**Update Oct 2024** Heya folks - there has been a change to the location of the cache folder. You will now find it here: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache
Another one..."One (settings) fits all?" Despite i agree with most of your recommendations - they are for a high end system like yours. Your system is an edge case most people dont have. Making these kinds of tutorials more helpful for the majority that are hard limited by either CPU/GPU/RAM would mean to explain the system dynamics (how components depend on each other) and then have at least 2 different scenarios. And please explain more why are you changing a specific setting, i know its hard with lacking of proper settings documentation by Microsobo. Very happy with your recommendation to put "Max power" into the FlightSim only applied settings. Thank you!
I was having awful micro stutters when landing and after watching this video and applying the settings they are all gone. Thanks for putting this video up!

I just upgraded to the 7950X3D and I have the RTX 4080. After playing a while it felt like something was just not right. Felt like the performace was not where it should be. Thanks to your tips my flights are flawless now. Smooth as butter! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing , my 4090 was a big change from my 2070super however when I used your settings then my 4090 became super smooth. A really big thank you !
The "Disk Clean-up" option from the start menu is also available on Windows 11 now as well, so that is probably the quickest / safest way to do it. Just select C drive, then let it scan for system files also to clean up. The advantage is it cleans a lot more than just the shader files in one go. It deletes a lot of useless junk. Thanks TTM for this video. I have rolling cache off, but I never knew about deleting it once in a while. Great stuff as usual!
I just subscribed. BTW - I saw another video where a guy said to set static aircraft on the ground to zero. True, you don't see anymore static aircraft (except custom scenery), but WOW! I can finally land my plane with ZERO stutters!
twotonemurphy, thank you very much for your assistance. I was very disappointed with my very expensive 4090 still stuttering like the AMD 6950 well, not quite as much but still. Now, I'll see how I go. Again, thanks for taking the time and sharing your knowledge and experience.
This helped a ton! Much smoother VR experience for me. I also enabled Resizable BAR for my 4090 and enabled it for MSFS using the Nvidia profile inspector. I'm not sure if that did much, but I'm definitely getting better performance. Thanks.
Thanks for the video TT but, as several others have posted, there is no DXCache folder in my NVIDIA folder. But when I search the C: drive there are lots of NVIDIA folders containing folders titled DXCache in various Appdata\local\packages subfolders but I can't sort the wood from the trees.

Thanks for the tip TwoTone. My sim is a lot faster but I noticed that now when I pan round the cockpit the window posts are jagged almost like the anti aliasing isn’t working properly. Do you have any advice to fix that.
i can agree with all you say! i think i can add memory speed may be a issue as well i have the 4090 and amd 5800x3d and still gets shutters so im going to test putting 64 gigs 3600 instead of the OC 32gig 2800mhz running at 3200mhz should be here tomorrow or the next day my only other option is replace the motherboard with ddr5 its always a micro shudder or a outright CTD no error. Thank you so f'ng much mate! My sim was getting unflyable on an RTX3080ti! Not sure which step fixed it but it's now as smooth as the proverbial babies b....
Thanks! Deleted the chashfiles and the stutters are gone! Also changed the video settings, but now instrumentes in cockpit are little out of focus. Do you have any advice what to change?
The biggest help for fps seems to be disabling the rolling cache. Which is weird, logically it would be faster do load something from your hard drive than downloading from the net..
Good stuff - I followed this for X-Plane 11 and it gave me 8 fps more which makes all the difference - not checked for stutters yet as I only seem to get a small amount on approach - is there a fix specifically for X- Plane. Thanks for this.
I have a HPG AIRBUS H145 with the Action pack rescue missions and to finish my local (East Anglia Air ambulance+ YOAA HEMS Yorkshire Air Ambulance liveries) it is BEAUTIFUL 😍 🤩 👌 I love it so much.. I have tried ALL setting in game a d nothing makes a difference (even at 1080p potato 🥔 mode lol... so I may aswell run it on ultra... it makes no difference lol What I would really like is to use my Oculus Rift S but that is like climbing into that paint mixing shaker machine first person mode as the bloody paint tin lmfao I have followed quite a few videos like this. Been all through Nvidia panel but you do have a slightly different approach... my rig is an acer predator with i7 10700/ RTX3070F.E/ 16GB DDR4 3200MH and a reasonable SSD I should be getting atleast 60fps surely I will edit this after trying your approach 👍
Great video! What would you recommend for the RTX 3060 12GB VRAM version, 32 GB RAM and the Ryzen 5600x? Thanks! Mine keeps stuttering before and after with your tweaks. It says "Limited by Main Thread".
Just in case it helps.. I have very similar specs, same gfx card (3060 12gb) and same ram, but a 3700x CPU. Turning off photogrammetry in game made a huge difference for me, very few stutters now. I can actually fly into and out of KSEA now. That area used to be terrible. Might be worth a try with photogrammetry off. I have all forms of AI traffic off as well, this includes road vehicles, ships and aircraft.
@@robman501a it is a possibility I guess. I get around 900Mbps down and 450Mbps up, but I do live in New Zealand, so if the server is far away from me (likely! lol) that could be an issue in my case..
Does take time to get it perfect, and even so, it also depends on what aircraft type you flying and the airport you are at. Not all airports are not optimized so that doesn't help and also I find that the Fenix lags for me while flying at night. I use 3090 and at times DX12 can give errors DX11 is the better option, But who does use DX12 or DX11 another thing is that I do not run mSFS full screen, I use t in a very small border window. Full screen or not, what does that give to people for performance?
Mr. Two Tone a nice cold pint of Magners on me!! Thanks for this. And one for Mr. Q8 but if he doesn't drink as per religion then you can have 2 on me.🤘🍻
What about the DLDSR 2.25 for my resolution of 3840X2160 on my 55" OLED TV which I could'nt find any more on the RTX video card ? I'll appreciated your comments !
I see you are running DLSS, When I turn that on with a 3090 I think it looks pants to be honest. Any thoughts on DLSS settings wise would be handy. Thanks for the video
Being the only one using a 230 Mb feed, I turned off rolling cache and I have seen no more "flying toward" FPS dips to flip card speeds. The 360 cache in the main page seems to be plenty. But if you have a video to correct the "latent layering problem where it looks like the ground is getting spray tanning as I come in low and slow, please share the info. In a recent update, nvidia changed the location. To get the DXcache, go to app data, local low (not local), nvidia, per division driver and DX cache will be there
Nvidia have since made some changes to their install. Start with the Nvidia control panel, manage 3D settings, Global. Turn off Shader Cache. Restart pc. Then navigate to App Data folder and go to either LocalLow or Roaming(away from my pc right now so check both locations) Inside the Nvidia folder you will see current version. Open this folder and it should show all the cache files. Delete them. Go back into Nvidia control panel and turn back on shader cache - that’s it
