That team was LUDICROUS. There were MULTIPLE NFL HoF'ers on that team. Not to mention NFL Pro-Bowlers and All-Pros. That team had FAR more talent than ANY Alabama team since. And it's really not that close.
As a Cane fan, I don't think fans of other teams really appreciate the Miami teams of 00, 01 and 02! Why do I say that? They don't understand how hard it was to build those teams! Miami was placed on probation in 1996. Miami is not the only team in the state of Florida capable of winning a national title. 96 to 98 Miami had 33 scholarship taken away, 3 years of probation and 3 years of bowl bans. Miami while on probation their fellow state rivals FSU and UF were in the best success runs in the history of their programs with legendary HC in Bobby Bowden and Steve Spuirrer. The 90's UF owned the SEC and FSU owned the ACC. Both played for multiple national titles and both won national titles. This is what Butch Davis HC of Miami 95 to 00 had to deal with coming off of probation in 98 with fighting FSU And UF here in Florida for recruits winning the way they did. Far as I'm concern knowing all that, Miami rebuild back to national power 98 to 00 is the great head coaching in college football history by Butch Davis and his staff. Miami take back over the state with Bobby and Steve there and the took back over college football. They should have played for 3 straight national titles and probably won 3 straight!

Even as a cane fan the we 'should be 3 time national champs' rings a little hollow: (a) 2000 - OK so the BCS computers did what they always did but the question is would the 2000 Canes have beaten OU? We will never know. Should they have had the chance ... maybe, for that loss at Washington. (b) 2001 - as much of a steamroller that the '01 Canes were they nearly screwed themselves against BC and Virg Tech. Too often the Canes left points on the field - how many time did they kick a FG against Penn State who they utterly dominated. (c) 2002 - just beat FSU and Virginia Tech again. The Fiesta Bowl they couldnt stop Krenzel running and scoring TWICE. The offense was pretty anemic most of the day considering how well they usually ran the ball - the Buckeye defense played a great game. Anyway ... just some thoughts.
The scores of these games don’t do it justice either. Larry Coker put 3rd string guys in and just went into a shell. The Nebraska title game was 34-0 at half. The Penn St game was 30-0 at half. If it weren’t for Coker we would have set all time offensive scoring records. Easily.

Miami hurricanes in there prime 🔥🔥🔥🔥
1. 2001 Miami
2. 2019 lsu
3. 05 Texas
Not bad
06 Florida is 3 imo
2018 Clemson is the best ever.
The BEST college football team ever!!! Their 2nd and 3rd team players could've been starters on any top 25 team..
Certain players for the 2001 squad combined for 43 pro bowls in the nfl.
best team ever
Break on down till the hurricane sound...CANES
That team was LUDICROUS. There were MULTIPLE NFL HoF'ers on that team. Not to mention NFL Pro-Bowlers and All-Pros. That team had FAR more talent than ANY Alabama team since. And it's really not that close.
We will get back there soon Mario Will get the program back
Favorite stat: they only gave up 17 points at home…the shock was that they gave up that many points
I just looked this up and you are absolutely correct...this is ridiculous
Thats right!! The best college football team ever...LETS GO CANES!!!
Any one saying other wise that this team is the greatest are haters and crazy af !
The best
Well you just admitted theyre cheaters, how many times have nebraska had their scholarships taken away? Stop cheering for teams trying to ruin the sport already lol
2020 bama was the best team to step on a field.
@@gibsondunaway445 That's the biggest piece of bullcrap I've ever heard on the internet. Go watch games from the 90s and early 2000s and see what teams were capable of.
Very well said
@@gibsondunaway445 the 01 miami team would have danced circles around them. Circles. Too much speed. Just as much depth. Only team that maybe would've been close was burrows lsu team and Reggie bush usc team
Can u imagine Vince wilfork coming at you 😂
Every time they pulled up a new game, all 6 of them: “THEY DIDNT HAVE A CHANCE”😂
Nobody talking about UDUB beatin them in 2000
Canes for Life!
Greatest team ever. 19 LSU is a close second
Nah, 2005 Texas
@@TheoSprinkles 19 LSU would hang 50+ on them
@UC7wkTtSE_XpgoEV0ICiyI6w lol I was 11 when texas played usc in 05. And I remember the game very well. Have rooted for Texas ever since. But that 19 LSU team was just unstoppable
@@djr2253 A mediocre Texas was a dropped pass away from beating that 19' LSU team.
19 lsu allowed like 25 ppg on defense 01 Miami allowed 9
The greatest college football team ever its all about the U
2000 WAS THE SECOND GREATEST,GO CANES!!!!!!!
How bout them Canes!
I think The Hurricanes should watch these games brfore they play NC. FSU Florida Nebraska BAM!!!! .......
Remember The Titans
2019 LSU played in the big east like Miami did they would average 80 points a game
No way lsu played canes wouldn’t get more than 20 points
❤💪🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Not one of the best teams the best team that ever played college football
Shockey wilfork a.johnson rolle Kellen reed taylor Vilma dj Hester ed.james gore Portis mcgahee Lewis McKinney sapp Wayne the petagree is undeniable
Even as a cane fan the we 'should be 3 time national champs' rings a little hollow:
(a) 2000 - OK so the BCS computers did what they always did but the question is would the 2000 Canes have beaten OU?
2019 lsu tigers
Lol doesn’t even come close to the 2001 hurricanes
I CANT RESPECT YOU IF ITS EVEN A QUESTION
They shoulda been playing Texas but they didn’t bother to win the big 12 championship
The scores of these games don’t do it justice either. Larry Coker put 3rd string guys in and just went into a shell.
The Nebraska title game was 34-0 at half.
The Penn St game was 30-0 at half.
If it weren’t for Coker we would have set all time offensive scoring records. Easily.
Thank you Butch Davis!
This was essentially an NFL team playing in college lmao
Go Canes
