free books! I've been ordering from them for many months and have never been disappointed
It's nice to see an ashtray being repurposed as a candle holder.
I always feel like we are thrifting together…😎 so fun and great finds
I love going thrifting with you. You find the best things!
How interesting that the basket you just found likes just like a basket displayed at your old house.
I am new to your Channel and I just wanted to say thank you for polishing your vintage silver jewelry! I see other people wearing it online and they don't even bother to run a cloth over it. It really only takes itself towel you don't need anything special but I see you do more than that and what a difference it makes!
With a plant! So happy to see you back with another fun thrifting adventure.☺
You know it's a good thrift store when I like the things you pick up, but I'm also seeing a bunch of other stuff on the shelves that you leave behind. I'm like, "No, go back and get THAT too!"
I would leave the mat off the Matisse altogether so you can see more of the left and right sides. The top and bottom creamy paper would be just fine showing through. I love the green vegetation on the left that is covered by the mat.
If we're being literally, the white dog is a wheaten terrier. One of my faves!
Literal
I can see that, also kind of reminded me of a Bedlington terrier.
I bought the previous elephant, and I want this one too! Gimme!
Already GONE at $32. 😢
Right side up with a plant!
Funny how we go for the same things ! Gorgeous wood, elephants and exotic vessels. That white dog reminded me of a pair of scotty dog magnets my grandma used to let us play with when we visited. I think that we choose things that bring back fond memories. My other grandma had a family of beautiful wooden elephants that are now on a shelf in my home. Where I am, people will take items out of your cart if they think you have something valuable so I am always keeping one eye on my cart ! Thrifting was what I missed the most when we were on lockdown last year and I hope that won't happen again.
When I was a little girl, my fam lived in Germany for 3 years-dad was in the Army-while there, my parents bought an entire set of teak furniture. Dining table with leaf & 6 chairs, buffet, coffee table and 2 end tables. When I watch your videos, your teak pieces make me think of that furniture. I dusted those pieces for several years! And it’s so beautiful! Sadly, we have none of it left.
Also, I’ve heard it pronounced “Oh-tagiri.”
I just discovered your channel and boy am I glad I did! I am an artist and I see you know alot about art, artists and design. My new favorite channel!!👍🏻😃💕
Hey, Laura! Meant to tell you this. I used to teach art. Silver jewelry making, how to set stones, ceramics and pottery, and I had a floor loom once, but had to sell it for lack of room when I moved. Sigh...anyway, I use a table loom just like yours! Wish I lived down the road from you so I could help. Was also in the antiques biz for 25 years, and still love the hunt!
My Mother always told us, we can do anything if we set our minds to do so.
I think upside down! ☺️ It'll be unique as your channel has been for me! ☺️
Thank you! 🙏🏽
💛Maddy
White dog = Fox Terrier gets my vote.another great Laura video!
I scrolled down and read a comment. I have always heard Otagiri pronounced "oh ta gear ee." Someone else thinks it's pronounced differently. You find the best stuff.
Yes so far I have at least 4 pronunciations suggested 🤷🏻♀️ Guess I’m not the only one!
To-May-Toe...To-Mah-Toe...a rose by any other name, you know?! ...And, Laura is in fact magical at finding the best stuff!!!
GLAD YOUR BACK MISS YOU I LOVE ALL YOUR TREASURES YOU FOUND TODAY THANKS FOR SHARING LAURA 🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
Hi Laura, just wanted to let you know about that desert vibe watercolor you bought in this episode. The building in that painting is an actual church in New Mexico and the view is actually the back of the building. Georgia O’Keeffe painted a series of paintings of this building, Ranchos church. I was fortunate to be able to go and see this church in person. I think it is in Taos.
I've worked with crafting and crafters my entire life. My mother was old enough to be my grandmother, so she taught me how to sew, embroider, knit, crochet, mend, cook... we even learned book keeping together. Patience is number one when it comes to trying to pick up something knew. I remember exactly what my first attempt at knitting looked like. It was horrendous. But by the second year, I was knitting simple cable vests that I was proud to wear to school. A boyfriend's grandmother taught me a special crochet pattern for a pillow cover and I was making those for a year. My mother gave me a pattern for crocheting little bears and that year, all my nieces and nephews got personalised little bears for Christmas. I'm 53 this year and I think back to all the things I created with sewing and yarn and now, with oil and sodium hydroxide (I make soap, semi professionally now) and not every first attempt was perfect, but I learned something and that was the important part. Don't expect perfection. Just give yourself over to the process of learning and you'll start making something you can hold up and have pride in after a bit of time.
I saw a big set of your Fabrik dishes this weekend and thought of you. They were at the Children's Hospital Bargain Boutique in Redmond. They weren't cheap, but some cool pieces!
Mid century Norwegian Pewter, In my opinion is the best find !!! Thanks for sharing !!!
I was literally yelling at you thru the screen, “do not put down the elephant!” Sigh! “ I hope she knows what that is!!”
I think you will love learning to make pottery, so much! Can't wait to see your first pieces.
Great haul, Laura. Always try new things. In my late 60 s learned to paint on canvas. Love it.
Laura, I ADORE YOUR VIDEOS ! Your spirit for the Hunt & thrill for the Find just Brighten My Day ☀️♥️
I like the upside down version. Always look forward to your videos. very informative
I vote upside down, I'm with you Laura!!😊
I think the dog is a fox terrier, they are lovely x
O- ta -gear - ri.
All i know is that weaving puts a lot if pressure on the back, you might want to consider that before all, i would buy a small weaving kit and try doing small pieces from leftover yarn, like purses. Another fun project is punch needling. All you need is a wooden frame, stretch a woven fabric on it, draw u your design, get some yarn and start punching, great for mid century pillows and wall art. Glue the back and done.
I’m one of those people who wants to do everything, the difference is, you do it.
🤣🤣
Me too. I have so many craft supplies!!
jill552, Just do it. Can you imagine how great it would be and how you would feel if you did? I wish I had the nerve and confidence to just do it! ✌️🍀 🤗 xx
Henri Matisse first name is pronounced like “on -ree.”
I'll bet the maroon mat looked better before the print faded.
Call him Henry, Henri, Heinrich, Henricus, Enrico, Enrique or whatever you want. It has all the same origin. "Heinrich, mir graut vor dir !" (Goethe, Faust, Part 1).
@@fareast_de true, it does, but his was Henri , French pronunciation, as in “on-ree.”
@@kittyglitter8186 You´re absolutely right, Katharine ! It should just be a joke. Have a nice one ! Greets from GER, U.
Wood candle holder - upside down with a plant! Wheaton or Airedale for the dog.
I bought a lamp for the parts (turned an old piano leg into a lamp) I used the old base as a plant stand, viola!
What a doooowwwgg!! From Lady and the Tramp!! Lol 💕💕🦋🦋💕💕
Laura , amo tu filosofía de vida y por supuesto tu estilo...me encanta "salir de compras" contigo jejeje. Gracias por tus videos, son realmente inspiradores.
Welcome back! Hope your family time was fun, edifying, and full of love!!
Throwing pottery is like therapy. I've never tried weaving but I have friends that are amazing at it. Go for it!! I have no doubt you can do it!
I can literally watch your vids all day
Hi Laura 👋 like the Elephant, have a good time 😆
Finally! I've been going through withdrawal 😂😭
😘 Sorry! I took a week off to spend time with my family! 🥰 But I’m back!
LOL...me too..everyday I have been checking to see if there's a video ...Laura's page is like crack... man we are so addicted ..
Same, I even rewatched old videos this morning
Laura’s videos are so fab we all look out for them each week 😃💕🇬🇧
Withdrawal from the most fun addiction I'm sure! ...We're all major Laura fans!
Yes, Laura, we do have the best Goodwill's in the PNW!
It was such a fun Goodwill Day !! You found some super cool things ! I liked it with the plant 🌱,,,,,, an that Loom was an Amazing find ! ! Wow ,,, I sure hope you learn how to weave !! God Bless You an Yours ,,,Much Love ❤️ ,,,,, Diana
Wow! Your goodwill stores are priced sooo much better than texas stores. Texas goodwill stores are out oF control with their price tags. Cheaper to go to antique stores these days. Your stores look amazing!!!
My mom had a loom and took lessons when I was a teen. She taught me how to weave. We never made anything complicated but we had purses and wall art galore. 😁
That ichibana(sp?) Bowl vase was my favorite. ❤❤❤
It would look cool to float some flowers in the front part of the vase
Those Norwegian pewter pieces are super common here in Sweden, and they are super cheap, because no one buys them. Pewter is having a comeback here, but it's mostly the older pieces, pewter from the 70s/80s are still too close to home. I think too many of us grew up with a bunch of them in our parents home, as they were a common baptizing gift back in the days. So if you want to buy cheap 70s pewter (and brass!), come to Sweden! ^_^
I hope to soooon!! I’m a sucker for pewter even though it’s always flawed/dented 😆 I call it perfectly imperfect. I’ve got a trip booked to Europe next spring and really opening to make it to Sweden and Denmark 🤞
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 67 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 🖤🖤🖤
He's a wire haired terrier like Tintin's friend Snowy/Milou
Oh man that Mongolian hot pot was fab.
🙋♀️ Your thrift is always amazing when I start as viewers then I subscribe as I want to watch more of your interesting treasure you hunt in antique, yard sales, goodwill thrift store so unique and fun to watch on your video. 👏👍🤑✌
Laura, I took a pottery class at a college in Columbia, SC when I was 31 and love, love, loved it! So much fun! I'm 74 now and never regretted following my dreams.....
Hope to see how your settled in to your new home. You are so creative, it’s going to be beautiful. All the best.
The dog is a Wired Haired Fox Terrier. He's a beaut. ❤️
@@scherriray.raindrop yeah he's like a scottie but theyre shorter in height. Could be though.
Yes!! I am a savory girl too! I always tell my family no birthday cake, make me a bowl of onion dip and chips! Your style is impeccable! I have heard it said O ta gear E.
Yesss! Mashed potatoes was my request as a kid for my birthday! 😂
So much fun, Laura! I loved the art work, and I love what you did with it.
Can’t believe what great “good wills” you have. So funny I have started collecting vintage still flower art. Love your videos. You find the best stuff just like Tanya on free range cottage. Check her out. Your both terrific🤗
The mountain picture is beautiful
I'd say the dog was an Airdale terror, Schnauzer are normally darker colours.
Wow that lumen was a fantastic buy.
So many great fines in this haul. Xx
My schnauzer, Bobby, was white. Google it.
Looks like an airdale to me, too.
@@lyndakelly564 sorry didn't mean to offend you, in England I have never seen a white one. X
I grew up with a silver Schnauzer. I love their Elizabeth Taylor eyelashes. I think that this dog is an Airedale Terrier.
The pictures were fabulous
I would float some flower heads in the front section of the Ikebana dish. Love your finds!
Great idea!!
that cute planter at 3:31!! corgi or foxy so cute!
You are so thoughtful remembering what your friends like.
Your videos are always great but I especially appreciate your styling videos where you group items and stage your decor in such a skilful way. Id love to see more of this type of content if at all possible please because you are able to teach us to think outside the box and try different combinations. Yes indeed, life is short, so, if you would like to learn new crafts do it, dont put it off. You will be great at whatever you try. xx
My new favorite!
Plant is always my vote!
Do the weaving. It’s nice to have hobbies. Especially when your old. God bless.
Try the weaving, I think it would be so relaxing from your busy days!
Love the stand with the plant
You have a very classy collection of pottery and other media
You do you with the wooden thingy, it's more pleasing visually right side up...to me.
THE DOG is a Jack Russell Terrier. Remember Frazier’s Dad’s dog, Eddie?
Laura, you are so much fun to shop with! Like an ‘old friend’!Love and best wishes in your new 🏠. Would love to see more of it🤗.Can’t wait😊
The candle holder looks gorgeous with a plant 🪴 on top!
right side up on the wooden candle holder, with a plant. 😃 🪴
Loved it with the plant.
Hey girl! Seems like forever you've been gone. So happy you're back. Happy you were able to be with your family for the 4th.
Your wood candle holder looks cool bottom up or plant stand.
Xoxo
I have been longing for another video from you. I thought something had happened, but so glad to find this today.
No, just took a week of for holiday with my family 😄 But I’m back and I’ve got lots of content coming! 🥳❤️
