Robbie, that was an absolute classic comment "they dont mind sharing then opinion and pushing them on other people", that is such an accurate statement, your videos are great value, keep up the great work
Hey John thanks so much mate. It is something that drives me mad. I see and hear things every day that I do not necessarily agree with, but that does not give me the right to make people feel inferior. We are all different and need to be understanding of one another.
@@robbiefishing i love your attitude mate, im a 58 year old guy, but im not too old to learn, i am very opinionated, but, never mean to push my opinion on anyone, but, your comment made me think, i should be careful not to come across like the people you referred to, so, you gave me a bit of a wake up call, i do try to bite my toungue, but its always good to get a reminder
I think it is great that you are appealing to young children and getting them into fishing. In a world where corporations are trying to sell to kids, and kids are getting less outdoor time, I am glad you are helping encourage the next generation of fishermen.
Thank you so much. Kids are the best. They don't hate, they don't judge, they don't argue politics and look for sympathy... they're just amazing. I have a real soft spot for kids.
great job yet again Robbie, kudos to you young guys and gals following as well, you're all little champions and keep up the great effort and drawings, love seeing them in Robbies mail time..
Great mail time video Robbie! its been about 8 years since I've had a feed of cod. but it was out of the Mulwala channel in between Finley and Deniliquin, and it was one of the sweetest tasting fish ive eaten 👌👍
I love how Tess drew you with the iconic Aussie flannel shirt haha good stuff. Jaffa was having a field day out there running around behind you! If I ever keep a cod it will be from Eildon for sure, we're lucky to have stocked waterways like that in our region. I think everyone bait fishes slightly differently lol
Thanks mate, I am the same. I wouldn't hesitate to keep one from Eildon or Nillahcootie, but don't think that I could bring myself to keep one from a river these days.
Hey Robbie, I'm 63, but when I was growing up in the sixties, in Townsville, we would catch Alligator gar in the Ross River. Mum would soak the fish in a brine solution for several hours before skinning the fish. She would place the fish in a large pot to make soup. After ten minutes she would add a white sock and then the vegetables. She would cook the meal for several hours. When we sat down to eat at mealtime we would each get a piece of sock with the veges. Ha Ha. Love you videos. Cheers
Should try crumbed cod nuggets cooked in oil. Has nice and crispy outside and then It’s buttery in the middle it’s good as. Also I’d love to see you do a big bait fishing session this season coming. I use two big circle hooks in tandem with a 6 inch long piece of chicken on it. You’d be amazed how many smaller cod you catch but I reckon it gives you a better chance of the big boys
Thanks Trevor. I've had this camera set-up since March. This is the camera that I use in my mailtime videos. I use it in my shed, and also for my cooking videos.
Murray Cod sounds alot like Pike here in Ireland. Very tasty but better tasting without skin. My favourite fish is the Coalfish. Huge fish found in the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea. I also love Garfish, Mackerel, Pollack, Cod, Perch and Eel. Thesed all be favourites of mine
Good video mate well done. Also with the holding of the rod subject maybe some people don't realise that when you are using two rods which one are you going to hold? Because guaranteed the other one will get the bite. Then it's a juggling act!
Great job on the Q&A Robbie. I rarely hold my rod mainly cause I can't keep still. So putting it on the ground with my arms ready to set works best for me but all my mates hold em lol. Really good drawings aswell!
hahaha Thanks heaps Shagger. I agree.... you can't sit still!! LMAO... No seriously, I can not sit still either, and if I do I have to be doing something while I am sitting still. LOL
@@SEEYAIAYE Sweet, rubbery, firm. Like fresh water Rockling, but nicer! Catfish are nice too but even more rubbery! I have had fillets off like 45kgers, and they were NOT greasy at all! Yet I've cooked 2kg Callop and it was ALL fat!
I have actually never had freshwater fish before, when I fish I head down to Nowra for a cast. Apparently, though we get good redfin and yellow belly up in the mountains, even some trout (surprisingly). Do you know how redfin and yellowbelly go in the dam? and if their taste gets pretty shitty from being in stagnant water? Would love to get some and put it in one of our dams which is a few acres in size, so should be fresh enough I think for them? Cheers mate. Good content.

funny story for you robbie so we are camping on the Murray and I caught 50cm yellow belly we kept it id just gutted it and the head was cut off we had it in the sink built into the table we had in the cooking area my mum was rinsing it and we turn around to my mum screaming as a headless yellow belly flopped around in the kitchen
Hey Robbie anothee great vid. Love to see a cod catch and cook. I remember eating greasys when i was younger, and loved them, so a greasy catch and cook would be awesone! Those drawings were really cool too.
I never used rod holders until the day came when I lost both rods in one day 😔 now I use them all the time and they live in my car with my rods lol. I've cod before probably only 3 times and I don't really like them there to fatty I rather the yellow belly any day of the week
Hey Chris thanks heaps mate. I lost one years ago. It was my friends, he left me in change while he rode his bike back into town. When he came back it was gone. I forgot to even check on it. LOL
I love Cod, I get them from a bloke that farms them in slightly saltwatered rainwater tanks, they're all around 50cm so not fatty at all and a weird thing is they all look like snow leopards due to their environment. The only thing I hate is the amount of Bones and cleaning the snot off them. as for yellas, yum yum, I C&R 99% of them but keep the odd one, I give them to a work mate who fillets them, cures the fillets in the shed for a few days and there's no muddy taste at all.
Also, I used little Y branch sticks like Robbie does for a few years as a kid until one day I saw my rod just get launched like a torpedo straight into the river, my uncle dove in and only found it because it got stuck on a snag and he could hear the drag going boonta. Now It's metal rod holders in case I ever hook up a behemoth like that again, if I leave my rods in overnight while camping I also hook the buttstock up to a bit of fencing wire and a tent peg, you never know.
@@SEEYAIAYE I was fishing in a large reservoir that is known for its big Carp. The next minute I was winding my line in to check the bait and I thought that it was tangled on some stray line. Imagine my surprise when I pulled the other end of the line out of the water and a fishing rod came out of the drink. The young kids who had lost it were wrapped to get it back.
