It's amazing to see the game evolve over the years, mostly for the better and for the worse during those RE5/RE6 years. I'm truly glad and thankful that Capcom has learned from their mistakes and brought back the series to its core whilst modernising the mechanics in a tasteful manner. I've never seen fictional characters that are so vibrant, so alive you almost could feel their physical presence and wished they truly did exist (hero or villain). I'll take the game to my grave.

    I'm more curious about some scenes and storyline that got cut out in the final version of this game. If you see the announcement trailer there's a couple scenes that never made it into the final version we later got, like Elena holding a lantern in some dark place/cave. I bet in the early development these side character has more important role or scene in the game.

      @kevinwillyshofmann 3 года назад +25

      @@MasterChris666 yes A LOT! A LOT OF COOL & SCARY STUFF! This game is 100% based on upgraded Resident Evil 4 formula. The briefcase inventory, the merchant, the rural village and castle, eastern europe folklore, gameplay mechanism, etc. In order to achieve and apply that formula, all they need is to toned down the scary or horror aspect from the game. Resident Evil 7 has amazing character development even for side character and main bosses. You can clearly see how Jack Baker character evolve during the game, from beloved and caring father to unstoppable maniac and later a redemption for his character during Ethan's hallucination scene when Baker told him to free his family. They should keep Richard Pearsey as the writer for Village. In Village all 4 lords has poor character development especially Beneviento. I'm hope there's a couple of DLC coming soon to fix the plot holes in this game and giving some characters moment to shine. I'm enjoying Village and really appreciate their hardwork when making this game, but to me Resident Evil 7 is more superior than Village.

    Remember this video next time you see someone argue that QA aren't real developers. It is very common for QA to be belittled, downplayed, etc. QA and a team that works closely with QA, listening to their concerns and suggested solutions, is the difference between a masterpiece and a complete disaster. RE Village is a great game because Capcom's dev teams trusted that the QA team knew what they were talking about, even if the news was not what they wanted to hear.
    Ex-Rare devs have said that QA is the soul of gamedev. At Rare and Free Radical, QA had final signoff. If QA said the game wasn't ready, it didn't ship. Why were Rare's games so polished? Because they treated QA as the heart and soul of a quality game. The reason why so many modern games are buggy or just wrongheaded gameplay-wise is because devs and publishers don't listen to QA anymore. (Except, it would seem, companies like Capcom, at least for teams like RE.) Free Radical clashed with EA because EA's people wanted to falsely close bug reports as fixed on TimeSplitters 3. And this was absolute heresy to Free Radical, but is a symptom of what has gone wrong with game polish. The QA department of any studio needs to be held in high regard, needs to be on close terms with the developers, and needs to be able to raise their voices without fear that being a "troublemaker" will get them laid off and replaced with yes-men contractors who will tell the devs and publisher that everything is fine.

    I finished the game three times on different difficulty levels, including Standard, Hardcore, Survivor. It was a really good experience, but one criticism I have of the game is that the character of Lady dimitrescu and her daughters could really be paid much better. The game was a 7/10 for me, its a solid experience. Not anything groundbreaking, feels like they took inspiration from way to many games and in doing so it doesn't feel original or a resident evil game at that. The village area in total is probably the best part of the game followed by the castle which would have been so much better if they had made it longer and fleshed it out more, the other areas of the game are average at best which make the replay ability of village not that great.

    The baby got crystallized, shattered into multiple pieces, put into four flasks (which are all guarded by Miranda's four heavenly kings). And if Ethan can collect all of them he can restore the baby back to how it was... who wrote this story, really? The game is fun but you can't expect me to suspend disbelief for this shit. You can see the game was designed for larger group attacks as the houses with blockable doors and boards and flour are never needed or utilized during the actual game -Except the very begining Village attack. In the main game there is no reason at all to use those houses "features" as you only get attacked by a handful of enemies at a time.
