This special video was created to celebrate Steve Burgess being awarded Life Membership of the Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee in recognition of the exemplary service he has provided to the MRCCC and to science, education, small farms, community organisations and the wider community in the Mary River catchment for more than 2 decades.

The Mary River cod is still one of Australia's most endangered freshwater fish, due to loss of habitat and overfishing. The Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee is supporting a captive breeding program and working with landholders to improve riparian habitat. One day, in the future, we hope to be able to say "the Mary River cod, once an endangered species".
