Sometimes the group musicians are overshadowed by Debbie's personality, talent, and charisma, but they are a great bunch of musicmen! Thanks for the reaction!
As a teenage boy, with my hormones popping, she made a huge impression on me. I had a poster of her on my wall, and once went to a Blondie concert. The place was packed. Only just turned eighteen, I had spent all day in the pub with my mates and got dead drunk before we went into the club. All that booze, and being crushed in the crowd, took its toll and I passed out. I came too as I was being carried out over the heads of everyone. I looked over at Blondie on the stage, and she blew me a kiss. Well, it could have been to me, or anyone else in the crowd. But I swear to god, she looked straight at me. I will never forget that look in her eyes. That's pretty much the most rock and roll thing I have ever done.......lol! Fantastic memories.
Blondie deep dive will be a lot of fun for you. Blondie was MASSIVE in the late 70's-early 80's.... Call Me, Tide is High, One Way or Another, Rapture... SO MANY.
She's iiconic! New wave pop punk eat your heart out to the queen. It is comforting to know she was 29 when the band started. There's hope for us in our 30s 😂😂😂
Greatest female singer of all time . No arguments please . i grew up listening to her and the band . I'm 56 now and she still does it for me . i'd give anything to be in her company .
You are spot on , that is exactly what they did. They mixed punk with disco…. I’m so impressed by you. Blondie actually started out as a punk band.👍👍 keep it up 😁
There is a picture of her in the thumbnails at the end of the video. But I'd say she's a good-looking-70, but not "amazing". Never the less... if any of us age like that, we definitely can't complain. I've seen people looking older at 60.
@@liquidminds Take a look at her on The One Show Blondie singing Long Time. At the age of 73 she looks amazing for her age. She will be 76 on the 1st July 2021.
Debbie Harry of Blondie was an amazing singer...so much range and control. And so so many FUNKY chart topping hit songs and albums. I love and listen to blondie to this day. Never without it in my car.
Blondie is very highly regarded. Debbie Harry, the lead singer, was innovative and paved the way for a lot that came after her. I'd, for sure, recommend you check out some of their other stuff.

Yes - it's punk and disco. Exactly. Long-time Blondie lover here. I love the group, but I love Debbie Harry. She has an amazing voice - she's the real deal. A girl from New Jersey made good for herself.
The goddess herself. .Debbie harry .timeless ....iconic ..no kidding the most beautiful woman I ever saw. And soooo cool ...oh and the music was OK too .lol
I'm a couple of years older than Debbie Harry and I remember this well because my teenage son kept telling me that and how much better she looked than me. But then , she didn't have three teenagers to deal with. :) Fabulous singer, fabulous song. Maybe it was about her own heart but maybe not. Singers don't always sing about their own experiences.
"seemed like the real thing / but I was so blind / I'm the one you're using / please don't push me aside." yep. Your take on it is pretty much bang on the money. Not taking it all too serious though - it's such a great song.
I notice that the Americans get a different version to the rest of us....at the end, they get "Once I had a love and it was a gas, soon turned out had a heart of glass" whilst we get "Once I had a love and it was a gasm soon turned out to be a pain in the ass". lol
I’ve always just danced to the melody ‘cause its so upbeat and catchy.. up until you describing the lyrics and realizing that its a song, that comes from heartbreak 🥺 And immediately moments from my heartbreaks came flooding in 😩 In all seriousness that was an awesome reaction to Heart of glass ❤️
Debbie Harry the lead singer sang that the guy who broke her heart was the one who had a heart of glass. React to their songs Atomic, Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, Call Me and The Tide Is High if haven't already please.
5:05 Boom! Punk meats Disco. Nail, Head etc. You can hear Blondie and just enjoy their musical proficience. Or you can listen to them and realize how avant-garde they were. Interesting fact, Debbie Harry was adopted and never found out who her birth mother was...it was reported once that she thought she was Marilyn Monroe's daughter but in fact, she never said that. She worked at the PlayBoy Club as a PlayBoy bunny waitress for awhile! She was and still is beautiful...great band, please review more Blondie.

This song saved a whole generation. It was the only song that could unite the disco kids (mostly girls) and the punk/new wave rock kids (mostly boys). I think this was a song that was the start of many families.
Great reaction thanks! Blondie were at their height when I was about 10 or 11 - 49 now gulp! Debbie Harry is a queen and I've always been in love with her looks, voice and just her kickass attitude. She's still doing it in her 70s!!
Just love how the younger generation can recognise and appreciate - and respect - the 'pop' music of my youth some 35 years ago (or more)! BTW, it is not you who was shocked by her vocals; the whole band and the producer were also stunned. She had never sung it like that before (in the 'little girl's voice)!
Blondie was a band that experimented in so many music genres like disco, new wave, reggae and rap not to mention starting out as a punk rock band that they really didn't do that many pop songs of their own but did do covers of pop songs earlier on in their career.
Debbie Harry was high as a kite back in the day. So many videos where her face would twitch and very glassy eyes. I remember her on The Muppet Show...thought she would fall over. HOWEVER!!!!!! I am not hating on her! I love her! Back then lots of drugs went around. She was the first to do so many things that paved the way for female artists. She is a brilliant artist! Also an actress and a very intelligent woman. I love her music. She is a Goddess!!!!!

Yeah, she was like the ultimate poster girl for the scene. And that was obvious to me even at the age of 6! Like the way the band are basically sending up the whole disco vibe in the video.
I was a teenage boy when Debbie Harry dominated the UK charts.... no one has affected me that way since, (Suzie Quatro got close). Try "Sunday Girl" - cold as ice cream but still as sweet.
