  • Drone footage captured during the floods that occurred throughout the Mary River catchment in the first weekend of January 2022 due to ex Tropical Cyclone Seth.
    The highest daily rainfall levels in the Mary River Catchment occurred in the Munna Creek catchment and Gutchy Creek catchment on the 8th January 2022 at Marodian (Munna catchment) with 674mm (347mm in 2013) and Mt Kanigan (Gutchy catchment) with 649mm (396mm in 2013).
    The Mary River at Miva, downstream of Gympie, recorded its 6th highest flood peak since 1910. The Mary River at Home Park, upstream of Tiaro recorded its 2nd highest flood peak since 1982, while Tiaro recorded its 4th highest flood peak since 1983. Like 2013, the Maryborough CBD was inundated with a 9.98m flood (10.7m in 2013).
    The difference between the 2022 and the 2013 flood was the speed of the flood peak. In 2022 the floods reached their peak much fast than 2013, with 15cm rises each 3 minutes recorded at some stream gauging stations.
