- Johnny Depp's lawyers filed a motion on Tuesday to strike Amber Heard's counterclaims, arguing that Heard has not proved that Depp's lawyer Adam Waldman made three alleged defamatory statements with actual malice. His team also argues that Depp never saw the statements that Waldman made about Heard.

There is no joy in this case. Amber Heard has set back women's claims of domestic violence by 50-100 years. On the other hand, Johnny Depp has brought to light men being victims of domestic violence, but it shows just how hard it is for men to go to court for it.
If this nonsense set women back that many years that only means they were weak to begin with. Women are stronger than that, stop projecting one crazy womans agenda on to the entire gender. The only way she sets women back is if they blindly supported Amber before any proof was available.....

It's already hard for women to go to court over DV or SA because we still have to bring the proof. She just makes the justice system a laughing stock for other people in other countries to mock.

Nah I disagree. There were many objections called by Johnny's lawyers she should have sustained but over ruled. She was given legitimate reason to strike the counterclaim but denied it. She is bias asf!!

I should make it clear I am heavily on team Johnny, but don't call the judge biased because she's not sustaining every single objection they're throwing at her. She's been fair (in fact from what I've seen, it looks like she sustains more of Johnny's objections than Amber's, and I've watched most of the case live)
EDIT: And also, she struck down both petitions to strike. She made it so that it's up for the jury to decide.

This is a civil case but I guess it will depend on depp to file for criminal case after this trial. If he has to file for it then i guess he won't as it would too much stress and detrimental to his career recovery (court cases affecting movie schedules etc). I agree. He surely gained more fans because of this trial. Many people, fans or not, will support him in any way they can. I believe lots of people have already watched his movies, bought Dior items, and downloaded his music. I will definitely go see his new movie to support him.
I think he of course happy and grateful for all the support but I dont think he really cares about being able to be back in a movie. They have a whole team of paralegals (people who get paid a heck of a lot less than they do) to do all of that research and prepare arguments for them.

I’m not saying they don’t do a good job but having worked with many lawyers and as a paralegal, I know that paralegals do a lot of the leg work. They’re like what nurses are to doctors. When you go to the hospital do you see your nurse or your doctor more?
Paralegals, interns or research assistants find all of the rulings that they are referencing.
@@ninaninapasadena5687 when they do the cross-examinations, there's no one but themselves to come up with stuff on the spot. Perhaps some paralegals do a lot of work behind the scenes, but your initial comment seemed to downplay the work they do as lawyers in response to a comment that said "being a lawyer is hard." That sends the wrong message. Paralegals helping prepare arguments takes nothing from the fact that being a lawyer is in fact a difficult job. A lot of work, quick thinking, split-second decisions take place in that courtroom.

A petition should be created for criminal investigation instituted ex officio against her, whose goal will be to explain the suspected crime of evidence manufacturing and perjury in order to obtain financial benefits!
No matter what gender, it's one of the most disgusting crimes, manufacturing evidence and falsely accusing another person of a crime, like in this case, of a domestic violence.

Different laws and basically court system and prudence for truth
In the UK there only has to be some belief of truth for it not be defamation. So using the balance of probability they determined that it could have been reasonable that Johnny depp had been abusive during his relationship with AH. Regardless of whether they were equally abusive or she was abusive during the relationship. We also don’t have a Jury in Civil cases it would be heard by a judge who would look on president and law.
He didn't even get a trial in the UK it was denied to even be looked at.
Remember he wasn't suing AH in the UK, he was suing The Sun magazine. Depp was never going to win that case no matter what proof he had shown the Lord. The Lord was from the same law firm as AH's attorney. The Lord's son works for talkRadio UK which is owned by the same person who owns The Sun.

Why is this case held in Fairfax, Virginia instead of LA California?
Because Fairfax is where Ambers op-ex was “uploaded”. So that’s where they have hear the case of defamation.
It could have been heard in LA, but it was possible to be heard in Virginia because the New York Times have offices there,and the op-Ed originated from there. But JDs team choose to sue from here rather than LA for several reasons that would favour his case, the main 2 being, it would allow cameras in for the public to see, and it’s a one party state( meaning only one person has to be aware when a recording is being made) unlike LA which is a 2 party state (meaning both JD and AH would have had to have given consent prior to the “secret” recordings. Both these reasons meant we the public could see AHs true colours,and how she’s lied/gaslighted…all good for JD..and us👌🏼

It has taken a longtime,but her lawyer needs credible witnesses. She hurt her case when the studio executive failed to confirm her firing was due to Johnny's stuff. She is going to need credible job lost witnesses. I think that Amber and the atty was playing some wishful thinking me too strategy. When you come to court and expect you better be bringing it. Maybe they thought he would settle out of court in order it avoid theatrics. He is a movie star not a tv star. They don't have pressure from networks or sponsors.

These requests for motions to strike have made the lawyers about 25 thousand bucks in billable time.
AH is using this trial to attempt to leech off JD's success yet again. It is clear she cannot act, has no chemistry with other actors (probably cannot get on with them), she creates drama with her lies, fraudulent actions and delusions of superiority in and out of the movie business. I think perhaps she should get a job that does not involve customer services and that includes the entertainment industry.

I worked in the biggest law firm in the country in their main offices in NYC & I can pretty much guarantee that Heard's team were in the bottom half of their law school class & were never offered positions in an A+ firm; and Depp's team went to good schools, graduated in the top 5% of their class & were offered positions at A+ firms immediately out of law school.
