    I have learnt so much since watching this channel I have a huge collection of toys, comics and such in my small English terraced house every room is full to the ceiling boxed, unboxed as well. It brings happiness and joy to me reminding me of my childhood in the 70s onwards. I also pass some stuff on to fellow collectors at reasonable prices so everyone’s a winner especially the toys cheers 🍻

    Nice of that guy to explain to the audience, that you arent ripping people off, but running a business which has to pay rent, taxes and so on. You have to pay way less than the market price to make it work.

    • @cerd6292
      @cerd6292 11 месяцев назад +17

      Yes the only reasons you should deal with a retail shop is 1.) you need cash quick. 2.) you trade for something they have that’s hard to find. Otherwise you are taking way less than you could get otherwise.

    • @Chalor.
      @Chalor. 11 месяцев назад +6

      For sure. And another reason would be the item is so freakin' huge, you're just better off selling it to the store than trying to ship it. I live near the store, so thinking about bringing in my Sideshow V1 1/6 scale Jabba & throne, and maybe my 1/6 Panzer II tank.

    • @jimjones308
      @jimjones308 11 месяцев назад

      @@cerd6292 I wouldn't say "way" less cash. Selling on an online platform there is always the risk of losing the item AND the money if the buyer is a crook, or the item is lost in the mail. I had a carded Ghost Rider rack toy that was an easy $300. I turned down an offer from a toy store for $200 thinking I could do better with an auction online. Ended up north of $300 which was great, but I shipped the toy and the buyer claimed I didn't pack it correctly and it was "damaged". He sent a picture to the platform of an entirely different, water damaged, creased, card and damaged toy that had probably been a place filler in their collection. Bingo, the platform finds against me I'm out not only the toy, but I am forced to refund the money. This drags out for weeks. You have NO idea how much I wish I had taken the $200 from the local toy store. :(

    This was another cool episode. I remember seeing the Mint Truck in the back of a Star Wars catalog, and I thought it was cool looking, but I never saw one for sale. That whole Butch & Sundance line came and went pretty fast, if I remember correctly. But in answer to your question, the Shogun Warriors Jumbo Machinder that was released in Europe was UFO Robo Grendizer, but it was called Goldrake in Europe. We got the smaller Grendizer with the saucer ship in the states which was called the Solar Saucer. The Grail jumbo piece is the Saucer for the Jumbo Grendizer which little kids could actually ride on! IMO, Chris is an awesome guest and should definitely appear in more episodes.

    I really love how reasonalbe and understanding this guy is about the toy market. I found an old Kenner Pilot Luke over the summer at a sale and I was really excited to buy it as it was terribly beaten up, the paint on the face was missing, the paint on the torso was mostly scratched off, and the feet and hands were chewed up. It was perfect for me because I wanted to create a custom Y-wing pilot like Gold Leader. When I asked them how much, they replied "$20, FIRM"! I was thinking $2 was generous for something like this, but most people see old toys especially Star Wars as something with huge value, and don't understand condition is really important to the value. Also, it might be a really rare item, but if the market isn't interested it's just not worth that much.
    I've mostly given up figure collecting right now because of this, but I'll still find some good deals here and there, and hunting for some of the items is half of the fun :)

    Oh my god, it's called ROBO STRUX?! I've been wondering what that toy was for almost 40 years now. My dad went to Japan for a business meeting (he worked for ROLM in San Jose), and came back with some cool robot model toys for me and my brother. They came in a bag and the instructions were in Japanese, so we had no idea how to put them together. We had the stegosaurus and the brontosaurus. We went across the street to my friend's house and had so much fun trying to put it together. All I could remember about it as I got older was that you built it like a snap-fit model, and used the little rubber knobs that's you put on the joints to hold it together. Oh, and it had a little metal dude that'd sit in the head, which I thought was the coolest feature outside of the motor and gears. _NO ONE_ I ever talked to ever remembered the toy, so I had just assumed it was a Japan-only toy all these years.

    Anyone have more info on the Voltron?
    I have one from my childhood, full stickers, bottom rolling assembly with controller. I'm missing the sword(maybe have it) and the wings. I've always just had in a plastic tub for the last 35+ years

    Ralph looked at him dumbly. For a moment he had a fleeting picture of
    the strange glamour that had once invested the beaches. But the island was
    scorched up like dead wood―Simon was dead―and Jack had.... The tears
    began to flow and sobs shook him. He gave himself up to them now for the
    first time on the island; great, shuddering spasms of grief that seemed to
    wrench his whole body. His voice rose under the black smoke before the
    burning wreckage of the island; and infected by that emotion, the other little
    boys began to shake and sob too. And in the middle of them, with filthy
    body, matted hair, and unwiped nose, Ralph wept for the end of innocence,
    the darkness of man's heart, and the fall through the air of the true, wise
    friend called Piggy.
