Anyone who has compassion is good for mental health. Due to being a feeling person, it is going to be tough. But knowing you care is what helps people. Just hope more like you sign up.

i feel im too well for a ward, and too sick for society sometimes. when i'm not feeling well, people avoid me and that's not just paranoia. They change seats on the bus, some laugh at me, avoids eye contact. it gets very lonely then and maybe that's why some gets very close up to staff in the ward. to test how they'll react. Your way of reacting is very calming and respectful, and i think you gain a lot of trust by this.

Thank you for this video! I’m starting in inpatient psych in several days - and this is helpful. Thankfully, I already have a good therapist. 😂 I am a pretty sensitive soul - so I am actually going to use my first 90 days as my “shadowing” and if it’s too much for me - that’s ok, at least I gave it a go. I’m really hoping I can do this though!

If they would just ban all the first generation neurotoxic pharmaceuticals, people would come out of the psych hospitals at least as *physically* well as they were when they first went in. About six weeks ago, my 58-year-old brother (you can see him here in the profile picture) still looked at least 15 years younger than his age. After spending just 10 days of being overmedicated with Haldol at Pembroke Hospital, he ended up with drug-induced Parkinsonism, complete with locked jaw and locked arms and legs. Then as if that wasn't bad enough, when he was sent to Beth Israel Plymouth to undo THAT damage, Beth Israel Plymouth gave him (notoriously kidney and liver damaging) REMDESIVIR for Covid that he (and most of the other patients) had contracted at Pembroke. So now, not only has he visibly aged at least 20 years in only six weeks, but his formerly flat stomach is bloated with ASCITES from the Remdesivir!!!!

Fuck dude... im about to start working on locked ward as an OT. Im a 44 year old new grad. Im an empath. I grew up with older brothers that were in and out of drug induced psychosis. That lived experience is handy, i guess 😂.
I am planning to just shadow my senior OT and lock myself in the nurses station if the shit hits the fan.

I have this question please.I am bipolar and am on mood stabilizer, two antipsychotics and an antidepres. I take a total of 8 pills a day.
My worry is that I feel flat. I have no emotions whatsoever . I don't feel interested in anything or nothing makes me happy or sad.
Can I slowly reduce my meds to the point of taking only a quarter of one antipsychotic or it is a dangerous move?
I would greatly appreciate your opinion .

@@A_Psych_Nurse I take 150 MG zoloft total (1 pill in the morning and two in lunch time), 750 MG lithium carbonate ( one pill three times a day being 250 MG each) I take olanzapine 10 MG before bed and I also take aripirazole 10 MG in the morning.
I have been on this combination for 1 month and 22 days.

@@danielahoxha7025 Wow okay you're on a HOST of meds Daniela!
obviously i can't tell you what you should or shouldn't do but if it were me. . .:), and I was thinking I was on too many meds, I'd eliminate them one by one, starting with the least potent med first, VERY slowly.
so I would talk w/ your prescriber, and see what they think about tapering down the Zoloft first. I hope this helps :)
If you try to taper more than one med at once I think it could be difficult to tell what med is causing what.
Would be great if you kept us posted on what happens after you talk w/ your prescriber.

@A Psych Nurse thank you for your reply.
So you think gradually reducing only zoloft to what dosage ? And of course I will do it very slowly.
Do you think in the meantime when reducing zoloft I can start tappering lithium or wither of two Antipsychotics? Or it is not a good idea?
I don't know if my psychiatrist will approve this .I hope she will or I'll have to take your advice.

@@danielahoxha7025 well I personally would start only w/ Zoloft if i was on those meds b/c the research shows the antidepressants don't work better than placebo, so that's the one I'd focus on first w/ my prescriber.
but again, I'd run this idea by them and see what they think--they might have more useful suggestions. Or just tell them what your plan is and see what they recommend.

Nickr, if you’re employed- even part time, most employers offer EAP (Employee Assistance Program) or EAG (Employee Assistance Group) at no cost to the employee. These programs can connect you with a therapist for 6-10 sessions at no cost to you. It’s an employee benefit that many do not know about!
