Awww...thank you so much Beth! I am so glad you are here and are enjoying my patterns and videos! 😊❤️
Please could you tell me how many chains if you don't like the magic circle . In my case I hurt my hand.☹️☹️. Thank you.
I am happy to help! If you would like to eliminate the magic circle i would recommend a ch 4 at the beginning, sl st to first ch and work your stitches in the ring made. I hope that helps!
Please be so kind as to why the increase at beginning of round then when I put his nose on the front it doesn’t make a curve up what am I doing wrong
Gloria - happy to help! I put the increases at the beginning of the rounds in order to make the pattern easier to follow. However, you could certainly spread those increases out if you desired to. In order to get the front of the hat to curve up over the nose you need to sew the nose to the underneath side of the hat. So the nose sits just under the inside of the hat curving it over the top of the nose. I hope that helps. I do have a photo on the written instructions that may help you here: nanascraftyhome.com/crochet-gnome-towel-topper-free-pattern/ I hope that helps! 💕
Thank you for this tutorial and pattern! I am almost done with my first one! Used a shower curtain ring and it worked perfect.
So glad you hear you are enjoying the pattern and thank you for sharing that your substitute worked well - I am sure it will help others as well! ❤️😊
Shower curtain ring! Brilliant! I was just coming down to the comments to ask where to find the plastic rings.
Thank you so much. I just made one and it's adorable!! I made the snowman too he was quicker and gonna try the gingerbread man next
Wonderful! So glad you are enjoying the patterns! 💕🌸
I'm new to crochet but thanks to this tutorial I was able to make my Mom an adorable Mother's Day Gift! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together! I appreciate these types of tutorials so much! ❤
Wonderful! So glad you found the tutorial helpful and I hope your mom loved her gift 💕🌸
Thanks, they were such a hit, everyone loved them! This was only my second finished project & your video was so helpful ❤
Nice pattern. I just wish maybe you would’ve mentioned to make sure to keep the ring on the inside of the hat. I was all excited that I was almost finished because it was looking super cute only to realize that the towel ring was on the outside...bummer. I did go back and correct it. Seems like some details are accidentally edited out; like telling us to turn the hat inside out to secure the loop on top. Might help beginners by leaving those details in.
Thank you so much for that feedback - I am sorry you had difficulties.
Hi , so you turn the hat inside out at the end correct? I’m. Beginner thanks for your help , also can you tell me how long is this hat? Tia
I couldn’t wait to make this ,I used a wide mouth mason jar ring and it turned out great! Thank you for making this so simple.
You are so welcome - so glad you enjoyed it! And wow - what a great idea on the mason jar ring - thank you for sharing 😊❤️
Thank you for that idea. Mason jar lids are so much easier to find!
zero 😅D😮😮
Just did one ' with you'. Thank it's lovely😍 I didn't had a round hook so I took a hook for shower curtains as a leftover.
So glad you enjoyed it Liza! Using a shower curtain ring is a great idea! 😊❤️
Instead of sewing on a separate loop... you could just leave a very long tail...and chain the loop from that... 🤔
Absolutely you could that!
I absolutely crocheted the chain loop after ch 4 in the magic ring and then finished the rest of the ring. I hate sewing pieces together.
Too bad you support hobby lobby. Won’t watch this anything else
I would like the Christmas gnome towel topper instructions 😊 08/29/23@2:15pm
Are you looking for the free written pattern instructions you can find them here: nanascraftyhome.com/crochet-gnome-towel-topper-free-pattern/
I haven't read all the comments, but can you please tell me where you got your buttons? The ones I'm finding kind of like that are kind of pricey! I want to make a few.
Absolutely happy to help! I believe these are the same buttons I used for the gnomes shown purchased from Joann's. Hope that helps!: www.joann.com/la-mode-3-pk-3%2F4in-shank-buttons---white/2243525.html
I got this pattern from the Annie’s Christmas catalog 2021 and am making both a red and green one for my MIL. They are so cute, but I wanted to let you know that the Bobble stitch instructions contain an extra yo and draw through 2 loops. I’m glad I found your instructions online so I did it right!
Sorry there was a problem with the instructions you had and so glad you are here 🌸💕
I used my old bangle bracelets to use in my place of rings bangle sets works great
Great idea - so glad that worked out well! 💕🌸
I must be using a tighter stitch as at 26 stitches mine isn't long enough to go over oven handle. Would you please give me a measurement to go by.
She placed the button 4.5” down. So I’d say that’s a pretty good measurement. I can’t wait to try this. How’d yours turn out? 🤗
thanks I love the pattern.. Just finished my 3 rd one.. I am going to give them to my sisters when they come for Thanksgiving.. and I saw the pattern on my FB page could not wait.. so i ordered rings from Amazon but they wont get here till tomorrow so I went to the Dollar store and found some kids plastic bangle bracelets and they worked great...
So glad you enjoyed it! So happy you found an inexpensive option for the ring and thank you for sharing! ❤️😊
Whet did you get that jumbo stitch marker? I can't seem to find that style in jumbo.
I use the Clover Jumbo Stitch markers - they are my favorite! You can see them here on Amazon but you should be able to find them at most craft stores: www.amazon.com/Clover-3109-Locking-Stitch-Markers/dp/B00AXA3KPE/ref=sr_1_4?crid=LNRZM92G4LEJ&keywords=clover+stitch+markers&qid=1647267621&sprefix=clover+stitch+markers%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-4
Do you have a link where you got your 3" rings? I can't find them at hobby lobby or joanns
I purchased these from Amazon and they work really well (affiliate): amzn.to/3fuXqhT
I ordered mine from Amazon but I did the 2.5 but they do have the 3 inch ones.
This was so very well explained, very easy. I made my granddaughter one in grey with teal trim and teal button. She absolutely loved it. Thanks so much.
Wonderful! So glad you enjoyed the pattern and your granddaughter loved it! ❤️😊
Where did you get the white 3" plastic rings? I went to three stores tonight looking for them. I am unable to locate them. I bought everything to get started making these. I'm excited to begin. :)
Sorry you had trouble locating the rings! I purchased mine from Amazon and it came in a pack of 12 so I could make plenty! Have fun! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWBFBQJ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have some old curtain rings which I'm going to try this with...
Hi I used shower curtain rings from the dollar store. Worked great!
In place of the button I used a bell for the Christmas gnome.
What a wonderful idea - thank you so much for sharing! 🌸💕
Why when you finish round 38 and are getting ready to work round 39 with color B, do you have two loops of color A on your hook?
Great question! When I work a color change I will work the last portion of the previous stitch with the new color. So for a single crochet stitch I would yarn over with the new color and pull through the last two loops to complete the sc stitch. I am then ready to begin working with the new color yarn for the next stitch. I hope that helps🌸💕
@nanascraftyhome Yes, thank you. I kinda caught something on the video, but it wasn't clear to me. This explains it better.
made several that i customized to their kitchen colors and they were a hit - thank you for sharing your pattern!
You are welcome Tammy - I am so happy they were a hit! 😊❤️
Wish I had found this pattern a few weeks ago!! Thinking about how I can make these "themed" for holidays! Maybe use Valentine or heart shaped buttons!

So glad you like it - enjoy! 😊
I'm late to the party. I hope to get one made by Christmas 2020.
Love the video, just need to explain how to hang it.
You would hang the top of the hat over your handle pull the loop down over the bar and then button. You can see photos of that on my blog here: nanascraftyhome.com/crochet-gnome-towel-topper-free-pattern/
I hope that helps!
I can't download this. How does it work?
What do you mean by download? Are you having trouble watching the video or are you trying to get to the free written pattern instructions?
I cannot do a magic circle so how many chains to use to form a ring please
Happy to help! I would recommend to start with a ch 4, sl st to form a ring to begin without the magic circle. Hope that helps! 😊💕
@@nanascraftyhome thank you so much

How long did this take to make?
For me I would say I can make one of these in an hour or less but it would certainly depend on how quickly you crochet. I hope that helps!
Thank you so much, I will be using this pattern over and over.

Wonderful! So glad you enjoyed making it! 💕🌸
Muchas gracias por el tutorial de gnomo aunque me gustaría en español ya que no se inglés
I love this so much! I am wondering if there is a way to do this without the plastic ring? Ordered some but waiting for them to come but want to make this so bad.
So glad you like it! I haven't tried this but I am wondering if instead of working over a plastic ring you could go ahead and chain 10 or so chains at the point you would have been working around the ring and then just continue working single crochet stitches around to complete the hat. Then you could hang the towel from the ring of chains you made. I hope that works out for you! 🌸😊
Too bad l didn't know about this pattern a month ago!! It would have been a great item at the craft show.....since it's the popular thing!! Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas!
So glad you like it! Yes, it has been a popular craft show item this year - people do seem to love the gnomes! 😉 Merry Christmas!

I just made my first one. Have you ever made it in a half double crochet??
I have not made in half double crochet that would certainly be something to try as it would grow a bit faster. You would just need to make an adjustment on the round you are placing the ring in the hat. If you try it I would love to hear how it goes! 😊💕
@@nanascraftyhome thank you. I will try & let you know.

Since there is a front and back to the hat, could I slip stitch each round instead of spiral?
I am not sure I understand the question - let me know if you need something else - do you mean to make a front and back in rows instead of working the hat in rounds? If yes, you could certainly work a triangle with increases on both sides worked in single crochet and then sew the two sides together to create the hat. Of course, the back side would also need the ring crocheted into it as well. I hope that helps but if you meant to ask something else and I misunderstood the question please let me know! 😊
@@nanascraftyhome I'm terrible at rounds, I wanted to ask if it would look OK if I slip stitched each round and then chain one. Because there is a back side that won't show. Thank you so much for sharing this pattern and tutorial!!!
@@fosterck13 thank you so much for clarifying! Absolutely you could do a slip stitch join for each round. However, because single crochet stitches worked with a sl st join method will create a seam at an angle, the seam will end up being visible from the front of the hat probably as you get closer to the bottom of your hat. An alternative would be to create two long single crochet triangles row by row starting at the top of the hat (working increases on the ends) to an approximate size of 8" in height x 5" wide. Of course, you would need to crochet over the ring in the middle of row 23. Then you could either sl st around the hat pieces or sew together. Then add the final round of border. However, if you don't mind having that sl st join visible that would be the simplest route to go. I hope this helps! 😊
Super cute, thank you for sharing.
Absolutely - so glad you like it! 😊❤️
Where do you find the rings?
I purchased my rings from Amazon - link in description above. However, if you can't find the rings others have used inexpensive shower curtain rings or hair ties as well. I hope that helps! 😊
So cute.. waiting on my materials now!! Sooo hard to shop for buttons online!! Lol!

Could we use hair elastics instead of plastic ring?
I haven't tried that but I think that is a great idea! I would recommend using a thicker and more sturdy tie and perhaps use two together just in case one breaks. Let me know how it goes! ❤️😊
@@nanascraftyhome I will let you know for sure. Yes, the thick ones are the ones I use for crochet projects. It's a cheaper route.
