This was very helpful! My personnel favorite was Color Profile 2, and I just added Sharpen+ with the Tint intensity at 20 and the tint at 20 aswell and I think it makes it even better! In my opinion, Profile 1 is just a bit too bright for me
I Have AMD Chip and not NVIDIA, but in-spite of that, the Changes which you Recommended Inside the MSFS Settings, made a Huge Difference on My Two Year Old Mid Range Allienware Desktop!! What a Hugh Change when I fly & Many Many thanks !!!

As you already said it depends on the monitor settings u use. I tried your settings but reverted back to using no profile as it turned out i had my colour settings pretty dialed in within my monitor itself. Just wanted to see if i could get the little extra but turned out i was already there :) but thank you for putting these vids out as they will help others a lot
for anyone new here, if when you click alt-f3 and it only come up with image sharpening, go to your nvidea control panel, find manage 3d > and then find power management and turn it to maximum. then restart your pc, it should work!
Thanks for another great video tutorial! 😃 I'm the one that made that "clever" comment about the UserCfg.opt file! 😅 In that file you can do a bunch of stuff, also break alot of stuff, so a backup of that file is highly recomended. One thing i like to do, is in the {Shadows} section....set the MaxSliceCount to 4 and Size from the default 1536 to ie 2048 or 4096, then you won't have those "jagged" flickering shadows in the cockpit! 🙂

It might seem strange, but setting your Nvidia Control Panel / Power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance" can REDUCE your framerate and introduce stuttering. This can happen when thermal throttling kicks in. It's best to actually test changes to the power management setting, especially if you're overclocking your GPU. Personally, I've found that "Optimum power" gives me the best result, but the best setting depends on your graphics card and case cooling. If you have a water-cooled graphics card, use the max performance setting, otherwise you should try a different setting, especially if you experience stuttering in games.

Hey there! Great Video! Really helped reshape my sim- just a little bit of general feedback from the user.cg. If anyone wanted to change their settings again and had the user.cg set to read only, this would not be possible and the settings wouldn't get changed/ Just wanted to put it out there if anyone had experienced the same issue as me, so if you prefer to leave the User.cfg file as it is with read only just remember to change it from read only before you change setttings! 11:03 this how my sim will never look like. Even with all ur settings😅 I run a 3060ti and a ryzen 5 5600x on 2k resolution. But my sim is looking so washed and blurred. Ur looks so clean and detailed

Funny, I think your third is the most realistic by far. Colors in RL do pop out a lot rather than being washed out. Ofc it depends on the time and location I guess. In Denmark sunsets are pretty much your profile 3 style of color.
This is cool - I was hoping the crashes would have subsided - but this still gives me fits... have dig a little deeper maybe. I also note that the MAPS enhancer App has some simple color and contrast changes you can make . FYI Regards

A word of advice.. DO NOT INSTALL Nvidia Experience HUGE FPS DROP, another youtuber on his channel showed the difference with having it and not, best thing i did was uninstalled it and i gained BIG FPS
Nvidia Experience slows down your game bad and on top of it you lose so much FPS I watched this other youtuber and I have to say he went through so much and covered everything he even went further in deep and I gained so much more, best thing is to remove it you don't need it

All respect to youtuber Fly by simulation he's correct but the thing is, since so many updates and tinkering with MSFS alot of the things that use to make things work better has actually made things worse so it's safe to say at one time leaving Game mode off was good now it's actually better to leave it on because of the updates MS has done for the Game mode, what I realized is the less running in the background the better your MSFS will run, especially if your running a mid range PC.

With a powerful PC (OC 13900K and 4090) you get NEGLIGIBLE losses with GeForce Experience even when recording 4K as it uses the 4090 hardware encoder. Basically, if you have enough cores and use DX12 it works extremely well even at 4K Full Ultra TAA with Frame Generation.

Hey Carlos, thanks for watching. It's mentioned towards the time when I start talking about Geforce Experience near the middle of the video. The fix is to simply turn off image scaling in Geforce experience settings as it might have turned on automatically when you turned it on the Nvidia CP. Cheers!
Warning! Setting a file to read only as you suggest is fine, provided no-one (i.e., Asobo/Microsoft) needs to revise it for whatever reason. If it is read only, then there is the potential for an update to crash, or for the sim to behave erratically, based on the nature of the "official" update, or, as you said, the update may just overwrite your mod... Sure, it's read/write, so it's meant to be changeable, but I'd reckon that it needs to be R/W for a purpose, and your tip rather runs a coach and four through that situation. Indeed, the BEST result for anyone who follows this suggestion might just be that the installer is able to ignore the status, and just overwrite it anyway. So, IMO, it would be best if users who want to apply this mod actually create an aide de memoir somewhere to check this setting after each update of the sim, rather than change the file's read/write status, which will either be ineffective, or possibly destructive. Other than that, I like your work. Keep it up.

You mentioned that each monitor is different, but even the same monitor can have multiple settings (Graphics, Movies, Standard, etc.) What do you have your physical monitor set to?

When I open the filters menu, only "sharpening" appears and I can't even adjust it. There's no plus sign to add filters. I have an RTX 2070s and the latest driver. Experimental features are enabled. Any ideas?

From what I'm seeing online, people are saying you might need to reinstall your drivers but for me, it appeared right away, as MSFS has been an nvidia-supported game since the very beginning. Hi, I have revisited this with your settings video now I have a new PC. Excellent as always. Thanks. One question. When trying to amend the Usercfg.opt file, I use WordPad but the file when corrected saves as a WordPad document not an opt file. Any suggestions on how to save as opt file?
I tried the geforce filters out for the first time. Your recommendations are excellent! I use a 90% similar style #1 as you. I also have a Reverb G2 on order. Do you know if these settings work with VR too?

While I love this video and kudos to you for going the extra mile in making this sort of specific content, these settings seriously didn't work for me. Your 'best' one looks like some sort of weird modern art piece on my monitor with some sort of instagram filter. The other two are barely acceptable but still nothing on the original game settings. I wonder if Vancouver being in spring rather than Autumn is the reason? Either way, great video even if the end result on my end didn't match your great picture quality. I've got the tools now to play around with things on my own. Thanks!
Another awesome tutorial video, thanks! But for some reason in MSFS I loaded up and clicked "ALT-F3" for some reason the game crashed immediately to desktop.
What's annoying is that there is no way to save the settings properly. After a driver update it's all gone and you have to do a new set up. I wrote to Nvidia support about that. They confirmed it's not realized at the moment.
Thanks so much. I used the suggestions and graphics settings in this and the previous video (tweaked for my setup - six fan custom built desktop with OC and personal tastes). Most everything is as I want it, just a few more adjustments and all should be excellent. I do have a quick off-topic question for you, however. At the 7 minute mark in this video there is an area at the bottom and slightly left side of the screen that is densely populated with trees. That same area has very sparse coverage of trees in my sim. Any suggestions as to the reason for that? Thanks again.

I've not seen a difference between geforce experience being installed or not--then again, I have overlay turned off all the time. I mostly just have it as a convenient way of getting the latest driver. Last time I checked was a few months ago.
People were saying, that GeForce Experience overlay enabled is stealing smoothness and FPS in a sim. So I had disabled it from a quite long time. Is something changed from, let's say, World Update 6 that it hasn't got a negative influence on the sim performance anymore?

I used it myself, when someday I had found that it could have an impact on our heavy CPU and GPU loaded games and sims, so I stopped used it some time ago. I don't know, maybe after graphic or sim updates this problem was/is solved. If so, it will be a wonderful info for us all, but if you don't mind to check it for us on your machine 🙂
Hmm, I respectfully disagree. The dawn and dusk times in sim, as well as times when there is tons of cloud cover looks a little unrealistic to me. Regardless however, the tutorial does show 3 seperate nvidia filters for you to play around with, as they all allow you to achieve different looks for your sim. That's for the great video. Can anyone give me a hint, why the nvidia colour profiles don't have any visual effect when looking through the Reverb glasses? On the monitor I see the changes but not through the VR lenses.

Hey there! Great Video! Really helped reshape my sim- just a little bit of general feedback from the user.cg. If anyone wanted to change their settings again and had the user.cg set to read only, this would not be possible and the settings wouldn't get changed/ Just wanted to put it out there if anyone had experienced the same issue as me, so if you prefer to leave the User.cfg file as it is with read only just remember to change it from read only before you change setttings! Funny, I think your third is the most realistic by far. Colors in RL do pop out a lot rather than being washed out. Ofc it depends on the time and location I guess.
In Denmark sunsets are pretty much your profile 3 style of color.
This is cool - I was hoping the crashes would have subsided - but this still gives me fits... have dig a little deeper maybe. I also note that the MAPS enhancer App has some simple color and contrast changes you can make . FYI

A word of advice.. DO NOT INSTALL Nvidia Experience HUGE FPS DROP, another youtuber on his channel showed the difference with having it and not, best thing i did was uninstalled it and i gained BIG FPS

Nvidia Experience slows down your game bad and on top of it you lose so much FPS I watched this other youtuber and I have to say he went through so much and covered everything he even went further in deep and I gained so much more, best thing is to remove it you don't need it

All respect to youtuber Fly by simulation he's correct but the thing is, since so many updates and tinkering with MSFS alot of the things that use to make things work better has actually made things worse so it's safe to say at one time leaving Game mode off was good now it's actually better to leave it on because of the updates MS has done for the Game mode, what I realized is the less running in the background the better your MSFS will run, especially if your running a mid range PC.

With a powerful PC (OC 13900K and 4090) you get NEGLIGIBLE losses with GeForce Experience even when recording 4K as it uses the 4090 hardware encoder. Basically, if you have enough cores and use DX12 it works extremely well even at 4K Full Ultra TAA with Frame Generation.

Hey Carlos, thanks for watching. It's mentioned towards the time when I start talking about Geforce Experience near the middle of the video. The fix is to simply turn off image scaling in Geforce experience settings as it might have turned on automatically when you turned it on the Nvidia CP. Cheers!
Warning! Setting a file to read only as you suggest is fine, provided no-one (i.e., Asobo/Microsoft) needs to revise it for whatever reason. If it is read only, then there is the potential for an update to crash, or for the sim to behave erratically, based on the nature of the "official" update, or, as you said, the update may just overwrite your mod...
Sure, it's read/write, so it's meant to be changeable, but I'd reckon that it needs to be R/W for a purpose, and your tip rather runs a coach and four through that situation. Indeed, the BEST result for anyone who follows this suggestion might just be that the installer is able to ignore the status, and just overwrite it anyway.
So, IMO, it would be best if users who want to apply this mod actually create an aide de memoir somewhere to check this setting after each update of the sim, rather than change the file's read/write status, which will either be ineffective, or possibly destructive.
Other than that, I like your work. Keep it up.
I'm going to test your improvements in old Nvidia GTX 1070ti, I'll let you know if work out.

You mentioned that each monitor is different, but even the same monitor can have multiple settings (Graphics, Movies, Standard, etc.) What do you have your physical monitor set to?

When I open the filters menu, only "sharpening" appears and I can't even adjust it. There's no plus sign to add filters. I have an RTX 2070s and the latest driver. Experimental features are enabled. Any ideas?
Hmm, that's weird Matt. It should appear and I'm not sure it isn't appearing on your end. From what I'm seeing online, people are saying you might need to reinstall your drivers but for me, it appeared right away, as MSFS has been an nvidia-supported game since the very beginning. Hi, I have revisited this with your settings video now I have a new PC. Excellent as always. Thanks. One question. When trying to amend the Usercfg.opt file, I use WordPad but the file when corrected saves as a WordPad document not an opt file. Any suggestions on how to save as opt file?

While I love this video and kudos to you for going the extra mile in making this sort of specific content, these settings seriously didn't work for me. Your 'best' one looks like some sort of weird modern art piece on my monitor with some sort of instagram filter. The other two are barely acceptable but still nothing on the original game settings. I wonder if Vancouver being in spring rather than Autumn is the reason?

What's annoying is that there is no way to save the settings properly. After a driver update it's all gone and you have to do a new set up.
I wrote to Nvidia support about that. They confirmed it's not realized at the moment.
Thanks so much. I used the suggestions and graphics settings in this and the previous video (tweaked for my setup - six fan custom built desktop with OC and personal tastes). Most everything is as I want it, just a few more adjustments and all should be excellent. I do have a quick off-topic question for you, however. At the 7 minute mark in this video there is an area at the bottom and slightly left side of the screen that is densely populated with trees. That same area has very sparse coverage of trees in my sim. Any suggestions as to the reason for that? Thanks again.

Hmm, I think the weather is set to scattered clouds with the bottom-most cloud layer raised a little. The time of day is just afternoon (around 12:00pm I believe) ;)

I think that's the case when you're recording but if you're not recording your frames should be normal
I've not seen a difference between geforce experience being installed or not--then again, I have overlay turned off all the time. I mostly just have it as a convenient way of getting the latest driver. Last time I checked was a few months ago.

@@FlyBySimulations I think that I could say that I am an old subscriber ;-) I hope you don't mind my concerns about GeForce Experience. I used it myself, when someday I had found that it could have an impact on our heavy CPU and GPU loaded games and sims, so I stopped used it some time ago. I don't know, maybe after graphic or sim updates this problem was/is solved. If so, it will be a wonderful info for us all, but if you don't mind to check it for us on your machine 🙂
i turned it off, fps drops way too much for me. Rather i just play with my tvs settings which dont affect fps.

Hmm, I respectfully disagree. The dawn and dusk times in sim, as well as times when there is tons of cloud cover looks a little unrealistic to me. Regardless however, the tutorial does show 3 seperate nvidia filters for you to play around with, as they all allow you to achieve different looks for your sim. That's for the great video. Can anyone give me a hint, why the nvidia colour profiles don't have any visual effect when looking through the Reverb glasses? On the monitor I see the changes but not through the VR lenses.
If you have to turn down the color temp that far your monitor is not calibrated properly.
I wonder if these tweaks are still up to date.
