The Jake Origin Story: I grew up with glasses, 5.00 diopter high myopia, and yet today have 20/20 natural eyesight. No surgery, no glasses, I figured out how myopia actually works and how to reverse it (and no, not eye exercises!) The mainstream tells you it's impossible - but the whole concept that myopia is an illness, is complete unscientific nonsense (a 100 billion dollar a year profitable nonsense, though).

Okay, I think I know what you were trying to say, but never quite said ...
If you just throw away your glasses things may be quite blurry. If it's too blurry then your eyes will have a hard time figuring out which way to go to correct. Confusion.
Instead, if you get glasses that are a little weaker than normal then your eyes will be able to tell which way to go to correct. And you can hopefully train them to focus with the weaker glasses.
Then you'll probably need another pair just a little weaker ... and so on.
    Thanks.

Pretty much. But it depends on your prescription too, I think -2.00 and higher can get away with only using glasses when necessary. But beyond that should probably use reduced lens therapy.

Thanks! This gives an explanation to something that I observed myself going completely without glasses the past year +. I was trying to explain to a friend that instead of things gradually becoming blurry into the distance, it seemed more that there was a clear zone that abruptly ends and didn't know why or if that was normal or not. It's kinda neat to have an explanation/confirmation of what I was experiencing. While I'm now learning that it wasn't so great to just go without glasses (I was determined and willing to sacrifice though most people thought I was completely nuts. :P), I think it's still been a helpful experience in a small way. If I can put up with "living in the blur", I think the rest of your program will be easier in comparison and it has already given me some of the consciousness that you talk about of what's going on with my eyes like noticing when I'm seeing better/straining etc. Excited now to really have a clearer plan for improvement and know what to expect!

The whole world is full of truths and non-truths. That is not limited to the internet. In fact, the internet allows for more in depth research. If one doctor gives me bad advice and likely every single adult at some point will or has gotten bad advice from a doctor, and that is the scope of my research, that is not good. In fact, I have had many doctors talk negatively about people to do any medical research on the internet. Internet research saved my wife's foot. After a fall, she got an x-ray and they said there was no fracture, so she should walk on it. It was very painful. She called them and they repeated their suggestion. She did further research and came to the conclusion that it might be broken and if she were to walk on it, it could do permanent damage. The earliest appointment she could get with a different doctor was a month away. Based on her research, she decided to NOT walk on it. The second x-ray showed a fracture and the doctor told her that if she were to walk on it before it heals, she could cause permanent damage.

I have a cousin who has refuses to wear her corrective lenses whether it be glasses or contact lenses. She has needed them since 2016, but she has not worn them since she first got them because according to her, she does not like to put things over her eyes. That is an attitude you can't have if you have poor vision. It is something you can't take lightly because your eyes and your head are going to be in a lot of pain. The side effects are not worth it, and that attitude has to change when she is going to start driving. For people who have poor vision and do not like to wear their corrective lenses and refuse to wear them, suck it up. You can't just choose not to wear them when you need them. You'll make your eyes work harder, it will lead to negative side effects, and if your vision prescription changes over time, that is just going to make the side effects worse. Don't be a fool and just wear your glasses or your contact lenses whether you like it or not.

Hi Jake, I've just read your Myopia: A misunderstood symptom, and it's probably the best explanation for the causes of myopia there is on the Internet.
Basically what you are saying is that myopia comes about in two stages.
The first stage that happens is pseudo myopia (the focusing muscle spasm that locks the muscle in place).
The second stage progressive myopia, that is when people then deploy lenses to compensate for the failure of the uncooperative muscle thus resulting in clear vision for distant objects. However this use of lenses is an artificial stimulant to the eye. In response to this artificial stimulant of the lens, the eye lengthens and unfortunately continues to do so. After some time, the eye has lengthened such that the lens is not able to assist in focussing light on the retina. The lens can only bring focus at a point in front of the retina. So people get a new lens to focus light on the new position of the retina that is further back due to the lengthened eyeball. The new lens then unfortunately provides a new stimulant for the eyeball to start lengthening again. And the process repeats itself.
What you are saying is that the method to reversing myopia is to progressively reduce the quantity of stimulant, which means reducing the strength of the lenses so the eyeball can shorten in length by itself, up to an ideal length such that the focussing muscle (which should also be trained to relax at the same time) can start working again properly as advertised.
I think that's what you are saying.

+Dannykhc It is. At least it's the most plausible explanation I was able to find. Also look up hyperopic defocus on Google Scholar, various interesting studies discussing axial length inducing stimulus. (wearing distance correction while focused up close)

    • @Dannykhc
      @Dannykhc 7 лет назад

Would it be safe to assume that once the eyeball returns to its default length by sustained use of progressively weaker lenses, then, the factor of progressive myopia is removed from the equation?
As such that leaves only the factor of pseudomyopia to be considered? If only pseudomyopia is all that remains, that means the ability to focus on distant objects would solely depend on whether the focusing muscle is relaxed or strained.
It seems to me then that wearing minus lenses will help you improve up to a certain point, that is shorten the eyeball. From then on the ability to focus would depend solely on whether your focusing muscle is working properly to flatten or fatten the lens as required.
This is an eureka moment for me and I'm going to tell (read lecture) my kids on this tonight.
      Many thanks, Jake.

      @23100Battlefield 7 лет назад +3

I think I can help that question, it depends on your time in near work. If you are spending a majority of the time in distance, over time your ciliary muscle (Muscle which shapes the crystalline lens for near focus) will become more relaxed and begin to function properly again, the rate and extent of this is dependant upon many factors keep in mind. ciliary spasm is one of the first things to go when you start maintaining good vision habits again, so it isn't really a case of your eyes becoming less myopic and then still having a cilliary spasm. Studies have proven emmetropic subjects get NITM just as much ass myopic subjects.
Also Jake isn't a scientist or an optometrist and he kind of figured this out backward to the way science does. Rather than coming up with a theory and then trying to scientifically test a certain method, he just tried basically everything found something that worked, reversed myopia in other people friends etc and THEN tried to explain what happened using science

Hi Jake, I'm glad I stumbled across this video which some how explains a concern I was having.
Basically I just got my first prescription glasses, OD -1.25 OS -2.50 and it's been great so far other than wearing them for computer use because I feel like it's too strong when I'm looking at my computer monitor, now I found my dad's extra pair and they seem to work good for computer use but I think it should be a little stronger, just a bit. I've read that there's no problem using someone else's.
Is that right, what do you think?

Don't use your myopia glasses for looking close up, except your myopia is highier than 2 diopter i think. If you can see the screen clearly without glasses or with just a little bit blur, don't wear glasses for it.

Hello and thank you for the video again. This is all very helpful.
I am still looking for where do you write or say, up to what degree of visual acuity ideally new normalized glasses should allow one to see?
i.e. Maybe up to 20/40 so one can drive but still have some distant blur to be able to practice active focus to improve vision?
Or rather 20/50 or less (20/60) for those who don't drive for example, so there is a closer blur to practice active focus and have more room for improvement until the next new normalized?
Is there a recommended number for that? Or is i justt up to each person to decide as to how far they want/need their blur horizon to be?

the goal is only use strength necessary for the activity, and slightly print push all the time.
so for close up work , no glasses.
walking around the house, a -1.
walking down the street, a -2.
climbing mountains and star gazing, a full -4 may be appropriate.
not wearing glasses creates too much strain.

It has led to me a serie problems like headache and cross eye, it's not even like the light cross eye problems only appears on your aesthetic but im in pain because my is turning so Inward its touching my nose, there is some part of my eye I'm not sure... if it's called cornea ... the transparent membrane above the white is already squeezed up into a little between my pupil and my nose, and the outside of my eye was pull stretched and it appears so lots of red lines, and now when I wear glasses I have double vision and the shapes are distorted, I kept running between ophthalmologist offices and Hospital, I have apply to the hospital and changed the eye doctor for at least two or three times and every time I went back they told me my eyes are totally fine, it's just my glasses power that are not correct for me, and every time when they are done touching my eyes they will prescribe something higher, I don't understand why they gave 5.5 in one eye and 6.5 in the other eye. I've checked out a few simulators myopia simulators videos on RUclips and on the internet. My situation is topmost four-point something. This is probably why I have my headaches my eye muscles got stuck. 3 days ago I took off my glasses completely and have not worn them since then, I felt the hardened parts of my eyes defrost, when I wore my glasses my up some parts of my eye muscles feels something Harden near my lashes, I'm not sure about the situation now...
