Volume eating helped me a lot with losing weight (I was mind-blown when I found out about cauliflower rice 🤯), but I agree that you shouldn't neglect certain nutrient-dense foods just because they have more calories. So while I do go for low calorie options, I still eat nuts every day and add olive oil to my meals.
Also love when they click bait with losing high amounts of fat in a matter of hours when it's mainly just water weight or bloating that's gone. 🙃

There isn't a one size fits all approach, and I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who has never "had" to lose fat for health reasons, BUT I find a habits-focused approach to any health change is much more effective and sustainable. Instead of looking in the mirror or hopping on the scale to monitor my progress, I focus on monitoring my habits (nutrition, daily movement, exercise, positive self talk) and the results come as a symptom of those habits. I think when we are too focused on aesthetic results we inevitably fall off the wagon and work against ourselves in a way.

And since I honestly don't have any academic education in nutrition I was believing this logic that seemed intuitive but was far from scientific.

That olive oil morning hack probably “works” for her because she’s constipated, maybe from volume eating too much fiber. But much like the juice cleanse, it’s only removing water weight by retaining then releasing it through the colon. My dad is a doctor and uses this tbsp olive oil in the morning hack because he’s chronically constipated (likely because he eats little to no fiber in a day 🙄) and it helps him get unconstipated without having to use a laxative

I hope your followers will read this if they are thinking about being vegan (I didn't lose much weight but that's b/c of too much sugar & processed foods I think). Can we address the fact that a lot of people don’t actually need to lose weight. Being light isn’t necessarily healthy and I know so many people that are already slim wanting to lose the very normal within healthy range fat on their stomach. Many people could actually just benefit from health focused activities. But of course everyone had the right to do whatever we want to with our bodies. I’m just conscious there’s a huge amount of women that have been conditioned into thinking we constantly need to be shrinking our bodies.

oh my gosh I had this exact same thing, where some foods would just taste as if they were rotten! And it was almost all my fav foods (Nuts, nutbutters, popcorn, yoghurt, coffee, paprika...). Even water had a weird unbearable smell to it. I had this for over a freaking year, I really hope you will have a faster recovery. I remember the moment my almond butter tasted normally again I started bawling :D My tip is just to force yourself to eat as you did and while you eat try to recall how these things truly smell/taste. Unfortunately there is no quick solution. You have to be patient and train your senses. But tbh, now that I am like 95% recovered I smell and taste so much more intense than before (which is truly great!)

I’ve had this for only a short period of time, just after I regained my sense of smell and taste. Appetite was still down most of the time, many things tasted differently and I didn’t like the food I usually like (for me, the problem was mostly that I could taste everything salty much more intensely than other things, some things not at all, some more or less, so everything tasted just weird).
What kind of worked for me was preparing my meals differently - like using only a little bit or no salt at all, using more of flavors that I couldn’t taste so well but still tasted okay. Someone with normal sense of taste and smell would have probably not eaten more than one bite, but I kind of found out how to prepare meals in a way that tasted okay at the moment and I just cut out everything that made things taste weird or disgusting.
I know that’s not great advice and you probably figured that our by yourself, but that’s all I can offer. I hope everything will get back to normal for you soon.
Also, I heard that eating ginger could help with setting your sense of taste back to normal - I ate fresh ginger (about the amount of two or three teaspoons) every day and drank ginger tea, but I don’t know if it actually helped me regain my sense of taste. But might be worth trying.

Omg! In college, I read about the whole drink apple cigar vinegar to help lose weight! I was like ok! But I couldn’t stand the taste in water so I had this brilliant idea to do it as a shot. I immediately threw up. And now the smell of apple cider makes me nausea. I legitimately traumatized myself with apple cider vinegar and get triggered by the smell. Anyways, I had no common sense as a college student at that age hahahah.

Thank you for reminding me that weight loss is actually a slow and boring process -- so I should just eat a wide variety of foods in moderation and move daily and just put that on autopilot and leave it running in the background of my days. Slow and steady, no secrets, shortcuts, or hype.

One thing I’ve learned losing over 100 lbs in 1.5 years (60 in the first 4 months) is that we fluctuate water weight 2-5 lbs throughout the day. It’s crazy, I literally weigh myself before bed AND in the middle of the night and it be the same, but in the morning after I pee I’ll have gone down 2-3 lbs! Like how?!?!? It really is true you NEED SLEEP TO LOSE WEIGHT lol.

Lol, I'm just so damn happy that I found your channel by chance roughly 2, maybe 3 years ago and QUIT doing these crazy things which only ever amounted to temporary weight loss, sometimes extra $ in the grocery bill and definitely, frustration and honestly, depression. Your science and nutritional based information helped me achieve an approximate 60 pound weight loss, over the course of about 18 months, BUT, most importantly, MAINTAIN THE LOSS, without sacrificing the foods I enjoy. I don't exercise like crazy, no gym membership, but I do move my body more (simple stuff, no equipment needed, put that shopping cart back in the corral;-). Mostly I think the nutritional aspect, your HCC formula and the scientific information you provide, just makes sense. I'm nearly 60, I've drank far too much lemon water, varieties of vinegar, and juices, ...all the popular diets over the years, been there done that, none had results that lasted very long. I suppose maybe I stumbled into Intuative Eating, but it was never my goal. I just wanted to lose weight because of sudden scary health problems of friends and family members. I am so happy and fortunate that my online search found your channel, finding your channel, combined with the logical conclusion that "I didn't gain 20, 40 or 60 pounds in a week, therefore I won't lose that much in a week", helped me set realistic goals and I now eat more, feel SO much better, and actually eat and enjoy,, foods I used to "ban". So, all that being said, when I'm searching for nutritional recipes and the content provider comes out like a "Sham Wow" advertisement, I'm so moving on!!! Sorry, I know this is long winded but I have never been successful long term with weight loss and and most importantly, I don't believe I've ever been as healthy, well rested, and content with my body, my life, etc., as I am currently. I know this is a very long review but I am just so appreciate and happy that my life, health and well-being has improved as much as it has and for FREE!!!! I simply cannot express the impact your videos have had to help me to be overall healthier and happier. Whenever anyone asks about "what diet I'm on", I tell them to look you up. Thank you so VERY much for your amazing efforts!

Abbey do you have any tips for how to lose excess weight when you can't increase your activity levels?
I have ME so exercise causes illness flare ups. In the past 6-9 months idk when it began I've gained over a stone which is quite far outside of my body's natural fluctuations and my shape has changed which I've found quite jarring. I had an illness flare and was sleeping all day for a couple of weeks and lost a good amount of the weight (idk how much no scales in my house but my clothes fit better again) because I was sleeping through mealtimes, but now that I'm back to being able to function during the day and eating three meals a day I've gained it back. I don't know how to eat three meals a day (which I have an appetite for, I'm not over eating) while getting back to my normal weight range. Normal here being the normal since I got ill and became a lot more sedentary eight years ago, this is the first major shift since then.

Could you do a video on Reina Scully's video "I'm Fat in Japan"? She's so upset because she's pregnant with a miracle baby after being told she's infertile for 17 years and she's trying to eat healthy because the doctor's guilting her about her weight gain. She's also being culturally pressured not to eat cold foods and you'll have to pry that watermelon out of her hands. She's trying not to get stressed but it's super fascinating seeing the differences between how expecting moms should expect to be treated in different countries. She even got given a cute little charm for her purse as a "pregnant pass" to skip lines and sit in priority seating.

So i started intuitive eating. Ive found my mental health has already improved. My confusion is how does one lose weight and tone down (my personal goal) while not restricting myself when i eat?
Maybe my answer will come in the later parts of the intuitive eating book you recommended but im curious if anyone knows the answer
