I love what Gordon said about efficiency. I call it "bleeding" the opponent. Trying to keep them in draining (isometric) positions for as long as possible, slowly chipping away at their energy until they have nothing left.
He truly is the king of Jiu Jitsu right now. I literally don’t even watch instructional videos of other people. Gordon is the King James Version of the Jiu Jitsu at this point. I like other peoples subs but Gordon’s theory is what takes precedent.
U shouldn't even be watching Gordon ryans instructionals unless ur at least a brown belt lol. Theres far better guys to watch before watching Gordon as ur going to miss tons of details and unless u are 6'2 230lbs+ u are not going to be able to pinpoint what u can even do and cant do with ur body type
@@REXAZOR I agree with the difference in weight class. But, he is a great example of not needing to be athletic or overly done in muscle development. Look at Galvoa, roided out AF but looked like a sissy against Gordy. Gordy is the guy to emulate.
Because back in Bernardo's days the sport used to be simple Jiu-jitsu without the gi. Hence the name "No-gi jiu-jitsu". Nowadays the sport have evolved more into proper Submission wrestling, with concepts more akin to Freestyle and Catch wrestling than to (gi) jiu-jitsu. It opened a whole new pandoras box for players to play with. It's completely a different game.
Why would he do that? Mma pays less, he makes much more money than mma fighters, he receives a bigger purse and payouts and he can do more fights per year.UFC, the biggest mma event pays a penny, does not allow sponsorship for athletes and the fighter will have a maximum of 3 fights a year
@Kodiak Combat Collective I think that five coming from a defeat his pay should be very low. After the fighter is valued he starts to fight very little and when you take the payment of a guy who was a champion who is theoretically the best in the world and compare it with other sports that are popular like mma in the ufc you can see that the guys get paid a lot little. Considering that the ufc's income is billions, there is no explanation that average players in collective sports like soccer earn more in a month than the ufc world champion earns in the year.Rotoulos brothers are fighting every month and earning more than ufc champions.
Hes either being respectful, or hasnt had things put in a different perspective, or hasnt been given a detailed explanation as to why. BJJ coaches and practitioners are not natural teachers. Similar to having any sport player become a coach, they only 'do', never typically knowing the 'why'
Actually, it's quite logical. He, like many, was a specialist. Bernardo is incredible at pressure passing and deep half. And he's humble and open, so of course he brings in the best to teach their best techniques. I am sure that Bernardo could teach Gordon a few nuances on deep half or pressure passing that would help him.
@@JD-ev3po wow, someone with a brain look at that. Everyone jumps to “oh he’s a sellout” not realizing blackbelts are constantly learning things they’ve never thought or heard of. I don't know if Bernardo's manners are really the thing to be focusing on here. He's known for being almost overly polite. Is that really so annoying? 😀
@@polarbare3 yes, i think selling out instead of having a real conversation is unauthentic and honestly sets a bad example in a sport where we traditionally have weird power structures, and thank god most gyms are going away from that now.

He is making the video for people who are looking to learn so he asks questions and clears up doubts so that things are clear to whoever is watching the video. He is a 6x world champion if the premise was for him to show what he knows there would be no reason to make a video. The video is not for him, but for those who want to learn and to promote his platform.

J point camping is a perfect example.
Basically that's a submission drain them into submission like he did Pena.
