my personal opinion: bosses look worse in the remake. I am not talking about graphics quality or texture but about general design (ex: the eyes of the chainsaw man) Also seeing so many tentacles going out as soon as we get to the village takes off all the mystery of the game (for the non initiated)
The originals still look great. Way ahead of its time. I played it when it first came out and couldn't believe how good it looked. Testament to the art.
I just finished the old remastered re4 on my steam deck... Amazing. I can play that game for eternity I've played it on every single device it was released on. Now I get to play the remake ok the ps5!
@@themoshpit8341 I tried playing the original on PC but the restricted aim range and camera made it very difficult to play on both the mouse and controller. I think it worked more for the gamecubes right C - Stick with the octagonal edges. The remakes controls and the fluidity of his movement is exceptional. I think it was a smart decision to not allow players to aim or shoot while crouching. That and the lack of prone work towards retaining the arcade feel. It will be interesting to see if the franchise ever adopts full freedom of movement like MGSV or The Last of Us Part 2. I think it could work for RE5 if they remake it. RE5 had some large open areas. Making it more open world with jungle stealth options would make for a very interesting game.

It's a lot more engaging and the parry mechanic is a great addition. If we're talking about Ashley specifically then I can agree that how she worked in terms of gameplay is better in the original since she stays closer to you. But I'll take remake Ashley any day. She's much better as a character.
I love seeing how far animation and video game graphics has gone; the texture, movements, expressions, and details create more depth to something classic. It makes the creepy look unnervingly haunted.
@@CursedRose200 Controls, movement, aiming, precision, player agency. Games feel more like something to watch rather than something to play and fully control. There is a lot of randomness and clunkiness involved that discourages high level play.
@Neam Raven video games are becoming more of a cinematic experience in general. Perhaps because of how the gaming industry changed through people watching walkthroughs versus playing the game more, I assume. Thanks for sharing, I don't always think of that side of the modern game creation
@@CursedRose200 Well, people are watching games, sure, but someone still has to play them. And playing them is the interesting bit--or at least it's supposed to be. We already have movies, so it sucks that games are losing what makes them unique. If they aren't losing it, they are certainly deemphasizing it quite a bit.
What i find more interesting is the animation comparisons between the old and the new. The Armadura for example used to move more like stiff robots. Now they actually move more like an armor possessed by something.
The remake looks even better. I feel like the new art direction and aesthetic is more realized than before. The elements of gothic, folkloric, and body horror are amplified and help convey the lore and backstory of each enemy more effectively. The greater variety of Ganados and Zealots is also a big improvement.
This is what every remake should be. Not some cheap remaster with a resolution boost (that can be done for free on PC lol), but a serious reworking of models, textures, and also of gameplay sequences and even at times story beats where it makes sense due to pacing and stuff. Excellent.

I loved this game so much back then, I played it numerous times and have always praised it. When I found out about the remake, I was very excited. I got it last Saturday, have played for 24 hours already and still have two chapters to go. It’s a masterpiece.
How similar they are from the original and the remake shows how advanced the graphics already were when RE 4 came out, and just how insane of a job they did with keeping everything to the original.

Eliminaron al jefe U-3, que, personalmente era el que me ponía más nervioso de todo el juego 😕 Una lástima, yo esperaba ver esa parte donde sale en el juego original adaptada al Remake.
U-3 fue un boss metido porque si en el juego, me alegra que lo hayan eliminado de la campaña principal, si lo agregan a Separate ways como uno de sus jefes principales y le dan un mejor lore tampoco me quejaría

Every video game with creatures should have a feature showcasing the creature models and show the true artistry that these developers put into these games, some of which gets overlooked in the fray of combat so it can truly be appreciated.

Hay un pequeño detalle: en la época que se supone pasa el juego (2004), la funda de piernera tipo kydex que le pusieron a Leon en este remake no concuerda con el año, en esos tiempos aún no existían ese tipo de fundas para pistolas

The Garrador introduction got me because I was like "Where's the fiery horse mouths" and then they went "he was the torturer of the dungeon" and literally dropped you into him. Edit: Also, this one made you feel worse about the Luis stuff. Luis became actually loveable in this one.
Yup, sometimes less is more. New one's got a more "gruesome" body but it makes it less scary, ironically. The old eyes were also weirder so it looked uncanny, that's a good thing for a monster... Same with El Gigante. Old one looks more brutal, and stronger. The hunchback makes it look weaker and the new design in general is very generic, could be a monster from any videogame, unlike the original design. It had personality.

Am I the only one that universally agrees that somehow, no matter how much more daunting and detailed the new versions look, all the enemy bosses In the original sounded much scarier? Much more blood thirsty? They just somehow seemed much more deadly and hungry for death with their low resolution graphics in comparison to the new version. Even though I love both games. It’s just an observation. Anyone else feel the same?

Every video game with creatures should have a feature showcasing the creature models and show the true artistry that these developers put into these games, some of which gets overlooked in the fray of combat so it can truly be appreciated.

Hay un pequeño detalle: en la época que se supone pasa el juego (2004), la funda de piernera tipo kydex que le pusieron a Leon en este remake no concuerda con el año, en esos tiempos aún no existían ese tipo de fundas para pistolas

Yup, sometimes less is more. New one's got a more "gruesome" body but it makes it less scary, ironically. The old eyes were also weirder so it looked uncanny, that's a good thing for a monster...
Same with El Gigante. Old one looks more brutal, and stronger. The hunchback makes it look weaker and the new design in general is very generic, could be a monster from any videogame, unlike the original design. It had personality.
Nothing wrong with preferring the old designs personally
Leon from the OG RE4 looks a little pale in comparison and the voice acting sounds WAAAY better in the remake.

En cuanto a residente evil se refiere el 4 me parece el mejor de lejos con respecto a los demás y con el remake revivieron al juego sin duda es un espectáculo volverlo a jugar pero con gráficos actuales 🎉

Am I the only one that universally agrees that somehow, no matter how much more daunting and detailed the new versions look, all the enemy bosses In the original sounded much scarier? Much more blood thirsty? They just somehow seemed much more deadly and hungry for death with their low resolution graphics in comparison to the new version. Even though I love both games. It’s just an observation. Anyone else feel the same?
