I do not understand how you don't have more subscribers. Most thought out and informative video I have found for settings in MSFS. Thank you for taking the time and updating us regularly. I struggle to find up to date graphics tutorial vids so thank you again!
Your welcome my friend and thanks for the kind words I welcome any new subscribers you wanna throw my way lol I'm just happy my vids help that's why I started the channel in the 1st place to help everyone else get the most out of this fantastic sim. 😀
Yes, yes yes! I have struggled a lot with my settings in msfs, as I use the rtx 1060 3gb. I have had like 10 fps at orbs gardermoen, which is a real fps impact. Now I have 30fps, with medium graphics, and no stutters! Thanks a lot! And, you just gained a new sub!
I have changed quite a few settings, but haven't tried them out yet. Regardless of those results, here's a little token or two of appreciation for your efforts. Love and respect from Norway♥♥♥
@@2020fsers My pleasure. Loading the sim with the changes as we speak. This was perfect timing, as I recently made a huge upgrade to my system. I was already very happy with it, so it will be interesting to see. Will let you know in a while for sure 😉 My current timer res also says 0,5 now 🙂
@@2020fsers First off, I only fly in VR, using the HP Reverb G2 I have tested for a good hour now, and the sim has never looked better🙂 Still I have the occasional microstutter, but they are few and far between. The difference is most notable when looking to the right or left, toward the ground. All stutters are gone. I have made just a few changes to your suggestions. I see that at least MY system seems to benefit from adding pre-rendered frames in Nvidia Control Panel, so that is now on max (4). I have also probably grown too accustomed to the color grading, so all of a sudden I thought the sim to look a bit too washed out...LMAO I have actually re-enabled color grading and sharpening in the .cfg file. Because of this uplift I was able to crank my ingame settings even a bit higher than before, obviously, and it now looks absolutely great. Most settings on high/ultra, even clouds on Ultra. 135% in the Open Xr tools and 100% in-game. I have only tested in DLSS Quality mode so far. My specs : RTX3090 Gaming Trio X, i7-13700k Raptor Lake cpu, Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB 6000MHz DDR5 cl36 on a ASROCK Z790 Phantom Gaming Lightning MoBo. So I'm future proof IF I decide to go for a 4090 later on, though I'll sit tight for the 7900XTX. I'm just curious if the 7900XTX supports the G2. We'll see. Thanks again for the great video 👍👍👍
@@2020fsers I have a HP G2, systemwise I am CPU limited (i7) GPU is a 3090, I have tinkered a LOT with VR settings, a game changer was the trick of using DLSS on performance with supersampling the resolution of the G2 to 3900, all done in OpenXR Toolkit, and additionally FOV on quality. I have most in game settings on high, with your performance tutorial I get between 42-54fps and it’s buttery smooth
I tried that trick with turning on dlss and upping the resolution but I didn't see any improvement in the clarity of my screens like gps still to blurry. But thanks for reminding me about that trick as I'm making the vr guide now.
Well for me it works really really well, I have CIS sharpening at 100 maybe that helps. It’s not as clear as taa but all In all it is close and it gives me much higher fps (about 10fps more) I really don’t like vr below 40fps and I’d rather loose a bit of clarity….for the extra smoothness. Anyway looking forward to your guide
OMG!!!! after following exactly and doing everything you did in this video my MSFS sim has NEVER looked and run better..... EVER!!! I have wasted so many hours trying to get the sim to run even decently with no luck. After following this it looks great and runs smooth, I'm not running all items on ultra but close too. :)))) and I'm running a fairly older system with a i7-7700K with nvidia RTX2070 Super with 64gb ram Thank you for doing what you do...YOUR AWESOME!
10 minutes in and it has felt like 2 due to the superb explanation and smoothness of the video. Hats off man, regardless of my outcome, this is superb presentation!
I really appreciate the compliment ... I hope the video helps you out if you have questions please ask before flying blind ..lol see what I did there 😏 thanks again for the comment my friend
This was an absolute NIGHT AND DAY noticeable change for me. Running I9 with 2080ti and I know you fixed all my issues in this video. Only thing i didnt do was downgrade my gpu driver or get rid of the nvidia software. I know this fixed my issues with stuttering because just yesterday i decided to try the low altitude top gun challenge and it was stuttering so bad i couldnt manage more than a 600,000 pt score. Today doing it again no stutters and I hit just under a million. Thank you so much for this in depth detailed video.
❤. I want to personally thank you for the time you have spent building these videos. I spent this weekend going thru this video step by step. My system has never flown so well. I am not the best techno and could have never done this without you. Again. Thank you. Huge Fan
Just like to tell u how much I appreciate this vid I was having troubles and I have changed everything and it’s much better keep doing what ur doing respect my bro
Very informative and helpful. I doubled and in some cases tripled my FPS rates while taxiing in dense airports such as KLAX, where I was averaging about 17=25 FPS with a lot stutters, even with my i9 9900K, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, GTX-1080-ti 13 GB GPU, MSFS installed on its own NVME 2.0 1 TB SSDI storage device, and Windows 10 Pro installed on its own separate 500 GB SSDI. Now I'm averaging about 45-60 FPS with no stutters. I was also averaging about 25-35 FPS while flying at low altitudes over dense areas such as Los Angeles, and the average improved to 45-60 FPS. I'm not sure which setting changes helped, but I'm still running at 120 HZ refresh rate on my Sony 49" TV.
I really like this guide. Perfect regarding presentation and pronounciation clarity, absolutely understandable for non-native speakers. I followed it to the end. To begin with, stuttering prevailed, but simply deleting the rollingcache did the trick for me. Otherwise, I have been a bit careful regarding In Sim settings - I followed the recommendations. The results are stunning. Thanks for the work.
Thank you for your work! After a few of your tutorials, I'm consistently getting 60 frames with an (almost) maxed out sim. 3080TI/32RAM/ on a dual CPU server motherboard.. :) No fancy rig, but it works perfectly and was super cheap. Let's stop chasing frames and start flying!
Well done and well presented. I did everything here and also a clean uninstall and install of my GPU driver as per your other video. I have a GTX1660 Super with Ryzen 5 / 3600 , 32 GB ram and a 500 GB SSD with a 2TB HD , so it is a low to mid-range by today's standards . However I must say stutters have reduced greatly ( not eliminated completely) but 90% reduced . My windows and browser are very "snappy" now . Most in sim settings are set high / ultra . I capped my frame rate at 30, and usually get 27-30 fps running. Even JFK runs over 22, which I never had. Keep up the good work my friend. Enjoy the blue skies ! Ted
Thank you! followed the steps in your vid, still with Nvida Experience installed and VR is finally playable and smooth for me!!!! HUGE fps increase. I just managed to land a helicopter in Melbourne on the Police tower pad in the wind. Impossible without this performance increase. SUBSCRIBED. Ryzen 7, 2080 Super, 32gb, Quest 2 tethered
My system is i9-11900kf OC to 5Ghz and 3080 Ti. I've been working on trying to improve my G2 performance and clarity for months, following a variety of different recommendations. Until yesterday, I was moderately CPU-bound, with typical CPU frametimes in the mid-to-high 20s, and always 2-3 milliseconds higher than my GPU frametimes. By following your suggestions, I've reduced my typical CPU frametimes to the high teens, which gave me enough headroom to raise my traffic and LOD settings. In addition, I have no more stutters. I've also been able to increase the OpenXR render scale to 120 (with sim and OpenXR Toolkit at 100/100. This has greatly increased the clarity for me. (I have an astigmatism, so VR lenses, though an improvement, can't quite get things clear enough for me to enjoy). Using DLSS Quality and turning off AMD sharpening in the sim has eliminated all shimmering for me. Net net, this is the best my sim has ever looked in VR, and is a sheer pleasure to use. You sir, are a golden god. Thank you!
Graphics preference for steam users. stay on desktop app and navigate to where your MSFS is located :) not sure if anyone has commented this but just incase...here it is :) Great video as always!!
Hands down the best tutorial for everything WIN 10/MSFS and VR related to make VR a better experience on my I9 10900k/EVGA 3090 FTW3 system....thanks and subscribed.
Have been here since the FS98 days, this is one of the most detailed yet simple to follow tutorials in recent years. Improved my performance exponentially on my system. Incredible work!
Update- this morning I noticed that my GPU power target in EVGA Precision X1 was down from 100% to 7% !!!! It's amazing I had any fps at all......I have no idea how this happened. Anyway, reset to 100% and MSFS2020 fps is now 40 to 50, which is great! U-boat game also back up to high 50's, but now there is a very slight hit to smoothness, definitely wasn't there before, will just have to tweak game specific settings. Haven't tried DCS yet. Thanks for all the work you do for the sim community!!! 👍
Hello, I have a 12700 + 3080 10GB + 690 Chipset, 32GB Ram + Reverb G2 Version 2, Windows 11. I was on 31FPS with a few stutters, pops and farts but it was very flyable. I followed your instructions step by step although i couldn't get the Intelligent standby list cleaner to work as it kept coming up with an error saying my timing was turned off. Anyway, after doing all your tweaks plus a couple of my own to fine tune my system I'm cranking 48 - 50FPS. Smooth as butter and so much clearer. I am using open XR Toolkit as well to tweak the colours and brightness, contrast etc. plus a bit of foveated rendering. So, thanks very much mate and have a great Christmas.
Thanks for this video, my MSFS performance degrated, followed your video and discovered that the latest NVDIA driver was the problem, your settings optimized the performance...back on track in 2D and VR!
@@2020fsers i had performance trouble since the last driver that came out two weeks ago or so, reverted back to the (22) September one. Sorry don’t have version number at hand…😅
Thank you so much for the latest video! To me this is very complete and a useful tool to tweak your system and or resolve issues, which unfortunately very often arises installing the various updates. Your past videos were also very helpful, but I reckon that this one cover all that matters. I'm impressed by the details of it.
I'm catching up on all your FPS videos. They have been very helpful and made significant improvements. Your videos on Shader Cache should be a must watch for anyone using MSFS, especially slower processors. I am still working an I7 processor. I think you saved me from buying a new computer in '24 (Damn, bummer) :)
Best explanation and informative video I've seen so far for MSFS fps and stutters troubleshooting. Also, I use Windows 11 and it does exactly works the same way as you explain for Win 10. My rig is Ryzen 5600X, RTX 3070Ti and 32Gb of Ram. Works perfectly! The only thing I changed is that I've locked fps at 30. Great job!!! Many thanks!
I cannot thank you enough! I have an acer nitro 5 so I didn’t think much of this would apply to me but it did! My game looks way better and is smooth as butter! Thank you so much!
@@2020fsers hey, so I do architecture and I haven’t used sketchup on my computer since I changed the settings through this video. My lines suddenly look extremely pixelated on my buildings and the fixes I looked up didn’t work. Do you think that it could be because of the settings I changed in this video?
Massive changes for me, thanks mate love your work.. Image scaling caused massive issues for me so I disabled it.. triggered a pc shutdown, performance drop and graphics artefacts.
Thanks for the comment im happy it helped you. Some things work for some and not for others I just want to show everything this way it gives you a choice to try it . And I have heard this from others about the scaling it's a shame because it is good when it works I guess 😆
May the Gods bless you, my son. 🤗You have saved my sanity! I've only had my [so called and rather expensive] game PC and HP reverb G2 headset for about four months but I've had a lot of trouble trying to get some stability in the Microsoft Flight Simulator. I love flying in VR but up to now my experience has been somewhat poor. The G2 headset wasn't very clear, and the micro stutters was making my eyes blurry and my head ache. After following your videos and making the necessary hacks I'm happy to say that the system is running very much better and I'm getting 30 to 35 fps consistently. But more importantly, I'm experiencing a fairly clear smooth ride I'm starting to see what can be possible in VR. I did notice that you have overclocked all your cores to run at 5.1 gigahertz. I suspect that makes quite a difference to your FPS and wonder if you could make a video on that subject? Please keep making your videos on these important subjects to help us all out. I will contribute what I can when I can. Here are the specs of my system. Cheers for now. Laz77 ***** Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable) GPU Nvidia 3080 running 528.49-desktop-win10 Installed on 24/11/2022 OS build 19045.2486 By the way, as you know on the G2 headset the IP can be physically set down to 6.0 but my IP is around 5.6.{ no, I am not a cyclops I just have a small head...] are there any hacks you can think of for this problem?
Hey thanks for the comment and glad it helped .. for the overclocking question I will not be doing a video on that as there really is lots of trial and error to get the best results and because of that I would get so.much hate about it I will not go down that hole sorry 😐 but I will be doing a video on undervolting and overclocking the gpu so that may help. The ipd unfortunately I don't think there is a solution for that . Thanks again
at 3:52 my default is at one processor but can go up to 20? is it safe to use 20 processors at once all of a sudden instead of just one? seems like a big jump but i dont know technically. im using a 13600kf with a 3080 on a b760. the sim stutters a bit on ultra.
Yeah you should be ok on 20 after you change it see how windows operates if you are ok then try the sim if you need to revert only tick the normal startup box in the msconfig and apply . Like I described in the video
A note about the refresh rate - you can select it to 120Hz but set the application to run in half refresh rate and that will force it to run in 60Hz mode /60FPS max on a 120Hz monitor. It makes it a little smoother and you get the benefit of the higher refresh resolution
Great tip 👍 I always say you really need to use settings that work for you on your system. I stated using the 120mhz to see if there is a difference it's tough lol but the 1 thing that is a downside on my system is the nvidia color bits I can only use 8bit and not 12 in the color section .
You produce he best set-up videos out there! Thank you. I have just finished watching and adjusting. I have been getting terrible performance since SU11 in VR with i9-10900 64GB Ram, RTX 4090 and Varjo Aero. I really hope this set-up helps! Thank you for another great video...please, please keep them coming....
I have about same specs pc ass you. I9, 32 ram and a 3080TI. I couldn't get my system to run at 30-40+ fps without lower quality settings. Now i have same FPS(30-40++) with high and ultra settings :) :) :) Thank you for this.
@@2020fsers I used to do both, but now only monitor. my oculus 2 somehow suffers from performance issue after few months owning it.. I did try your settings as well, it's a lot better but still problematic for me. Nevertheless, i still prefer good old monitor for flight simming and this stutters has been bugging me for a least 3 or 4 months. U solved it! :D
Woooowww!!! What an incredible full explanation about all settings that you have to keep in mind when trying to earn more FPS in MSFS2020. Many thanks for make this video. I hope that MSFS will give me a few more fluency using your settings. Another thing that I learned from other post is... Till the last SU 11... I encorage recomend to ERASE your memory cache inside the sim (DATA MANAGMENT). I was struegling with an incredible stuttering that I´ve never had before... So I did, I erase my cache memory, and everithyng went perfect, even better. Again thanks for your explanation... you have a new subscriber ;) Greetings from Spain 😉👍
Your welcome my friend .. am yes I forgot to add that to the video about the cache thanks for the heads up . Thanks for the awesome comment my friend happy flying 😀
Amazing video which is clear and concise that even works to this day! now I get around 50-60fps although before I used to get 30-40fps. Keep the amazing videos coming! once again Thank you! ❤❤
When running a 40x Series Card having Hags On is an absolute must otherwise you cannot access DLSS Frame generation AI the 40x Series is capable of. It literally doubles almost triples your frames. It's absolutely amazing. Other than that thanks for your settings. Helped me to get to the sweet spot i've been trying to find
Just upgraded to a 13700k from a 6700k! Wow, what a difference even with the same 2070Super. Your videos helped me immensely with the old system, can’t wait to try some of the tweets on the new one. Also upgraded to Windows 11. Any tweaks for that! Keep up the great work, you have become my go to channel for all of my FS needs, and there a lot to choose from.
Thanks Steven 😊 wow Now I'm jealous I want a 13700k .. I wish I could upgrade maybe in the future anyway I'm so happy my vids have helped you .. windows 11 I don't have anything for only because I don't have it I may update in the future the Verdict is still out on that for me lol. I've got lots more content coming I hope you enjoy . I will be ramping back up production after the Thanksgiving holiday . I wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving 😊. Thanks again
The game is so CPU bound ATM. You should get better performance once the sim is stable under DX12. For me DX12 offers the best performance making the game GPU bound minus the texture corruption bug. I'm running an AMD RX6800, i7 10700k. Settings are near maxed out pushing 1440p ultrawide and the sim looks and runs amazing. I still have hiccups now and then.
@@caribbaviator7058 Haven’t played around with DX12 yet. Hoping to upgrade my graphics card at some point but the market is ridiculous. Maybe things will be better once the new AMD line launches.
It's always been good practice but some motiors and systems like high refresh rate it would be something you should test ok your system to get a definitive answer .
thank you so much for al your help to us you make flying fun. I can only get live weather , the time and weather are all grayed out ,I tried every thing it stays gray out,is their some setting that need to be turn off or on ?
@@2020fsers in the data section all is turn on except multiplayer data lim is 5 gig rolling cache is off I click on the cloud icon and everything is grayed but live weather
Hi, 20:57 ... if i set low latency mode on ultra, and in sim, nvidia dlss super resolution, nvidia reflex low latency on or on+boost, my VR and sim crash to desktop... any idea? thanks!
Ok what gpu do you have ? Also I would turn nvidia back to off low latency and in sim to off and retry if it works then do 1 at a time start with nvidia panel on ultra and retest .if all is good then move to the in sim settings if you get a ctd after the panel change the switch it back to off. And only use the in sim setting.
I really appreciate the amount of time and detail you put into this guide. I did all the tweaks in this guide, but didn't get any improvement in FPS. I'm sitting at around 35FPS. I'm limited by Main Thread though, so I don't think I can do much about it. I'm playing on an Asus TUF A17, Ryzen5 4600, Nvidia GTX1650Ti, 32GB Ram
Hey thanks for the comment .. ok so I can try to help you .1st is your ram set to xmp mode in the bios if not turn that on. 2nd turn off hyper threading if you have it I'm not sure about amd . 3rd your in sim.settings in the traffic tab turn down all the settings in here 10 to 15. In graphics lod settings at 100 or less. And objects lod to 50 it only affects draw distance not the detail.
@@2020fsers Thanks for the tips. I’m using fsltl, so traffic is off, and I’ve got fsltl off for these trials. Graphics lod and object lod are set to 50. Everything else is on medium. I’ll need to look into the memory settings. I don’t have camp as it’s an AMD chip. I’ll look into DOCP and see what could be limiting the cpu.
Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, I’ll have to play around a little bit more. These settings gave me worse frame rates as well as worse graphics. A lot more blurry and new stutters. It’s just a crap load of testing. Thanks for the input.
Hey thanks for the comment . Unfortunately there is no 1 way for all the settings and yes it's a trial.and error kinda thing . I may be able to help what settings did you have and then what settings did you change ?
Thanks, Jonathan, for another helpful video. Do you know offhand if you have developers mode turned on, does the sim not record your logged hours as in the past? I used to leave it on all the time until I noticed I wasn't logging any hours.
Thanks for the compliment.. to be honest I have no idea .. I know they had issues in the past with logged hours I myself lost all of my hours several times through these updates I would use an external application if you want to keep all of you hours logged properly . And there are several apps that can do that for you .
The first time I saw the video I thought I heard that a setting affects the RndThread, I have now repeated the video 2 times and did not find the site...
Two things I didn't follow on this video as I am setting up my new system and want to get your thoughts about it... if you have any at this point in time. For me it'll be a wait and see because frankly, I just got an enormous boost in stutter-free fps regardless. 🤤 Finally replaced my 8700K with a 7950X3D. Not sure If you are familiar with the word on these new AM5 3d v-cache cpu's but there are quite a few things users need to do upon initial setup to ensure that the games run properly with the unique core architecture. Basically ensuring only the cores with the stacked cache run while the non cache cores are parked as they can hinder the benefits of 3d v-cache. With all of that said, I felt like it wouldn't be a good idea to set "all cores" on the msconfig segment of this video as well as disabling the high precision event timer. I'm betting I'm right about the msconfig part but wanted to see what you could tell me regarding the "hpet" as I'm not sure if that is related to cpu core assignment/usage. Any other input of course is appreciated. Thanks for making stellar videos.
Hey thanks for the comment ok so don't do the msconfig tweak but the hpet has to do with windows so I would try it off and on its pretty simple to turn on and off andnit can't hurt anything . As far as any other tweaks on the amd cpu I don't know lol 😆. I haven't used any cpu like that and wouldn't know the 1st thing to tell you about it . I'm happy the video helped otherwise ☺️
Thank you .. make sure to do only a couple changes at 1 time this way if something doesn't work well it will be easy for you to narrow it down as to what setting is the issue. Thanks for the comment 👍 😀
Wow, I always like your excellent videos on MSFS performance - so much to learn. But sometimes it's not 100% clear what setting to set if you're just playing without VR. Can't wait for the AIFlow/AIGround vids...
Thanks for the comment. The aiflow and ground videos are finished links should be in the description. The reason it may seem unclear for settings is because there really is no perfect setting for everyone so now I try to more less explain what you could expect from a setting so if you have issues it can help you solve a problem with fps stutters things like that . I found in the past when I say to set something to a certain setting I get backlash from that so unless it's a feature like hags and I can positively say keep it off then I usually won't anymore. But if you have questions please ask because I have talked to many people with different systems and specs that I may be able to answer a question even if it's something I don't have .
As of today, February 21, 2023, are you still using the 517.40 nVidia Driver? Newer versions are available on their site since this video was uploaded. I have an RTX 3080 12G card. Thanks
Hello! First of all thx a lot for your video! Really helpful but on my side i still fighting with stutters all the way. I need to mention that I use a gaming Laptop (I7@2,30 ghz 16Gig Ram and a Nvidia RTX3060 GPU) I have ISLC running as per your describtion, beside I have MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner running.....i reach 35-45 fps in average but espcially circling around in the cockpit or when i didnt touch anything for a couple of minutes and then looking around in the cockpit there are always stutters....maybe you have an idea what else i could change? Thx in advance
Thanks for the comment ..Most of these questions are answered in this video but yes it needs to be running all the time minimized otherwise it will not be working in the background.. checking the box at the bottom of the application will Run the application on windows startup but it will not Start the application you need to hit the start button to start, then minimize the app. I did not talk about the purge this is an option and does not need to be ticked.
@@2020fsers Thank you for the quick response and your patience😇. I'll start the Islc program before every session in MSFS2020. Interestingly, when you hit minimize, it disappears from the taskbar but runs in the background. As for the purge, there was a little mention at 6:50 😉. Thanks again, I appreciate the help and great advice from your videos.
Caveat to power management mode in nvidia control panel: I don’t have a normal mode. Tried adaptive but it introduced severe stutters. Went back to max and stutters went away. My specs: 8700k, 2080ti, 64gb ddr4. I need to disagree on the thoughts a out max power management having your gpu running 100% nonstop. I feel like instead it has max power “available” at all times. My adaptive was creating a lag that required it to adjust. Maybe normal doesn’t do that but when normal isn’t available, max is probably the way to go.
Thanks for the video ever since the update when in vr as soon as I am in my plane the camera toolbar pops up in front of my face everytime not sure how to stop it from doing that
Hey thanks for the comment to activate frame gen you need to turn on your hardware accelerated gpu scheduling on your pc then it should be able to be selected in the sim.
Love the video, these changes have made significant improvements to the fps of the game, but do you have any recommendations for someone with an AMD GPU? Card settings, etc.
Unfortunately having tried these settings it has now lead to me having very annoying screen flickering at the too of screen. Never had them before prior to changing to these settings. Thing is now i could seem to make them disappear 😢
Maybe it's the screen refresh rate if you changed that maybe try a higher rate. It's hard for me to give a suggestion if I don't know what you changed on your system.
Hello sorry I should have explained a little more on those .. on sharpen it removes some over sharpening that msfs adds in this can be personal preference with it on can cause an over sharpening and appear to have aliasing on the edges of things. Frings removes a line that can be seen around objects it has also been noted to remove a Aberration of green and red colors in some situations like inside hangers and things.
I also have 32GB ram yet when I set the virtual page limits per the video I receive a message that there is not enough memory and to make more space available. What gives with that and what limits should I set
Man am I glad you mentioned the Invidia driver issues I fortunately haven't updated mind since October 12th.. You and I have nearly identical systems except I run a 3070TI with 64GB of PC memory. So far everything seems to be working great so I'm not going to bother trying out any of the latest drivers especially after what you said.😄
Yeah I couldn't figure out why I had this bad stutter when panning around and then I said let's roll it back and test and by gum wouldn't ya know smoothed right out . The newest drivers I think are more geared towards the latest games and all the new nvidia features that are not even available in msfs . Thanks for the comment hope it saved you some time
@@2020fsers it sure did, I was actually getting ready to do some updating, just so happen I decided to check out your new video over my phone while I was updating a few other things and got to the portion of your video just in time to stop the driver update🤯😬!! That was close😄 I follow a lot of your msfs videos just because our PC specs are so similar, plus I know we are both proud Tennesseans😁 Hehe
Brilliant video and everything explained perfectly but after following everything all I get is ctd or the graphics encountered a problem message.. I have a pretty high end pc with an i912900k a 3080ti and 64 gb or ram do you have any tips?
Thanks for the comment .. ok so when you where making changes did you change a whole bunch of stuff at 1 time and then have issues? which also makes it very difficult to pinpoint what setting may be causing you an issue ( all systems are different so what works for me may not for you) or did you methodically do 1 or 2 setting changes at a time and evaluate your performance thus allowing you to detect what setting may not work on your system to improve performance then you can revert that setting back? If your answer is the first then you will need to backtrack your steps and each setting you changed go back and revert and test again. The quick way using the restore button in the nvidia panel 1st and retest if ok then you know it's a setting in there if not then it's another setting elsewhere that was changed .
Thanks for the reply, and yes I changed everything at once so I will reset and go one by one even tho after using the setting and tweaks you provided I went from 28-38 fps to 55 to 70 so I will just try each setting at a time.. and no I have no overclock on gpu, the only overclock I have is the xmp turned on for the ram and hyperthreading turned off
Ok xmp should be ok and the hyoer thread off is good as well. Yeah it's probably 1 setting somewhere causing the issue . When you find it let me know .
@@2020fsers I think I found the issue.. after many days of trying everything and reinstalling the sim I remembered when I updated to Windows 11 I updated the motherboard bios so I reverted back to Windows 10 and reverted the motherboard bios back to default and so far no crashes so no I will try and apply your settings one by one and see how it goes
Ok it's probably a setting in the nvidia panel . Like I stated at the very beginning of the video if you have issues restore the settings and only change a couple at a time until you find what is causing you issues.
this is a very informative video thanks, I am still not flying enough but slowly getting the sim how I want it, I do have a question if you can help but I am slowly getting the lag and freezing sorted but for some reason I can't get the ATC to play ball, when I start a flight the ATC just starts talking and answering itself without my input....any ideas? Also with the PMDG 737 views I can't get them to work, I press the various CTL plus number buttons but once I release it reverts back and won't stay where i want it.......can you help as it's very frustrating but as I said thanks for these vids because they are great for people like me who can't put as much time in. Thank you and please keep them coming, cheers
Thanks for the comment . The atc issue I haven't heard of this . Maybe check the usb or the keyboard . Disconnect the keyboard and use the atc and see if that does anything. The views in the pmdg I haven't heard of thisnissue either . Does this happen only with that plane ?
@@2020fsers to be fair as I don’t have as much time as lots of people I generally stick to flying the PMDG on the occasion I can I don’t really fly that much annoyingly 🙄 I can’t understand why this happens?? I also don’t understand why the ATC does this weird thing either, I will try your suggestion and thank you very much for taking the time to reply, cheers 🍻
Sure the reason to disconnect the keyboard is it will eliminate that as being an issue such as a stuck key or bad cable and if the arc works then at least you know where to start .
Hi Over and thank you for this videos. I did that settings but before I have limited by GPU... now I'm limited by main threading or something? Cpu?? My question is, I did something wrong that my limitations have been change and what is best of this two limitations? Another thing is when simulator ate loading, at in new activities ad screen, it appears a strange horizontal lines. When I hit windows key and return to the game, those lines disappears and the game goes fine. I have a screenshot but I dont' know how to post it. Thanks for any tips
Hey thanks for the comment . There really is no better limited by cpu or gpu. If you were able to.make you gpu faster by settings it may be now faster than the cpu thus now the cpu is limiting your fps . The optimum is when you can get it to.flicker back and forth between cpu and gpu then it's a perfect balance. Not sure about the loading lines you get tho. But you can join the Facebook group and you can post your pics. Link in description
Thanks for the comment .. the nis is because you turned on image scaling in the nvidia panel and you checked the box for the nis indicator. Now to use it go to the resolution in the nvidia panel and then you can choose a resolution in the scaling section . That's lower and the nis will turn green when activated
So why in this video do you tell us to set the refresh rate (within “change resolution”) to setting closest to fps in sim, bit in another video I just watched an hour ago you specifically said to verify both native resolution AND native refresh rate (doing so by clicking native resolution twice to display native refresh)? Just want a clarification before I begin making all of the changes you have recommended.
I love your videos but I can only accomplish about 30-50% of what you recommended. I do not have server manager on win 11 so I can’t run the ISLC.exe, also I don’t have enough space on my C drive to set performance. How much will this effect what we are trying to do?
Hi, a great video and I did set most of your settings - works great. I fly exclusively in VR and yesterday, connecting to VATSIM and landing at KSFO with a few aircrafts on the ground, everything became choppy. What would you recommend as the best setting to scale back to improve performance in busy airports (and those that might have other aircrafts injected with VATSIM)?
1st off thanks for the comment now to better help you with that question On your FPS counter when it started becoming choppy for you what did you notice was causing the limitation at the top of the counter.
@@2020fsers Thanks for the quick reply! I am in VR so it's hard to notice which is the culprit (the Dev mode FPS dock doesn't really showing up). I am using a high end system (i9-12900k, 64Gb, RTX3090).. I did install the intelligent standby list cleaner, changed registry, followed your cfg files setup and of course the in-sim settings.. Any tips to try (maybe one that will be relevant for a GPU load reduction and one that will be relevant for CPU load reduction?)
Ok are you using the openxr toolkit you can use the fps counter in there in advanced and it will tell you either the cpu or gpu latency in ms. The toolkit is also very good at adding clarity to the sim even if you don't use the scaling . The setting to try and change is in the nvidia panel change the" ultra" low latency setting to off. And in the sim turn the reflex latency to off in pc and it should apply that in vr as well and try again.
@@2020fsers OK, I used OpenXR and the fps counter there. First, I can see that the lowest performance (25-30fps) is on the ground, I was at KSFO with a couple of VATSIM planes. Limiting factor is CPU (using i9 12700k), app CPU was at 27-29ms and rdr CPU was at 15-18ms. app GPU was steady at 0ms. I have 64Gb RAM so based on your commends, I've set VRAM to be half that size and VRAM was at 36-37% or so (about 8.5-8.7Gb). I also read in the OpenXR wiki that if GPU is not the limiting factor, OpenXR will not improve my performance. Any tips?
I do not understand how you don't have more subscribers. Most thought out and informative video I have found for settings in MSFS. Thank you for taking the time and updating us regularly. I struggle to find up to date graphics tutorial vids so thank you again!

Thanks, Bud ! Keep up the great work!
Thank you 😊
With your presentation skills you could easily persuade me to solder wires straight onto my processor
Thank you lol 😆 I would never do that 😂 but thank you so much for the comment
Lol indeed. I recommend you put your pc underwater for 1 minute, then you will be good to go.. like new
I have actually seen pc run under water . I think jay2 cents youtube did it
I have changed quite a few settings, but haven't tried them out yet. Regardless of those results, here's a little token or two of appreciation for your efforts. Love and respect from Norway♥♥♥
Thanks so much my friend hope all goes well with the sim!
@@2020fsers My pleasure. Loading the sim with the changes as we speak. This was perfect timing, as I recently made a huge upgrade to my system. I was already very happy with it, so it will be interesting to see. Will let you know in a while for sure 😉 My current timer res also says 0,5 now 🙂
Ok great 👌 please let me know how it goes 👍
@@2020fsers First off, I only fly in VR, using the HP Reverb G2
I have tested for a good hour now, and the sim has never looked better🙂 Still I have the occasional microstutter, but they are few and far between.
Thanks so much for the write up on your findings and the tips you gave .. happy flying 😀
I am deeply impressed by your educational way of explaining what all the settings do in a game...
Thank you so much I'm happy you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the comment 👍
Your deserve a medal! Solved all my stutter issues, my sim has never run smoother in VR!
Thanks very much . May I ask what vr set do you have ? I am currently making my vr guide that should be out soon for the g2 and pimax.
By supersampling I mean checking custom resolution and upscaling to something like 3900x3200 in OpenXR toolkit
It’s not as clear as taa but all
In all it is close and it gives me much higher fps (about 10fps more) I really don’t like vr below 40fps and I’d rather loose a bit of clarity….for the extra smoothness.
:)))) and I'm running a fairly older system with a i7-7700K with nvidia RTX2070 Super with 64gb ram
Thank you for doing what you do...YOUR AWESOME!
Thanks so much I'm really happy this helped you tweak your system we all know msfs is a tweakers paradise lol.

Just like to tell u how much I appreciate this vid I was having troubles and I have changed everything and it’s much better keep doing what ur doing respect my bro
Thanks so much 🙏
Very informative and helpful.
Awesome 👌 thank you for posting your results and your specs. Happy it helped 😀
Thankyou !!!!
Wow thanks so much gino I really appreciate that. I hope this video helps you !!
Thanks for the comment yes that is what I forgot to tell people to delete there rolling cache darn
Thanks for the comment happy flying 😀
Ted
Thanks Ted for the awesome write-up . Glad it helped you 😀
Thank you! followed the steps in your vid, still with Nvida Experience installed and VR is finally playable and smooth for me!!!! HUGE fps increase. I just managed to land a helicopter in Melbourne on the Police tower pad in the wind. Impossible without this performance increase. SUBSCRIBED. Ryzen 7, 2080 Super, 32gb, Quest 2 tethered

@@2020fsers thanks. Do you know of any half decent , low overhead, vid capture software that records in normal single view?
I use obs other than that im not sure .
@@2020fsers thanks for the response, I will give it a go.
Why do we need to do this all the time? BECAUSE Asobo and Microsoft don't know what they are doing, update to update. Always messing things up.
Yep you got it right . All the beta testing and can't get it correct on the release idk.
Thank you!
Hey thanks so much for posting your results I'm so happy this helped you 😀 thanks for the awesome comment my friend and happy flying

hey thanks for the comment glad you got it working thanks for the followup

Laz77

Yeah you should be ok on 20 after you change it see how windows operates if you are ok then try the sim if you need to revert only tick the normal startup box in the msconfig and apply . Like I described in the video
@@2020fsers cool ill try it out
Ok let me know how it goes
A note about the refresh rate - you can select it to 120Hz but set the application to run in half refresh rate and that will force it to run in 60Hz mode /60FPS max on a 120Hz monitor. It makes it a little smoother and you get the benefit of the higher refresh resolution
Great tip 👍 I always say you really need to use settings that work for you on your system. I stated using the 120mhz to see if there is a difference it's tough lol but the 1 thing that is a downside on my system is the nvidia color bits I can only use 8bit and not 12 in the color section .

Gpu prices need to drop that's for sure .
Hi I was looking for latest graphics settings that time you always post those for us . Thank you sir

Thanks very much for the compliment 😀
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! Now i'm getting a way better sim than ever !
That's awesome 👌 thanks for the comment 👍 😀
Do you recommend having your monitor refresh rate set to match the average fps you get in game?
It's always been good practice but some motiors and systems like high refresh rate it would be something you should test ok your system to get a definitive answer .
thank you so much for al your help to us you make flying fun. I can only get live weather , the time and weather are all grayed out ,I tried every thing it stays gray out,is their some setting that need to be turn off or on ?
Thanks for the comment .. go into your data menu and make sure data is on.
@@2020fsers in the data section all is turn on except multiplayer data lim is 5 gig rolling cache is off I click on the cloud icon and everything is grayed but live weather
Try to sign out. Top right and disconnect from the server and then reconnect .
1. Is it safe to change this all settings?
2. Has it influence to my graphic settings or just fps?
I recommend to try each setting 9n it's own before you change a bunch of things . This will help you figure out what works well on your system.
Can you point me to your video where you explain the FPS counter and adjusting your settings so that the gpu and cpu latency are close?
Yes sure thing here ya go . And thanks for watching

I use your setings, and now i play 56 FPS. Nice work
That's awesome thanks for the comment 👍
Such an amazingly clear and helpful video. Very well done, thank you.
Your welcome thanks for the comment
Ram memory speed will help cpu bottleneck but only to a point. If you cam get the ram speed up your cpu limit should lower a bit.
Thanks a lot. My sim has never ben better. Smooth and beautiful.
That's fantastic 😀 I'm so happy it helped you .
Fxaa in the nvidia panel makensure it's off . And mfaa . Have Seen rdr thread issues
Two things I didn't follow on this video as I am setting up my new system and want to get your thoughts about it... if you have any at this point in time. For me it'll be a wait and see because frankly, I just got an enormous boost in stutter-free fps regardless. 🤤
Finally replaced my 8700K with a 7950X3D.
U got a whole net Mobo just for that AM5?
@@VeniVidiAjax assuming you typo’d and net=new.

Love these vids. Helps alot❤❤
Thanks for the comment 😀 I'm glad they help you
Wow, I always like your excellent videos on MSFS performance - so much to learn.
Thanks
Yes at this time I am on the newest studio driver and is working well .

Hello! First of all thx a lot for your video! Really helpful but on my side i still fighting with stutters all the way. Thx in advance
Have you deleted the shader cache? I did a video on that not to long ago. That may help you. Thanks for the comment

Few questions about Islc program: 1) Is it supposed to be on when flying in MSFS2020? 2) Does it turn on automatically? Do I need to purge memory? 🤔
Your welcome glad to help.
I have a 4090 and HAGS must be on for frame generation feature to work.
Thanks for the info on that. I wish I had a 4090 to test on .
Thanks for the info 👍
Thanks for the video ever since the update when in vr as soon as I am in my plane the camera toolbar pops up in front of my face everytime not sure how to stop it from doing that
Thanks for the comment .. I think you can change that in the assistance menus
@@2020fsers thanks I'll look and see
Do you have the DLSS frame generation option ON? I have 4090 nvidia GPU but the option is grey and off. Any idea to activate this option?
Hey thanks for the comment to activate frame gen you need to turn on your hardware accelerated gpu scheduling on your pc then it should be able to be selected in the sim.
Love the video, these changes have made significant improvements to the fps of the game, but do you have any recommendations for someone with an AMD GPU? Card settings, etc.
Thanks for the comment . Unfortunately I don't have any amd stuff so I wouldn't be the person to give info on that topic I'm sorry .
For the CFG file, what do the Sharpen and Fringe functions do, and why do we want those off?
Hello sorry I should have explained a little more on those .. on sharpen it removes some over sharpening that msfs adds in this can be personal preference with it on can cause an over sharpening and appear to have aliasing on the edges of things. Frings removes a line that can be seen around objects it has also been noted to remove a Aberration of green and red colors in some situations like inside hangers and things.
I also have 32GB ram yet when I set the virtual page limits per the video I receive a message that there is not enough memory and to make more space available. What gives with that and what limits should I set
Ok so that is probable because your hard drive or ssd doesn't have enough space .

Also did you do any overclocking on the gpu or cpu during the changes?
Thank you I've had shutters on YMML after doing your ajustments not so bad using i9 rtx4070ti 32gb ram still only getting 29 fms?
Ok it's probably a setting in the nvidia panel . Like I stated at the very beginning of the video if you have issues restore the settings and only change a couple at a time until you find what is causing you issues.
this is a very informative video thanks, I am still not flying enough but slowly getting the sim how I want it, I do have a question if you can help but I am slowly getting the lag and freezing sorted but for some reason I can't get the ATC to play ball, when I start a flight the ATC just starts talking and answering itself without my input....any ideas?
@@2020fsers Thank you, I post it
Another terrific, detailed video. I now have a blue ‘NIS’ on top left corner of my screen?
Thanks for the comment .. the nis is because you turned on image scaling in the nvidia panel and you checked the box for the nis indicator. Now to use it go to the resolution in the nvidia panel and then you can choose a resolution in the scaling section . That's lower and the nis will turn green when activated
@@2020fsers thanks, I’ll have a play around.
are you using the xr tool kit
Yes for vr
I really appreciate your videos they are very easy to follow which is great for me because I am a computer illiterate
Your welcome I'm glad they help you ☺️ thanks for the comment
Thanks for the comment. I would set the virtual memory to what you can in your case . I believe that's what you are talking about .
Any tips?
