@@KeyWestWaterman Hi Aaron I enjoy watching your adventures and the reason for that is that I too own and run a campground out off Mumbai City in India and have the same principals about conserving and looking after the environment. Since my place #routecamp is overlooking a river I too do a lot of spear fishing and lobster fishing and fishing generally with a reel . We also use local techniques to catch some species of fish or crushtations .
The absolute best fishing days I have ever had in my life have been with guides like Ricou. Nothing beats fishing with people like him. Not only does he obviously intimately know everything about the fish he targets, he just as obviously loves to make people happy and feel good about themselves. He is a truly a gem.
Ricou didn't even have to say he was a pilot. He immediately reminded me of so many of the great guys that I have worked with over the years. Really enjoyed this one. Thanks Aaron and thanks Ricou.
I’m 81 and still fishing and mostly at night and with the wife so I do 98% of the work. The fishing is what keeps me going. This year the weather has been terrible but last year we went out 31 times that is thirty one. Love your videos.
I'm sold! I loved this episode. It's the perfect combination of your Dock Talk podcast and a fishing episode. It's so unique to see two charter captains interact like this. Keep em coming!
Best companion ever. Positive atitude a lot of stories about fishing that is the best remindes me of old memories of the old sea men. Best captain ever.
Lol sooooo happy you didn't put your hand in the water Aaron - that shark was not a tot! Great video, wonderful Snook fishing with such a great Captain! As always, thanks so much for taking us along on your adventures. xx
Aaron that's why some people will say they can only dream about fishing like that and you Aaron make those dreams come true by bring us along and enjoying the fishing trips. Not only above the water but below as well Thank you so much for making our dreams come true!
When you fish with someone like that capt, its a real nice experience and your soul grouth and at the end that's life all about. A big shout out from Costa Rica.
@@KeyWestWaterman for sure man love all your videos watch them all pretty much . If I’m ever down that way . Maybe we can fish . I’m from Merritt island close to your neck of the woods and shrimp Titusville a lot. It’s coming
What an excellent video and wholesome experience! This is what fishing is all about. Getting ready to hit Mosquito Lagoon tomorrow morning on the new kayak and wanted a video to help get me pumped. Definitely got it. Wish you both the best and hope to see more incredible trips! Keep doing what you do and hope to see you on the water.
Just moved to marathon about a month ago and your partly to blame! I’m an outboard boat mechanic and no other place I’d rather work than the beautiful keys! But I love your videos and you seem like such a great person. I appreciate what you do.
What a great day of fishing. I'd have to beg to keep one for the table. I love eating what I catch or harvest. I'm not greedy, I just enjoy the payoff of honest work.
What a trip !!! What a guide!! I can see you being the same way in your older years . This one was heart felt and fun to watch man . That's what fishing is all about! I miss my grandpa. He started me on this love of fishing with friends. Respect brother!!!
Much respect for your final thoughts. I think everyone hopes to get in a position like you, but until we all make it there it’s good to see someone who deserves it get to really enjoy life.
Thanks Aaron for introducing another fishery. The footage of the an ambushing shark near boat was an eye opener...looked like a black tip or bull...and noticed you still had your pilchard in the water at ...surprised the shark didn't circle back for that.
We will always watch as long as you make these great fishing videos!!!!! And please don’t stop doing the “catch, clean, & cook” love to see your take on processing the catch!!!!
Wonderful show, thanks so much. A real pleasure seeing two great fisherman doing what they enjoy… glad neither of you were hurt by that shark! Thanks again and hope you both do another show together soon
Ricou seems a great dude, love hearing the stories of folk older than me of their youth/history, would gladly charter him for a trip if i lived in the U.S, salt of the Earth 👍🏻
That guy is prolifically keys history. I do not get there no where near like I used to but he is well well known for the "running" and the fishing. And a great UM football alum!
Thank you so much hope you are doing better. Everything you said is so true my wife and I were married young I can tell she's still with me and I know we will be together again ❤
Aaron. Great video. I have never caught a snook my self. Went off shore today,Cudjoe, trolled, trolled, trolled, nota. Stopped at 125’ bottom for mutton nope. But did catch a nice lesser amberjack. Home eating fish and watching you. Great video. Found myself getting a little weepy eyed watching your send off. It’s so beautiful here fishing.
A lot of my family worked for Eastern Airlines and National and American. I had a short time with Eastern Express Airlines out of MIA. I was shocked at the amount of folks who worked at MIA and lived in the Keys. Spent many beautiful times back in the 80's chilling with my friends in the Keys. God Bless Bean and her Crew in the Keys. She was a special person. The carpool was busy back in the day. 😂 Viva Cristo Rey
One more thing, my family travels a lot. We are headed to Panama for thanksgiving break and I’m taking my 8 yr old son to Guston lake for mainly peacock bass. Snooks are also on the “menu”. Catch and release of course. I’m now seriously considering next year to La Jolla and Captain Ricou is definitely going to be my first call before booking!! Thanks again Aaron!! Your killing it
Man I miss fishing with my grandfather for Snook. Always felt like they are eating or you can slap them in the face with live shrimp and nothing. We'd fish for mangroves and he'd always have dummy line out with a live bait and eventually they would hit it! The beach shoreline is also a good time to see them and hope they were eating and man do they love to run. Good fish all around.
Thank you for giving us some rare footage of a shark in the wild. It's amazing how few of these creatures there are left in the keys. I can only imagine how boring it would be to catch a ton of Snook and Tarpon if we didn't have sharks to eat every other one. lol
Great episode as always but I think capt Ricou was the real star of this episode. Maybe a new series idea for “old soles of the Keys” different captains in different parts of the keys targeting different species
Really awesome video. You two captains may have an age gap, but obviously really like and respect each other. I say next year you really need to do another trip with him. Throw Madeleine or Will in the mix. Ricou is a cool dude.
Hey brother, great episode. About a year ago I camped out there in flamingo. They have some really cool “eco tents” you can rent. Really nice setup. No a/c but they do have power. Better to go near winter obviously but if you have a little portable a/c bring one and you’ll be camping in luxury during the summer. We fished around snake bite. Correct me if I’m wrong but One cool thing I learned is that it’s the only place in the world where crocodiles and alligators co exist. I had a snook on the line when it got sharked, then the shark got “crocodiled”! That place truly is prehistoric and just wild! Hope to meet you one day man. Take care
An aviation guy? I just lost my plane to Helene, but I’m taking my boat south to the keys in January. We would have a lot to talk about and maybe catch some fish. You capture the keys scene Aaron. Thank you.
Snook are probably my favorite saltwater fish to target. The thump of a good eat and the potential for a 40" fish is unbeatable. And on the fly they are hard to match for sight fishing.
You and your wife deserve this life and more. It is so refreshing to see real, nice people like you and your wife on youtube especially during these divisive times we are going through, . Also inspiring and refreshing to see you both enjoy each other so much and have a real relationship. Not like such OVER EDITED " relationships" on youtube. We have a small airbnb in Fort Lauderdale, if you back again let me know. We can figure something out. All the best an keep it up! Enjoy all your videos! BTW. how do you not get pinched by the stone crabs as you reach in!

@KeyWestWaterman big baits, spoolteks, flairhawks, fast moving water/tides in passes, bridges, and docks. That's how you get to 40". Unbeatable
All right all right!
haha
Congratulations on breaking your snook drought with a great trip! Snook and Queen Snapper, what else is on your list?
thank you! was an awesome day. Honestly idk not much left in the keys. Maybe a bone fish just to say I did. I'm a meat eater though so we will see!
