It's been so hard. Last night I prayed and I opened the Bible. I came before him, broken. Like in Psalms 88, I felt that I was crying out day and night before Him, but that last night I truly broke down. So, I opened the Bible asking for a sign and I opened it up to Isaiah 41.. "fear not, for I am with you". God is good. Surely then he loves me and he is here WITH me. I asked him if I was accepted and I opened my Bible up again. Luke 10:25-37. God is good. God does not hate. When judgment comes, it's for everyone. We will all be judged. We will all fall short before his glory. We will all fall in his mercy. Amen.
God bless you my friend. I am a LGBTQ Christian and have faced so much pain and hurt from my church communities in the past. I have, like many of the LGBTQ community, felt rejection to the point of considering taking my own life. I couldn't accept myself for who I am. I despised myself. God has shown me that I am his precious child and he has held me close during these times of struggle. I have grown in my faith and in my relationship with the loving, perfect, beautiful God I believe in. "The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" - Psalm 34, 18. God bless all of you. No matter what you believe, where you stand on issues of debate, NO MATTER WHAT, our perfect God loves you and calls you to be his child.

Even Christians who have studied theology to doctoral level have disagreements on how to interpret particular passages of the Bible. Christians can have different beliefs on topics and still be faithful followers of Christ. It is not our place to say who is or isn't a Christian. The basic requirement needed to be a Christian is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. If you begin to make other qualifications then eventually you will find that NONE of us deserve to be in relationship with God. But then that is the centre point of our faith. Jesus Christ died for us because none of us are good enough. Referring to LGBTQ+ Christians as "Christians" in quote marks is making us an outsider and an "other". But under Christ Jesus all are equal. NO ONE is excluded from God's Kingdom. God bless you

Even those who murdered Jesus - Jesus said "forgive them father". I have a serious question, asked in good faith: How can one affirm homosexuality in light of the bible passages (both old and new testament) that call homosexuality "detestable" or an "abomination?" I watched this presentation in the hopes that a biblical justification would be offered. However, my question remained unanswered. For clarity: I am non-religious. Raised fundamentalist Christian. I'm also not straight and a HUGE part of my upbringing was that God was specifically pissed off about the fact that I was interested in men. I'm not here to tell anyone that the way they live or the things they believe are wrong. I'm just curious and hoping to learn. Thank y'all Edit: just to be double clear in case my profession of queerness wasn't enough, I agree with every reason he presented for why non straight people ought to be affirmed. God said He/She/Them has set before us life and death and to choose life. Some would believe being LGBTQ is choosing death. But why would loving be choosing death? Finally, welcome and affirm yourself first and remember that even Jesus was rejected in His hometown but He kept on being and living.

I am gonna say something from my personal perspective of the Bible... I believe that everyone has to make their own convictions. For instance, some people (Christians) believe drinking in general is wrong, while others believe that drinking is fine but not to the point where you’re drunk. Same for tattoos, I believe it is fine to have tattoos, but my Bible teacher at my school (Christian School) who is very nice btw doesn’t believe in tattoos. He is a youth pastor... And my brother is also a youth pastor but he has tattoos... Now, the point I’m trying to prove is that, if ‘you’ feel deep in your heart it’s wrong, then its a sin for “you”. But if someone thinks feels in their heart it’s not a sin then it’s not sinful to them. I’ll give another example. My brother thinks tattoos are fine thinks it’s not a sin. My Bible teacher doesn’t think there fine so for “him” it’s a sin. So if both got tattoos then the teacher is the one sinning... I believe though that the only thing you can’t choose if it’s fine or not (by your heart) is the 10 Commandments. I think those are strictly said not to do. So yeah, that’s what I think of how things are.
The Ten Commandments were given to Moses before Jesus was born. Those were 10 basic commandments that set the principle for prayer and and ethics in Christianity but that was not meant to serve as a list of all sins not to commit. You need to read the Bible a little better

First of all I'm truly grieved to hear testimonies of many lgbt people's experience in the church. I'm truly saddened that anyone has to even contemplate suicide. God does love everyone. And we as believers should model that love to each other and to the rest of the world. God gave His only begotten Son that "whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). He truly desires a relationship with us and there is so much joy and peace in HIM which pass all of our understanding. With that being said. It is important to note that we should never lose sight that while God loves us, He is still Holy and does not affirm sin. Sin of any kind. He can't because it is contrary to His nature. God also does not contradict His Word. With love I say this but this gentleman gave no scriptures to back up anything he said. Rather it was just opinion and personal feelings.
What we should be affirming instead of specious things like “identity” is your true God-given purpose. You are a spiritual individual in a physical body. You are a citizen of heaven, not of the world. Instead of emphasizing delving into your worst sins in this life, you should be focused on your true life; eternal love and adoration as a child of God. If you cannot put your sins aside for Christ, Christ will throw you aside on the day of the LORD.
Well, with the attitude you have, let's hope you never get thrown aside. If you are suggesting that his accepting his gayness is one of the worst sins of his life, then I wonder what you think about discriminating against others or persecuting people who can't fit into your world ? I feel for this gentleman and I sympathize with his issue. GOD, the Bible and JESUS CHRIST says homosexuality is a sin. If I had a problem of committing adultery with one or more women or even men. This is a sin. If I went to the church and brought this aspect of my life up and ask for direction this is what I would expect to hear: GOD loves you no matter your sins, HE wants you to repent of your sin, HE wants you to turn away from sin and lead a life led by GOD and with HIS favor. We are all sinners. Just because I sin differently it doesn't give me a right to judge anyone's sin especially because I am not without fault. I believe church is safe place to come as we are and learn to be transformed to be favorable with our actions in the sight of GOD. I'm sure if I brought my latest fling in every Sunday it would not be looked at in a positive manner. It would be the same if brought in a product of any other sin. I would completely understand and would have no problem understanding the church. Acceptance and tolerance definitely needs to exist in the church but it also needs to be reflected in the person that wants to receive the same in return. Grace is the proper term. I have a serious question, asked in good faith:
How can one affirm homosexuality in light of the bible passages (both old and new testament) that call homosexuality "detestable" or an "abomination?"
I watched this presentation in the hopes that a biblical justification would be offered. However, my question remained unanswered.
For clarity: I am non-religious. Raised fundamentalist Christian. I'm also not straight and a HUGE part of my upbringing was that God was specifically pissed off about the fact that I was interested in men. I'm not here to tell anyone that the way they live or the things they believe are wrong. I'm just curious and hoping to learn. Thank y'all
Edit: just to be double clear in case my profession of queerness wasn't enough, I agree with every reason he presented for why non straight people ought to be affirmed. These things are all extremely important, and I'm one of those "before the age of 25" statistics. Luckily I failed. But anyways, my question is purely theological in nature.

I am gonna say something from my personal perspective of the Bible...
I believe that everyone has to make their own convictions. For instance, some people (Christians) believe drinking in general is wrong, while others believe that drinking is fine but not to the point where you’re drunk. Same for tattoos, I believe it is fine to have tattoos, but my Bible teacher at my school (Christian School) who is very nice btw doesn’t believe in tattoos. He is a youth pastor... And my brother is also a youth pastor but he has tattoos...
Now, the point I’m trying to prove is that, if ‘you’ feel deep in your heart it’s wrong, then its a sin for “you”. But if someone thinks feels in their heart it’s not a sin then it’s not sinful to them. I’ll give another example. My brother thinks tattoos are fine thinks it’s not a sin. My Bible teacher doesn’t think there fine so for “him” it’s a sin. So if both got tattoos then the teacher is the one sinning...
I believe though that the only thing you can’t choose if it’s fine or not (by your heart) is the 10 Commandments. I think those are strictly said not to do. So yeah, that’s what I think of how things are.

The Ten Commandments were given to Moses before Jesus was born. Those were 10 basic commandments that set the principle for prayer and and ethics in Christianity but that was not meant to serve as a list of all sins not to commit. You need to read the Bible a little better

First of all I'm truly grieved to hear testimonies of many lgbt people's experience in the church. I'm truly saddened that anyone has to even contemplate suicide. God does love everyone. And we as believers should model that love to each other and to the rest of the world. God gave His only begotten Son that "whosoever believes on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). He truly desires a relationship with us and there is so much joy and peace in HIM which pass all of our understanding.
With that being said. It is important to note that we should never lose sight that while God loves us, He is still Holy and does not affirm sin. Sin of any kind. He can't because it is contrary to His nature. God also does not contradict His Word. With love I say this but this gentleman gave no scriptures to back up anything he said. Rather it was just opinion and personal feelings.
What we should be affirming instead of specious things like “identity” is your true God-given purpose. You are a spiritual individual in a physical body. You are a citizen of heaven, not of the world. Instead of emphasizing delving into your worst sins in this life, you should be focused on your true life; eternal love and adoration as a child of God. If you cannot put your sins aside for Christ, Christ will throw you aside on the day of the LORD.
Well, with the attitude you have, let's hope you never get thrown aside. If you are suggesting that his accepting his gayness is one of the worst sins of his life, then I wonder what you think about discriminating against others or persecuting people who can't fit into your world ? I'm afraid there is a lot for you to learn on this issue, and I say this kindly.

I feel for this gentleman and I sympathize with his issue. GOD, the Bible and JESUS CHRIST says homosexuality is a sin. If I had a problem of committing adultery with one or more women or even men. This is a sin. If I went to the church and brought this aspect of my life up and ask for direction this is what I would expect to hear: GOD loves you no matter your sins, HE wants you to repent of your sin, HE wants you to turn away from sin and lead a life led by GOD and with HIS favor. We are all sinners. Just because I sin differently it doesn't give me a right to judge anyone's sin especially because I am not without fault. I believe church is safe place to come as we are and learn to be transformed to be favorable with our actions in the sight of GOD. I'm sure if I brought my latest fling in every Sunday it would not be looked at in a positive manner. It would be the same if brought in a product of any other sin. I would completely understand and would have no problem understanding the church. Acceptance and tolerance definitely needs to exist in the church but it also needs to be reflected in the person that wants to receive the same in return. Grace is the proper term. Do onto others as you would have done onto you. GOD bless you on your journey and may GOD bless you with the right support system in dealing with this issue. In whatever sin GOD loves you and I accept you as you are.
