For a person that buys, sells and trade VHS tapes, these episodes are priceless for how a dealer thinks when it comes to a passionate business owner p.o.v.
For those that think people get ripped off through this process. You have to think. If it were you. Would you want to take the time to process, sort, list, and house all of these items? Just to wait months to sell even one of them. Or would you rather, like these people. Take your collection to someone who is willing to do that and sell the whole lot at a 45-50% discount? The second hand market isn't easy to profit from. It takes time, effort, and resources to get to the level that these guys are at. It's totally fair.
Also consider it from the store owner's perspective. There's a guy on YT named Tommy Wright who is documenting his experience after buying a Subway franchise location. He worked 13/ 14-hour days every day there. After all of his costs, he made like $10/hr the 1st week. The 2nd week was like a *total* of $21 and some change. Overhead for a store is a beast.
This made my Saturday morning. I have never been in a retail buy-swap situation, but I enjoy seeing some of the behind the sausage. I like how the deals always seem fair. Tough at times (hey, it’s retail), but fair
I like how your videos are raw and no fluff. You know what I mean. Like what reality TV should be like. I think it makes it alot more genuine and I've just come across your videos for the first time lol
I have some of the Buffy items! I think they are very well made and they are well care for and most never open! I made my own spike doll out of a GI joe action figure can be tons of fun remakeing dolls! 😊❤
@@toyfederation Definitely ok with that! I know you're busy pumping out premium content - shorts during the week highlighting a favourite collectible toy in the shop would be super cool!
Hey John, don't listen to these silly willy's. Ain't nothing wrong with a grown ass man that loves some Buffy merch! And it just doesn't make any sense, it's as if you're admitting to collecting Spice Girl dolls or something...which my (completely secure with my heterosexuality) ass totally did back in the day when I was a late teen. I also collected Beanie Babies. Not for investment purposes, but because I liked all the different animal species they made. 100% no soy in me 💪.
Can you please make more videos? I love seeing everything and the negotiations. This channel is perfect! Out of curiosity what toy is your number one seller?
Seems pretty common for folks to struggle with the concepts of value, worth and what a person (in this case a business owner) is willing to pay (ideally to keep the previously mentioned business owner's business in business)
I'm not a toy collector myself accept for Predator statues I paint myself, but I could watch this channel daily and not lose interest. Such a fascinating channel and professional presented
I watched a lot of Buffy, probably every episode. Kind of reminds me a little of the Twilight Saga films where you have vampires fighting but also romance going on. I'm a fan of the Twilight films too.
The Cops art is awesome. I have some very rare Production sketches from The Power Lords line as well as engineering specs for a proposed vehicle from the Galoob Blackstar line that eventually made it's way to the totally underrated Infaceables line.
It’s funny when sellers always say “ to tell you the truth I don’t know what the value is” or “ I didn’t collect these for the value”. When they know EXACTLY what they’re worth!!!
Just came from a estate sale and picked up some star wars figures and a poster of Buffy and Angel together for my wife. That was her pick for when we watched something together.
It is hard to believe a Sideshow figure used to cost $20-$30 but I used to work at a 1/6 shop and remember all of those and the Bayonets and Barbed wire figures, BBI and Dragon made better figures back then lol
Does no one on youtube understand wholesaling? If you think the price is low... then consider the fact that finding retail buyers is often difficult, involves potential negotiation, shipping and other costs aside from the time and physical effort.
Love your show! Keep it up. I am amazed at the knowledge you guys have of the toys. I've watched all of your videos and am surprised by the toys I forgot about! Love it!
That Cordelia with the sword unopened only sells for about $100 max on eBay and about 12 of them have sold this year alone. Opened, with no sword, maybe $60. Just because it's "rare" doesn't mean it's valuable.
Geese gents the wait was killing me for your next one lol, would you possibly look a doing a store tour that would be awesome. Thank you very much for the awesome content and channel 😊

There's an underlying tone of, "LOL Buffy, LOL" is this one, which is a real bummer. The show was a massive hit and is still considered to be Joss Whedon's best work by a lot of people.
We did not have that tone at all. But, you may have saw our concern for knowing that, at least in our area, it's not a popular line and so it was quite a gamble for us to take it in. We even mention our main Buffy buyer. And, until he came in with his collection, we had next to none.
I can’t get enough of people coming in and thinking that they’ll get top dollar to watching the offer of $0.20 on the dollar sink in….this is the ultimate reality TV.
Yep! Sad, but a big part of it is convenience too. You are essentially saying "Hey buy my stuff" and when you bundle things together you won't get near the full value or even most of the value when you do that. You could get more if you took time to piece it out but that takes time and most people don't want to do that. I've been there too. It is what it is! Hopefully someone else gets to enjoy these collectibles. Was never a Buffy fan myself but it's interesting how they make figures for everything and even things back in the day. WILD.
@@3hirdtimesacharm What do you mean? If you sell 'to a store,' you will ALWAYS get less money - even if you bring just one or a few figures. If you 'urgently' need money or space, then 'the store' is your only option. Otherwise, you just need to have a bit of patience, list it on eBay/online, and wait - eventually, the figure will sell.
Really like how you explain your stock and when and how it sells, there is a comic book warehouse in my area, and even they are upfront about the logistics. So if the book is "worth" $50 but they have 6 in stock and you want to make yours their 7th, they might not take it or the offer is low. I watched it in high school. In all honesty, I have a very sentimental feeling towards this show because it was the only thing I actually looked forward to each week. 8:00 on Tuesday nights. It kept me going through high school because it was a rough time in my life. It kept me wanting to stick around to see the next episode. As lame as it sounds, it’s the truth. Things are so much better now, but, I have collected Buffy things when I see them out and about.
@ I collect Star Wars primarily. First, it started with the movies back in the day. THEN, it was always great stuff to play with my friends. I collect TODAY now that my folks are gone because this stuff reminds me of better times.
It's a business at the end of the day, following protocol when makeing purchase the owner definitely won't lose out. Look at the inventory on the walls there's so much motu, yet you don't see motu flying off the shelves it's basically decoration.
