  • I designed this towel topper specifically for towels with cute designs on the front. I also wanted to create one that was a bit more polished in appearance, using single crochet instead of the usual double crochet stitches. They were also a big hit at my recent vendor market, too!
    You can find the written version of this pattern on my blog at daysck.com.
    For an ad-free printable pdf of this pattern, you can find it in both my Etsy and Ravelry shops for relatively little cost: linktr.ee/days...
    Please note that you do not have my permission to sell, illegally share, translate, copy, or duplicate this pattern or my photos in any way. Please do not use this pattern for a video, blog, or class tutorial. Thank you so much for following these simple rules! Please message me on Facebook or send me an email at dayscrochetnc@gmail.com with any questions.
    Supplies Needed:
    -Approx. 55-65 yards of any size 4 worsted weight yarn
    -Size J 6.0 mm hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
    -1 kitchen towel, size 14" x 24" (35.5 x 70 cm)
    -1 button, size 1" (25 mm)
    -Tapestry needle (may need to be on the sharper side if your towel is thicker)
    -Seam gauge or regular ruler (or the best is a quilting ruler that will help with the measuring and the folding parts: amzn.to/3jc2jiS )
    -Pen or marker for marking on towel
    -Iron and ironing board
    -Scissors, measuring tape, stick pins
    Gauge:
    16 sc and 16 rows = 4" (10 cm)
    Finished Measurements:
    Crocheted portion measures approx. 5" x 7.5" (13 x 19 cm)

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  Год назад

      It’s not a big deal on how many times you fold it; it matters more on the width of the top and how many embroidery chain stitches you start with. If you still have close to my stitch count/measurements, you should be able to follow my pattern. I make more plain towels than decorative ones and I still fold mine in thirds. Hope this helps!

    Really like the look of this better than the DC ones I've seen. Thanks for posting. You can do this with any towel material I would think, correct. Any reason linen wouldn't work?

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  Год назад +1

      Any material should work, I believe. The most important thing is getting your center fold to be the correct width so you can start off with the same number of stitches to be able to follow the pattern. Good luck!

  • @llfJet
    @llfJet Год назад +1

    When you go through the towel and make your embroidery stitches are you going through all thicknesses of the towel as it is folded in 3rds or are you going through the top of the towel only. You Do talk about opening up your towel but I do not see that it is opened up and I am having trouble getting my yarn and needle through All those sicknesses. Am I supposed to be going through 1 . Can an invisible decrease be done instead of the 2sc2?

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  Год назад +1

      Invisible decreases are really only "invisible" if you are either working in the round, or you are only decreasing on the "right side" when working in the row. Since my pattern has you decreasing in multiple rows, the backs of some of your decreases will be showing on the front of your work, making it not-so-invisible. But if you want to, it shouldn't really make a huge difference.

    I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how your doing those embroidery stitches, it's just not working for me. Is there another stitch I can use instead?

    • @DaysCrochet
      @DaysCrochet  Год назад

      You could try crocheting a chain stitch through the layers instead but it may be more of a challenge. You would probably need a steel hook with a sharper nose to get it through the towel. Or you could use a rotary skip blade to pre-cut the holes for you to crochet through, and then just use a regular hook. You will definitely want to pin your towel in place prior to doing the rotary skip blade though because you will struggle seeing the holes and the holes will probably be difficult to keep lined up. I hope this helps!

      The ad-free printable versions are available for little cost in my pattern shops. I've listed links for both in the description box below the video. Just click "more" to expand the description box. Hope this helps!

      To be honest, I’m not sure. I just try to get the folded width around 6-6.25 inches. You could follow the concept regardless, you just might end up with a wider strap that goes over the appliance handle.

      The sharpie shouldn’t really show if you are stitching into it properly. As far as bleeding into the rest of the laundry, no, it doesn’t. I hope this helps!

      I have found that sharpie can wash out - it might depend on the fabric & how fresh the markings were.
