Hi Gemily, A suggestion for improvement glasses; Zennioptical, for $25, two sets. I use them for refraction estimates. When I watch this video, I think about how great you and Jake are in your efforts. I like the fact that you have Snellen Charts up, and check them regularly. For myself, I accept the requirement that by this check I read, 20/40, both eyes open at 20 feet. If I confirm doing this, I quit wearing a minus lens. (The full DMV requirement is; One eye, 20/60, Other eye, 20/40, Both eyes open, 20/40. This was my "starting point". You can truly work yourself back to 20/20 by using a reduced lens, or no lens at all. I also do my my own refraction measurements. OD, are a total "lost cause".

Good video. Also in your last video, I remember you mentioning something called a "peak" correction. Is this when you use two pairs of normalized at the same time?
This is when on nice sunny days, when you don't have ciliary spasm and you are seeing well, and your normalised glasses aren't giving you any challenge like they do on cloudy days or when your eyes are tired, you wear your NEXT pair of normalised, the ones you will move to later, so that you still get a little blur challenge to work with.
Hi Gemily, Nice Snellen on the wall. I wish I would have been offered a scientific choice. (The second opinion.) 1) NEVER start wearing a minus lens 2) Take responsibility, to always objectively pass the required DMV test at home. 3) DMV, requirement is 20/70, one eye, 20/40, other eye, 20/40, both eyes open on Bright Snellen. 4) This conflicts with "official Optometry", but we mus learn to do this together. 5) Teach me to measureme my own refractive state, and I will take full legal responsibility, for results.
Exactly. Although when they are giving so many children glasses these days it makes them even less likely to treat their customers as intelligent people capable of taking responsibility for that. Alas.
As per the calculator by true myopic value is-5. But my prescription given by doctor is -2.5 for 20/20 vision. But I can't see near objects with that Glasses(-2.5). So I wear -1.25 for near work. So what can I do to Improve my vision?
Hopefully, at 20/60, no glasses. Or only a weak minus. Use only to drive. From that point I got to 20/40. Then, very slowly to 20/20. I hope other people working, with Jake, can achieve this.
My issue is my old glasses that I’m wearing now is reverse what my eyes now are.. I got an updated optometrist visit (3 this year) and since starting endmyopia (using my old glasses and just practicing taking them off when doing up close and trying to do active focus) my new “prescription” since starting this journey is reversed where my astigmatism is opposite of my glasses now and I can’t figure out what to do.. if I told u my prescription then and now could u give me a little guidance? It’s the astigmatism that’s confusing me on starting my first pair!
When I measure my eyes, I get 18 cms, this is when it starts to become slightly blurred. Should I try to read 18 cms or so away from my computer or it's too close, even without glasses? Instead should I get differentials? So 18 cms translate into 5.5 diopters. So what do you advise? That I read at 18 cms witbout glasses or that I get some glasses at 3.0 diopters instead? Thanks
Get differentials. The thing is that it is more than just your edge of blur that you are dealing with here. You are also dealing with convergence when you are too close to what you are trying to view. You don't want to strain your eyes that way either.
I have a really high prescription (-11.25/-12.25) About 10 months ago, before I discovered EndMyopia, I got a pair of computer glasses from my optometrist (-10.75/-11.75), I have since ended up using the computer glasses for everything because they felt so much better. Should I get a second weaker pair of differentials now that my original differentials are normalized? How can I tell if I have completely adjusted to the normalized pair?
Thanks for the explanation! Quick question, my left eye is -2.5 and my right -2.5. However, what do you do if there is some difference in left and right eye when reading or looking at the screen with no glasses? I mean if you bring closer to you, then my right eye could see better easily. But if we need some blur challenges then I’m afraid my weaker eye will just give up because too much blur and my stronger eye will do all the work. What should we do? I hope this question makes sense.
Please help me ... I have -7.25 on right and left 7.00 cyl : - 0.50 axis :170 it's my new prescription and i using already 1 .5 month and my old prescription right eye -6.75 left eye -6.50 cyl -0.50 axis 160 . Now i want to join this race what should i do ? Should i use my old glasses for all time or should i use my full strength glassses? Or should i buy new pair of glasses normalized and close up work? What should i do ?
I don't know what you should do - that depends on so many things that are subjective. Here is what you need to ask yourself: in your old glasses, are things blurry or clear? In your new glasses are things clear or are they ultra HD? Print out a Snellen Chart and check what line you can read with each pair of glasses. If you can read the 20/20 line with your old glasses, then they are good to go back to. If you can see 20/30 or 20/40 in them, they may still be okay to go back to, as long as wearing the stronger glasses these last 1.5 months has made your brain used to seeing clearly. If you can't see 20/40 in them, you need the stronger glasses. Also, definitely get differential glasses for close up - being overcorrected for close up causes myopia progression. But step 1: print a Snellen chart to help you work out what glasses are more correct for you. Step 2: order differential glasses that are appropriately reduced in strength. You can try using the EndMyopia online calculator to measure your vision, but at that level of myopia, it might be tricky. Try wearing your old glasses and seeing how far away you get before it gets blurry, then add 6.75 or 6.5 (depending on the lens in front of your eye) to the result to work out your ideal full correction. If your old glasses are still pretty close, this could be quite a big distance from your screen.
My new glasses are ultra hd and my old glasses are hd . In snellen chart i see 20/25 on my old glasses . And endmyopia calculator is 78cm new glasses are same but endmyopia calculator its 82cm ... So what should i do ?
Hey my current power is right eye -3.5 and left eye -4. I only use most of the time my phone for close up activity and nothing else and I use that at a distance at which I can even see without glasses so should I use differential and if yes then how will I get the blur challenge
If you can use your phone without differentials, that's okay. But at -4, you'd need them if you are on a computer or reading a book. Try not to use your phone too much - see if you can move more of your phone activities over to a computer or tablet. The distance at which we use our phone kills gains. Have a look at Reannon's video on differentials: ruclips.net/video/7HM5oOAexww/видео.html
If you can't get outside everyday, that's okay. Get outside when you can, or look out a window. You can active focus on the snellen, but don't active focus on it for too long at a time. Jake reported that one person active focussed on their Snellen for 3 hours straight, and then had the image of their Snellen visible in their vision for a few days after that! So maybe AF on a Snellen for 15 minutes, then go and do some other things. Another thing you can do indoor is print pushing, like while reading or on a computer. That also helps.
When we are studying a book or close up work less then 30cm do we need to use differential glasses? One more question when I'm seeing from 60 cm distance how much diopter I should reduce। My left eye is 2.75 and Right eye is 4.00 Please reply🥺
For work less than 30cm, whether or not you need differential glasses depends on how strong your myopia is. With one eye at -2.75, you may not feel you need them, and that's fine. Do try to make sure your -4 eye is participating too though. You may want to try differentials with a little correction for your -4 eye, but no correction for your -2.75 and see how that feels. But it all depends on how YOU see. I don't know. At 60cm distance, differential glasses would be the correction to use, I would think. Jake's EndMyopia website, as well as other videos, explain what a differential correction is if you don't already know that.
You can swap some cyl for some sph, as you said, yes. Jake does not recommend doing that until you have made 2 successful straight sph drops, as they are the easiest, and then you will know you are doing the process correctly. That is just his general advice though - they are your eyes, so you can choose how you proceed, but this is what he has found works best for most people. Good luck!!
You normally would start buy buying a pair of differentials, and wearing them for your close up and wearing your full correction for distance. Then, after 4 to 6 weeks you get your normalised to replace your full correction. So you always have 2 pairs of glasses at once that you swap throughout the day depending on what you are doing.
There is not a differential or normalised week. Differentials are for close up work, normalised is for distance. You are swapping between them all the time.
You can used close up and normalised on the same day. You only use the differentials for close up, and you only use the normalised for non-close up. They say to start with the differential. That doesn't mean only the differential and nothing else. It means you have your full glasses. Then you start wearing your differentials whenever you do close up work, and wear your normalised glasses whenever you are not doing close up work. Then, after you have been doing this for 6 weeks, swap your full glasses for normalised glasses. Then you will be swapping between your differentials and your normalised. After 6 weeks of that, you can see whether your eyes are ready for a lower differential correction. And so on.
