Once an endangered species

The Mary River cod is still one of Australia's most endangered freshwater fish, due to loss of habitat and overfishing. The Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee is supporting a captive breeding program and working with landholders to improve riparian habitat. One day, in the future, we hope to be able to say "the Mary River cod, once an endangered species".
