@sadiq2008 Actually the exact opposite. Capcom changed the formula because even they were getting bored of it. Res 6 was the one that tarnished the franchise. but clearly they have made the bounce back.

RE4 was a masterpiece, it totally revolutionized third person shooters with it's "over the shoulder" aiming system. Almost every third person shooter that has come out since has used the aiming system that RE4 invented. Gears of War, Uncharted, Red Dead Redemption, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc all owe a great debt to Resident Evil 4
Dead Space was directly inspired by RE4 as well

Thank you for digging up these old videos. I’ve must have seen them back in 2004 when it was posted on IGN I assume.
I still remember when i played it the first time it was a totally different experience for me it took me around 20 days to finish the game it was so intense and the story the environment it was scary at that time everyone was talking about this game ,for me the most disturbing part was playing through the island level i was too scared of the regenerator i just used to try to avoid him. Amazing game ♥️ i still jave the HD version

the island may have been short but it was my favorite part of that game I'm not saying the rest of the game wasn't good the whole game was awesome and scary but the island was the scariest part of the game in my opinion the atmosphere was the most unsettling

This is the best game i ever played in my childhood even till now. Because I loved the game so much and more the characters. I just loved the characters. They were awesome. 🤘🤟🤠. I think creators should make other parts also with same Characters like Leon and Ada.

Im going back to these videos just of the new teaser for the remake, I wouldnt think capcom would do a vid like this now but man It would be sooo cool to see them going back at reimagining and rebuilding the game that made everyone fall in love with the franchise as a kid I was scared playin on my WII and now as a 21 year old im more than excited to see this game as a grown adult, go ahead try me capcom scare me (PS its a joke dont scare me too much)

Actually you have to arigato Shinji Mikami for it. As creator of whole series and RE4. Capcom just make them money for it. They do not make a game they only sell. This was shown by the experience of those parts that were after successful RE4. I’m not trying to be smart ass just dot the “I”.
Because Mikami also worked on his game Evil Within at TG.and after he abstracted from the project, this series was also destroyed by making a stupid sequel. Someone may say that it was a successful sequel. But in my understanding it’s like RE6 right after RE4.

I remember first playing this game with my brother when I was 6/7 and he 12/13 which was 2006/7.
We've been playing it every year since then, just upgrading the platforms from gamecube, ps2, xbox, and now pc. I will never forget or get tired of this game.
Me and my brother just like you to my childhood on this game and now i have xbox x and i play on at the original one and waiting for the remake 💔

From everything I've read online and have heard, there were two or three entirely different versions of RE4 before the final product. And one of those versions, I think Biohazard 4, they found a glitch where you could hover in midair while shooting and that's when they decided to turn it into DMC1. Is the part about the glitch true?
Bro that's crazy, I have never heard of that shit myself. I only know of 2 versions of Re4, the final version, and the survival horror version with ghosts and tiny possed dolls that turned into DMC series. What is the third one you saw?? Also I didn't know about the floating mid air glitch either, sounds dope and would like to see it

Mastel Cat - Yes, I just found out. Many of my friends recommend it to play RE4 and I'm obsessed with this game.
After this game, I'm also watch other people play other RE games like Revelations 1&2, ,RE5, RE7, & RE2 Remake since I can't afford it to play it myself because I'm fucking poor.
Not like the other games, R4 character is more like Anime characters. So that's why I wrote this comment without knowing they made by Japanese.

RE4 was the 1st game on PS2 for me,,, and this is which made me later intrest in RE series.
And 4 me as a child it was a scary game tho, but ya mayb after village area, scary elements go lil down, but still scary.
personally once you get used to the gameplay and become above average with it, the horror element goes away. I mean the guns are so powerful once fully upgraded. RE4 is more of a fun action game than it is a horror game. Still one of the greatest games ever though. Capcom has always been a game developer that loves producing action games. You look at Devil May Cry, Onimusha, and Marvel vs Capcom, and Megaman. Not surprise, really.

RE1, RE2, RE4 are the original trilogy Resident Evil game to me. Director Shinji Mikami knows how to make a proper game. The Remakes are good too.

They should have put in real time night & day system like in Zelda games. If so the game would have been more alive & scary to give the player the sense they are really there. But instead the night & day is trigger by forward chapter progression.

It’s a in house engine, meaning not available to the public. Capcom never gave it a name either
Edit: nvm apparently it’s called “Softimage” but probably a really old version of it. It’s a discontinued software now.

the reason why i liked re4 more than re5 is because the "overshaking camera" angle and too much moving around in re5 is just too worst for me to handle.. re4 is a chill game but at same time its horror and scary to play
