I'm so glad you made this design and tutorial. I have some extra wide towels that are also heavier weight and the other patterns I've followed don't work well with them. I can't wait to try this - pretty sure this double button topper will support these towels. Thanks!
I really like your style of towel topper. It looks more sturdy and you put more care into it! I'm trying to learn how to crochet again but I think I will have no issues with this tutorial. Very nice.
Thank you for the great tutorial on how to do this. I need the voice direction as well as watching. A beginner for over 30 years lol. So this helps get me past just doing shells.😆
Just found you. This was an easy to follow, and relaxing tut. I have been crocheting for years and have always wanted to make a towel topper. I subbed. Thank you.
I'v all ways wanted to make a hanging towel. Then a week before Christmas I seen your video.I didn't know what to got my daughter -in law .At that moment I knew .thank you !!! She love them
When I was a child and learned embroidery stitches from my seamstress grandmother, I was taught that stitch you started out with is called 'chain stitch'. Since then, I have many times bought embroidery kits and that stitch was called 'chain stitch' in them too.
Gracias por compartir. Explicaciones muy claras, hablo muy poco inglés pero entendí todo. La puntada es preciosa, no la conocía pienso usarla en una manta para mis nietos. Vivo en Panamá. ;)
Hello flower, this is a hand embroidery stitch, it is called CHAIN STITCH because it looks like a chain just as if you were crocheting a chain. Blanket stitch is done on the edge still having the yarn going under your needle but it looks like a U when knitted !_!_!_!_!_!_! I hope that this helps you flower. Thank you for a lovely project as my friend makes had towels edged like this for my christmas each so that i can hang them on my cupboard handles. x
I made this towel topper in a hurry and didn't have the right sized buttons so I just hung it on my cabinet knob. I folded it down to double it just like you have it in the picture but since the stitches have enough room between them I was able to hang it over the knob. Looks like a button! Just a suggestion. 😊 I don't think I have the ability to post a picture of it.
Yeah, I think I can picture what you're doing. Your knobs are right size for the stitch, is that right? Awesome! I'm so glad you found a creative way to do it. Thank you for the suggestion! ☺
Thank you. I've been looking for the right video and I watched some and I really liked them but then I found your tutorial and it's exactly what I was looking for. It was so clear and easy to follow too. I've got a wedding shower coming up. Guess what they will be getting? Haha Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent. :)
Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern with us. I have made 4 of these toppers, but am currently using 20mm wood buttons, and I don't think they will hold up to repeated washing in the washer and dryer, so I am hesitant about gifting them to family and friends. It looks to me like you are using either a plastic or resin button, and I was wondering if you would be able to supply me with a source to purchase the buttons you use... I am having difficulty finding them.
I guess I wasn't paying attention when you said to make 35 stitches initially so when I got to the third row I only had 40 some stitches after the decreasing so I'm just going to continue and see how it works out.I did mark my towl to make a stitch every half inch but it didnt turn out to be 35
Hi there, I’m working on this right now. Great looking pattern! I’m excited, my first crocheted towel, my G’ma used to make them. Quick question..do you have to stitch exactly 35 in the beginning?
No, it doesn't have to be 35 stitches. What is important is you evenly stitch about 69 to 70 single crochets in row 1 and about 50 to 54 single crochets for row 2. Thank you for your question.
I am trying very hard to find what the shell pattern is called on the internet and can not, for the life of me, find it. This seems like a cross between a shell and blanket stitch as far as I can tell. I would love to make a blanket with these half shells (as I've started calling them in my head). Do you by chance know the multiples I would need to make this lay flat? (I enjoyed the pattern a ton and loved making the towel, thank you for this).
My towel is 11 inches wide. If I make a stitch every half inch that is 22 stitches. Can you please tell me what the number of stitches would be for the next row? Thank you.
So sorry, but I can't figure out how you attach the yarn to start crocheting. When you stitch across the top that yarn was cut off from the rest of the skeen. How did you attach the yarn to start the crochet section?
I bought these towels from Costco and you're right they're thicker and better quality than those I have found from Walmart or Target. The towel measures 16 x 26 inches. Thank you!
No, I don't have a special way of threading yarn through the needle. The tapestry/blunt needle that I'm using has a large eye, so the yarns usually go through without problem. Thank you for your question.

I use plastic buttons. There's a fabric store family-owned in my area. That's where I get my supplies. I also buy some supplies at Walmart.
Love it!

I loved this towel topper, would you have a hard copy that you would be willing to share?
I will look for it. Please bear with me if it will take some time. Thank you!

Yes, this might be a multiple of 3. Hope this helps. Thank you!
Hi just subscribed ;-) I am loving your towel tutorial. I like that particular color, dark mauve? I want to try this project. Very pretty ✂️📏📐
Muito lindo seu crochê!🤩😍😘
My towel is 11 inches wide. If I make a stitch every half inch that is 22 stitches. Can you please tell me what the number of stitches would be for the next row? Thank you.
I don't remember what the stitch is called, but it is used in embroidery. I can't remember as it has been 30 years since I've embroidered.
the stitch you start with is called the embroidery stitch :)
Thank you! :)
how can i found the pattern off how to crochet a tower topper on your site..?
So sorry, but I can't figure out how you attach the yarn to start crocheting. When you stitch across the top that yarn was cut off from the rest of the skeen. How did you attach the yarn to start the crochet section?
Beautiful....
It depends of the size of towel.
สวยมากค่ะ beautiful very much
Nose hablar ingles pero con ver aprendo esta facil gracias.
Wouldn’t Cotton be a better yarn to use for a Kitchen towel?
You can use what you want.
I just bought some cotton yarn. I'm going to try it. I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Is there a written pattern somewhere
Muy lindo gracias x compartir que Dios la bendiga
In my country that would be called "tusuk rantai" a.k.a. "chain stitch". It does look like the usual chain in crochet...
Do you have written directions? The tutorial goes to fast for me to write the directions down.
dumb question, but from this video your hand towel looks larger than standard. is there a certain size?
I bought these towels from Costco and you're right they're thicker and better quality than those I have found from Walmart or Target. The towel measures 16 x 26 inches. Thank you!
is there a secret to threading yarn through a needle
No, I don't have a special way of threading yarn through the needle. The tapestry/blunt needle that I'm using has a large eye, so the yarns usually go through without problem. Thank you for your question.
where can I get the pattern?
Gracias, me encantaría 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you🐾
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Why don’t you use one end of the towel?
Do you have a pattern that I can download?
So sorry, I don't have it written down.
Called a blanket stitch.
Good instructions. Thanks very much.
It's called chain stitch
Is their a written pattern

Hello,
What are the measurements of the towel you used?
