It’s too bad this list was made before LSU finished their season because I feel like they DEFINITELY would have earned a spot on it.
I'm a Sooners fan and I agree with you on that.
And then Bama in 2020! I mean those were two outstanding teams!
Facts
I'm a clemson fan and you're absolutely correct.
LMFAOOO The U are the gods of the UNIVERSE!
Did they really put Texas 05 and 01 Miami behind Clemson? This list is illegitimate
NO
The 2 best teams ever are 2001 Miami and 1995 Huskers
@@samnickel6654 '01 Mia had the most future NFL talent, But ''Greatest Team''? Not even top 10
@@jamieborden9094 lmao. All victories other than one were by multiple scores... and all victories except for two were by at least three scores... but let’s just keep hating though
Seriously that miami and texas teams where loaded with nfl draft picks
That 2001 Miami team was unstoppable
No
saw them live, i agree
There is not one team on that list that changed an entire generation of NFL teams than that UM ,,,,team this is why FOX sports got popular... we can see the bias in this,,,
ut they were not dominant the whole season. What about vt and bc?
You guys on espn are high af. 2001 canes squad the best ever to do it. 17 first rounders... lol that’s all I need to say
I'm from the USC 2002-2006 era and I still say nobody had a recruiting class like The Canes of 1999-2003.. just stacked at every position
That and Nebraska.
1. Nebraska was back to back undefeated national champions in the 1990s
2. 1970s Nebraska is one of the only teams to ever beat #2,3 and 4 all in the same season- and it was never even close.
ya right miami fan
Nikki Heble go back to bed.
What there saying is not that Miami didn’t have the best overall team in the nfl but they are saying that in college they would lose to the teams above them
95 huskers at 4 is laughable! They were unstoppable!
They were the most dominant team in college football history and this is coming from a Sooners fan
Agree!
01 Hurricanes are definitely number 1.
Yeah right, the 95 Nebraska team would SMOKE the 01 Miami team
@@huskertinman3970 And how would they manage to do that?
1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers
They are #1
Yup bad memories going against them
I had to stop watching when they announced that they had the 2001 Miami Hurricanes come in ranked at #7. That is a travesty and is beyond laughable. I have no doubt that the 2001 Miami Hurricanes would handily defeat every other team on this list.
For real for real. That 01 Hurricanes team was dangerous, the defense only allowed 13 touchdowns that season while scoring 8 off turnovers is insane. They clearly don’t realize how dominant the 01 Hurricanes were.
@@christwarrior8501 But were they dominant the whole season in each game they played?
Florida State 2013??
2001 Miami probably gets my vote.
@Hector Rodriguez Maybe..With better coaching
The best no doubt .
IndyJones31 barely beat Virginia Tech and escaped Boson College. We’re talking about dominating teams here
Kevin Holdorff yes and with tons of players that went on to stardom in the NFL .. you are on crack .. 2001 Miami was a juggernaut .
1995 Nebraska is what u meant. Way better than 01 Miami they didn’t even come close to losing. 62-24. National Championship btw against the favored Florida Gators
You all forgetting 2019 Tennessee volunteers

we goin 12-2 bro wym
I’m from the future they’re ok

War eagle
The 2001 Miami team had 17 first round draft picks. There are many NFL teams that don't have 17 first round draft picks.
There qb and coach were garbage thou
Miami had the best recruiting class ever, not the greatest team.
Nebraska owns that category and it's not close. Greatest conditioning team ever and the best team[s] ever.
@@hainavidotcom That Miami team would've SMOKED that Nebraska sqaud!
@@dizzy911 No they wouldn't, Nobody could stop their Offense or Defense. They would crush any Miami team just like they did to UF's greatest offensive team ever. 60+ points and it was over before it began.
@@hainavidotcom there was more talent on the 2001 U then what Nebraska had period. C'mon man!
And the 95 huskers had 9 defensive TDs... dominating Defense people forget that because they ran for 400 yards a game and Frazier had 17 TDs and only 4 INTs while not being sacked the entire season
Facts are Facts!!! 95 HUSKERS WERE THE BEST!!
They did not have 9 defensive TDs, they only had 5. And they did allow sacks that season, the refs just didn’t count them as sacks for some dumb reason. That 95 Nebraska team is overrated and it’s not even funny. There are plenty of other teams that would wreck that Nebraska team.
Pretty good list. The 1995 Nebraska team is number one, though. They‘d beat every team on this list by 10 points or more seven out of 10 times.
Good list how
Miami?
The 1995 and 1996 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Undefeated for two seasons, no sacks allowed, beat apponents with no scares at all. 2001 Miami teams was great but they had a couple of close calls in a few games. Nebraske dominated everyone they played and it began the year they beat Miami that had a lot of NFL draft picks on it as well. So mu vote is Nebraska .
Pat Roscher 2013 FSU destroyed everybody and had their backups in at halftime every game. They allowed 12 ppg and had the best offense is college football history.
Ryan Diapoules Nebraska missed a 40 some yard FG as time expired against FSU or they would’ve been undefeated for 3 years in a row and had 3 national championships. Let that sink in
So TRUE!!!!!
@@chuckrambo4401 also,.... I still don't think Charlie Ward scored the TD late in the 4th
@Andre Lundy Nebraska wore Miami down with superior conditioning. The next season is when they blitzed Florida who was a very good team their self but Florida had no answers for Nebraska in that game. That Nebraska team didn't allow a single quarterback sack for a little over a full season. Miami put a lot of people in the pros from both the 95 and 01 teams no doubt but that Nebraska team was a beast.
That 01 Miami Team would have beaten anyone in that top 10 !
I know why would they put them at 7
@@ezxdray-jq3mh Because once they had a day like they did at bc or vt some of those other teams would have wiped them out.
2001 hurricanes #7?
Lol they on some drugs
It's just them being biased. They don't want to admit it for whatever reason, but the only way you can even rank them like that is if they blatantly ignore the '01 Canes and their accolades.

1. 1995 Nebraska
2. 2019 LSU
3. 1945 Army
4. 2009 Alabama
5. 2001 Miami
6. 1924 Notre Dame
7. 1971 Nebraska
8. 1991 Washington
9. 1968 Ohio St
10. 2005 Texas

2019 almost lost to a 2019 Texas. Haha you think they were on par with 05 Texas? And 09 Alabama almost lost to a lesser Texas defense than 05, with a trash freshman qb almost winning it until the turnovers in the last couple of minutes.
45 army, and 24 notre dame..... really?
That is a nice list. Well Thought out. Miami had a 56 home game win streak back then. 71 Nebraska most have forgotten about. No love for #8 now and then...... #10 would be my only ? but they had a heck of a football team...
@@whoamomma8050 got used to the system. Can you tell me any team that could stop 2019 lsu offense
I agree with all the Miami fans that are commenting. 2001 Miami had more talent than any NFL team could afford. Also, yes 2004 USC had a dominating win over OU in the Orange Bowl. However, they had narrow wins against bad teams that year over Stanford, Oregon State, Cal and UCLA.
right but this isn't "top 10 teams with most future nfl talent"...we're talking about the best TEAMS ever. 95 Nebraska was the most dominant team ever...and this comes from a Texas fan. Can't stand them...but that team, for it's time, was the best ever.
95 nebraska huskers is the best of all time. They had 33 people go to the NFL after
Miami had more number 1's to the NFL
Miami had 38 players drafted with 17 first rounders. And Nebraska only had 3 players go to the NFL
It should have been Nebraska 1 and 2
They forgot the 97 huskers
Nebraska: run the ball left, run the ball right.
How exciting 🙄
@@mg19cal that's the point! The defense always knew the call, and still couldn't stop them. That is dominance perfected.

2013 FSU is the best team ever. 2013 FSU destroyed everybody and had their backups in at halftime every game. They allowed 12 ppg and had the best offense is college football history.
IM SAYING?? How I leave them off the list
That Clemson team from last year was great but they aren't in the top 10. They had some dog fights with some teams and barely escaped. People only look at the Bama game but forgot the others
The 01 Canes almost lost to Boston College. It happens.
Almost lost to syracuse because Trevor got hurt and couldn’t play and we had a really good defense best d line and had a very good qb good wr core and a good running back
That 2018 Alabama team that they beat was stacked they had 5 NFL Wide outs a NFL Tight end 3 NFL backs a top pick on the offensive line. I feel like 2018 has the best win of any team because 2018 Alabama is the best team nick sabers every had
In my opinion the 95 Cornhuskers are probably the greatest college football team ever
I genuinely would love to see old "gold" teams matched up against modern athletes.
10/10 Arkansas today would beat '95 Nebraska. Not to say they're better, but the sport, the science, and the athletes have progressed so far.
On a macro level, the rules have gotten more strict, and more schools have programs that have spread the talent a lot more fairly. It's not perfect, but its getting slightly better.
@levivillars461 idk, the defense might not translate but that powerful run scheme would barrel over any defense today as well
2013 NOLES???? Every starter on that team was at one point or still is on a NFL Roster
Okay flip the 95 skers with 71. Look at the stats for the 1995 Huskers. It’s unbelievable also, 05 Horns and 01 Canes are ranked wayyyy low.
As a husker fan, totally agree. When I saw 01 Miami at #7, this list went out the window for me. In my opinion, it's close for top teams between 01 Miami and 95 huskers. 95 Huskers dominated their opponents more than 01 miami did, but 01 Miami did have 17 first rounders.
@elliott8596 that speaks to talent but not coaching or culture. If a team with as few successful nfl players as the 95 huskers did what they did there was certainly something else than just talent.

That was 1994 not 1995
Yeah that was the 94 season but they did have their back up rb in 95 if you consider Ahman green a back up. Just imagine if LP plays that whole season pry could have been bigger blowouts even though they win by an average margin of 38 points.
And at one point the were down to the third string walk-on quarterback. It was pretty impressive they went undefeated in 94.

2019-2020 LSU Tigers is now the No.1 college football team ever...Period, end of discussion
No
People say no but can't bring any reasonable arguments.
Parker Eddins since you brought such a compelling argument I thought I might educate the uneducated here:
2019-2020 LSU Tigers ARE the best team in college football period. Stats, awards, AND on-field play says it all.
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING HERE JUST TO SIMPLY UNDERSTAND THE ARGUMENT.
LSU runs a full NFL/West Coast offense (New Orleans Saints style offense) and playing that is much different throughout the game then all other colleges. Normally in college the team simply plays a certain offense/defense style and doesn't change throughout the game. LSU was the first team to ever do this, look it up because by now it's well documented.
This LSU team could/ should beat, what is considered to be the 2 best teams ever in college history ('95 Nebraska and '01 Miami), in a game. Yes, it is extremely hard to compare the teams. who would win, etc. but even being in that conversation (to me) is mind blowing and next to unheard of. Just for reference on one of those teams mentioned. The '01 Miami team had 17 first round drafted players, let that sink in for a sec. More than half of the first round in the NFL draft that year was for a player from that team, most of which are/ will be in the HoF.
Just to name a few on that Miami team: Jeremy Shockey, Andre Johnson, Ed Reed, Jonathan Vilma, Sean Taylor, Willis McGahee, Ken Dorsey, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Antrel Rolle, D.J. Williams, Vince Wilfork,...DO THOSE NAMES RING A BELL??? I can go on but at this point I hope it speaks for itself.
Every single one of them was on that team. This 2019-2020 LSU Tigers team is being talked about and even debated on being better than a team with that many HoF players on it AND HOLDS MORE RECORDS AND AWARDS OVER THEM...just to rest my case and put it into perspective.
@@corysonnier3248 lsu was awesome. But simple for the reason 95 Nebraska crushed everyone. Tommie Frazier was a crappy thrower, but it didn’t matter, because Nebraska with Tommie, Lawrence Phillips (best RB), and Ahman Green, with a crushing OL, simply ran through everyone and one could stop them. All year, in fact, the OL would tell the DL the play and still no one could stop them. Not one sack all year. Have all the all American CBs you want, but they aren’t worth much of the offense could run it through you all night. It’s the same for defense. Danny QB was the most efficient passer in NCAA history, but it didn’t matter, because he spent the entire evening on his back. They had no run attack and finished with NEGATIVE 28 yards.
Nebraska was a machine. All week long, they were saying Nebraska had no chance. It was over by half time.
Now, on all LSU draft choices. Incredibly impressive. Phenomenal. But as 2020 showed, all their great players were in that one class. Nebraska almost won the championship in 96 and did in 1997. The talent was spread out but still there.
As a gator fan that’s a great argument. I’ve never seen a team go 5 wide like they did and just march effortlessly on top tier sec defenses. Joe Burrow is a bad man.
What about the 2008-09 Florida gators. That team was stacked
Flip the Nebraska teams and put Miami at 2 and some other changes need to be made but as far as top 5 that would help it

-nate21storm - Maybe it's because how much they destroyed Oklahoma by.
HipHopR&BLover Jon one game doesn’t make up for the whole season; even if it’s the natty game. This team had two Heisman winners and sort of struggled on offense
-nate21storm - They averaged 38.2 PPG which was 6th in the nation that year. They had 7 games where they scored over 40 points. They also beat the #2, #7, and #15 teams at the time.
HipHopR&BLover Jon they beat 4-8 Stanford by 3, 6-6 Oregon St by 8, and 6-6 UCLA by 5. Look at the other offenses on this list. USC scores 23 points in one game and 24 in a other. Let’s look at the lowest points each team put up.
1971 Nebraska: 31
1972 USC: 18
1995 Nebraska: 35
2018 Clemson: There lowest was 27, but when their quarterback wasn’t injured, 30
2005 Texas: 25, but scored at least 40 points in the rest of their games
2001 Miami: 18
1979 Alabama: 24

SEC 1st, Big Ten 2nd, then huge drop off. This isn't the 90s anymore where the Big Ten was hands down the greatest conference. The SEC is the superior conference in the 2010s and has the schools to beat. Doesn't mean the Big Ten sucks being second best right now, just that the SEC is in the drivers seat right now. It will swap conferences like it does each decade. In conclusion, the SEC is the best conference right now. It hurts to say it, but you're in absolute denial and lying to yourself if you think otherwise. 2019 LSU & 2020 Alabama were both teams that could easily be put on the list of the top 10 greatest teams ever.
They also lost 35-21 at home to a 7-5 VT team.
How did the 05 Longhorns fall behind the 04 Trojans when they beat them...04 Trojans was practically the same squad in 05 when Longhorns sent them home as losers
I know, the reason why they were calling the 05 Trojans the greatest team ever was because the Heisman winner and team that won the 04 championship came back, older and better.
How is the 97’ wolverines not up here? This list seems like they just pulled the teams out of a jar full of other undefeated teams and threw them up here
That close win over a decent Washington State team in the Rose bowl, in my opinion, takes them out of the "great" category. The same can be said of the 97 Huskers and their close game at Missouri. Good, but not great.
01 Miami Greatest team of all time 🐐squad
Exactly not even close.
This is what folks are missing here. First off this is ESPN so I’m not surprised they came up with a shitty list like this. That being said that 01 squad was the best in my opinion because they beat you in every aspect of the game period, huh last time I looked that’s a team effort all around. What other team on this list could say that. I keep hearing offense and defense but what about all around. Most these teams on here were one dimensional. That is hardly great in my eyes.
01 Miami was indeed dominant but if you watched football back when the 95 huskers played. Haven't seen dominance like that since and not even a husker fan.
@@chriscus1474 Hurricanes had an NFL roster in college
01 Miami beating 19 LSU ANYDay
1995 Huskers was and is most definitely the Greatest team to ever Walk on a NCAA Field. Tell me that any other team on that list goes into a game knowing if you can stop the Run you will DEFINITELY BEAT your opponent!!! Still nobody could come close,...... Even when they stacked the box with 10 or 11 guys!! Still a gain of 3 or 4 or 15 or a 75yrd TD!!!!!
@I need a name 1994 had Warren sapp and Ray Lewis. By the 4th quarter, Nebraska’s OL with 3 first team all Americans on the line was running through them. And they knew they would. Nebraska was far better conditioned, and Miami had no idea what it was like to go up against that.
@Painpanther No, they wouldn't. 95 Nebraska is the greatest team ever. Mike Live is 100% correct.
95 nebraska huskers is the best of all time. They had 33 people go to the NFL after
@@snurfg "01 Miami Had 38 draft picks including 17 first rounders.
@@alaskaguyd963 Miami always dreamed of beating the huskers
2013-14 msu? 1966 msu?
I’ll give you 71 Nebraska, but 01 Miami is the best team ever assembled on paper. Yeah, I could replace Ken Dorsey at Qb and still win a trophy with that team. 7 first round NFL picks on the defense alone. 38 NFL draft picks from that team. I would never say the best college team could beat the worst NFL, but this is the closest it comes. If Miami had a better QB...say Chris Weinke from FSU or even a young Tom Brady from Michigan (notice I’m not naming big name Qb’s then, just ones that could lead the team) this would never even be an argument. And I still don’t think it’s an argument. Frank Gore (who’s the 4th leading rushing in NFL history) is the 3rd string back behind Clinton Portis and Willis Mcgahee. Jeremy Shockey and Kellen Winslow are TE’s. Vince Wilfork and Jonathon Vilma are LB’s. And you ready for this? Philip Buchanan, Ed Reed, and Antrelle Rolle are in the secondary! Once again I’ll give you Ken Dorsey is the QB and that’s the only single argument you have, but this Miami team is the greatest team ever
In other words, frank gore hardly hit the field, so so what. Greatest roster ever. But that doesn’t mean they were a TEAM.
1994 Miami had Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis, but Nebraska had 3 first team OL’s that played as a TEAM and were far better conditioned, and by the 4th quarter, they were rolling over Miami at will (which was the game plan). Nebraska had another little advantage - Tom Osborne.
And all star DBs. Ok, awesome. But it doesn’t matter if your DL is getting crushed and you can’t stop the run. Put in any QB you want. In 95, Florida had Danny, the most efficient passer in history. However, but against Nebraska he spent the entire evening on his back. All star RBs (Nebraska had Lawrence Phillips, who Saban said was the best RB he’s seen, and Ahman Green as back up), but what good is a great RB if they are hammered at the line of scrimmage and your OL is getting obliterated and RBs have nowhere to run? Florida finished with NEGATIVE 28 yards rushing.
@Christopher Smith Exactly, which is why Miami almost lost to Virginia Tech. Meanwhile, 1995 Nebraska didn't have anyone get within 14 points the entire season. They were complete, absolute, play for the team.
Gotta give that dislike for that Miami ranking. Without a doubt, the GREATEST college football team of all time. Unbelievable that they are #7
Amazing, a team that loaded underwhelmed so often during the season..These are the greatest TEAMS..2001 Miami and 2019 LSU had the most TALENTED teams. but I'd take most of these top 10 teams over 2001 Miami..
@@jamieborden9094 Exactly it is did the talent on the 2001 Miami team play to their potential each game.

The top 3 should be:
3. 2005 Longhorns
2. 2001 Hurricanes
1. 1995 Huskers
Also, 1974 Oklahoma should be up there over 1956 Oklahoma because they dominated everybody that year by an average of FIVE touchdowns a game! And that was in spite of being on probation and not having a single game aired on TV.
I really think Oklahoma '78 was the greatest Sooner team of all time, and that the '71 team was second...but the '71 team had the misfortune of having Nebraska on the schedule, and in '78 Nebraska played way over their heads to upset them...then lost to Missouri the next week.

How about the 1985 Sooners team they were really talented with Keith Jackson at tight end and Tony and the boz on defense
Is this a joke putting the 2001 Miami Hurricanes 7th. They would have crushed every team you put on front of them and you call yourself's expert's
