accept the things you can not change, have the courage to change the things you can
Thank you! Just the word "stress" use to stress me outages but my advice is that stress isn't a bad thing and when we realize that's we start to feel better about ourselves and I love how you said that we hold the KEY to our stress levels I'm going to start changing where and what I put my focus on and start living simple. I do want a simple life to be honest.
Eat
Sleep
Breathe
DO GOOD and FEEL GOOD
And it's how you react to things that determines your sucess in life
DO GOOD PEOPLE LOVE YOU
It's a shame teachers can't use a presentation like this to educate our children. The visual display kept me as interested as the topic itself. Great video!!
actually my teacher showed me this
@@deepeep Bro I have to do this for pdhpe hw💀💀💀
watching this for homework rn, just doing it for the A
don't be shaming teachers for not being artists
This was great! For those with a neurotypical baseline. I just have to add, 90:10 works if that is really how the system is set up for you, if you have certain existing privileges on this earth and are not being systemically undermined or projected upon by OTHER people's inability to inhabit or deal with their stress. Dissociation and projection, or dispossession and transference of feeling, is known in the psychological community and for those often of marginalized or silenced otherness, in daily life. Additionally, I would advocate that some people are naturally rationally minded and CBT is an effective technique. Others are more somatically or kinesthetically sensitive, traits that are not typical tested for in young children in preference for the types of intelligence that succeed in cognitive culture. So to change our thinking towards coherence, we all can benefit from techniques to guide us towards our other brain -- no, not that one :) -- in terms of being guided by the heart. Choose coherence! I love it. The HeartMath folks are good at coaching this. Thanks again for this fun and guiding video.
Thank you for such a generous consultation/ life-changing event, Dr. Mike! - I am a psychiatrist, and I will be sending this wise, brilliant, incredibly helpful video to every doctor, patient, and friend I have. I am deeply grateful.
Dr. Rebecca
That was extremely helpful, it gives a different approach on stress "the car is not driving you you're driving the car" that's what I concluded from this video, it's an art form to be mastered after many years of being programmed as "helpless" it's difficult to think you can actually help your own self feel better by managing your thoughts.
It gets back to mindfulness and being in the moment. The intention, or choice, to being in the moment, attention.
Dr evans, I am a psychiatry resident in NYC. I love your videos and prescribed my patients your videos as homework. It really helps them put things into perspective for them and makes it easier for me to treat their more complex issues.
thank you for your videos
This was really great. I've been using mindfulness based therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy to manage stress for a while now. I would only add that exercise plus all of this makes it far easier to discipline your mind, something I've found lately.
I totally give consent to this,"Change Our Thinking".It's really useful for me.Thanks
This dude's voice sounds so soothing and relaxed. This must not be a coincidence.
He is not stressed
10% what happens to you, 90% how you respond...
I gotta remember that one
thanks you just helped me with a homework answer

I watched this video for my Grief Counseling class, but it was extra useful for me because I do have problems with being overly stressed and anxious.
Good video
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CHANNEL. GREAT STUFF!!!
Best quality, Best wisdom with Scientific proven facts.
Amazing relaxed and clear voice with no crappy music at the background.
simple, clear, effective, inspiring, interesting.
too good! thank you for doing this for all of us.
It simply amazes me how there's 110 dislikes on this. Guess it might have stressed them out.
haha thats so true
Good one! Haha XD
funny stuff, now there seems to be no dislikes
One of the best videos I have seen thanks for posting. Its from 2012, but valid.
2021...more valid than ever before perhaps.
Thank you. I just happened to read about your video innthe Utoronto, Autumn 2013 magazine this morning and voila, I discovered a wonderful resource that I will bookmark and refer to again.
I see my own habits clearly described here and what I need to change.
Thanks for such an amazing idea given to some of us: Honestly some of us do not know how to handle stress because of our attitude, thinking and lack of understanding. I will try to put your lessons in practice so i can improve on how to handle my stress line and i will also share the video to help others and save life .
This sounds right but if I see it from another point of view, I'm afraid of people's mind can be controlled. What's wrong with being stressed? Is it really up to our way of thinking? The society we live in is not a cool place and very normal to feel stress. But we might be able to use stress as a helpful resource to take it into an action. feeling stressed out is a natural sign. It's good to trust our intuitive emotional and feeling of stress rather than trying to make it something different. People are too focused on changing and suppressing themselves, but maybe it's better to let ourselves be free and as it is. Let it be stressed out, upset if it does.
Rather than someone telling us this is the answer and we should follow this, isn't it more helpful that each one of us know how to communicate to the body and mind, then find individual answers and ways to deal with?
intriguing user name.. Great point and true -we can get overwhelmed at times and all the advice in the world may not help in the moment... and we should try and avoid judging. I tend to use something called Motivational Interviewing when people are stuck. More of a dance than a wrestle...
Great reminders and fantastic animation. Kudos!
The knowledge in this medical video has facets like a diamond. Good to look and refer to any problem systematically and analytically.FAntastic. thank you.
Fantastic and compelling - I will watch this again and again. Thanks.
Stressed and looking for ways to reduce it? I was just introduced to Dr Mike Evans today and think that he's absolutely brilliant!:)
I love this style of teaching (narrative and drawings) I needed to hear and see this today.
Dr. Mike, your videos are extremely beneficial
My god, how simple yet profound. I'm going to watch this thing everyday for a month to see if I can soak it all in.
This video was really insightful and reminded me that letting things go redirecting your attention really does work. There have been times where I chose to stay upset/stressed about a situation and continued to think about it which only made me more stressed and upset. Then there have been other times where I chose to let it go and move on with my day saying, "It'll be okay." I think learning to let stressors go is quite the task. But I definitely think it's very useful in being healthier. Letting things go quite frankly sets you free because there are limited things someone has complete control over. When I get really stressed out I usually partake in deep breathing and sometimes I even write. The latter being very helpful at times to just expressing myself through creative outlets. Very informative and eye opening video!
Such an important topic. This lecture should required for everybody
never watched something so amazing, feeling good today. thank you
Hey Mike....a friend of mine told me about your video and suggested I watch because I have been feeling so stressed recently...really wonderful..thanks...i once showed my grade 4 class a ken robinson animated video about education that they would not have understood without the graphics...i think it's a great illustration of how when different parts of the brain are activated, communication becomes more effective. when i play the audio, they don't understand. but with the two together, they easily understand very complex ideas....joe
Excilent , wonderful, perfect
It could not be better. The power of thinking. Thanks
Standing ovation for you and your illustrator!
Great video. Lots of similarities to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I may share this with a patient tomorrow
Excellent video. Thanks for taking the time to film and edit it and of course for positing it for our benefit. Keep up the good work! -Migs
Love the idea of answering the question regarding the one single thing.
Stress is often overwhelming and at the height of stress we need something clear and simple to avoid getting even more stressed by the solution!
Loved the mind map at 1m 51 showing the perspectives of stress from different professionals. Especially the idea of reframing stress as positive in smaller doses.
We'd agree that changing thinking style is key but say that it's important to mention that thinking habits might not shift dramatically in 5 minutes. There may need to be a gradual changing of thinking habits in order to make it stick.
Overall a superb presentation.
And That's my advice to The People.God is Cool and good ALL the time and he's the one to talk to you
This is the best video about stress i have ever watched, thanks alot
Just use a diffuser while you're getting dressed for work, it really makes a HUGE difference.

Good info. Its also worth noting that some doctors have noticed that CBT has a sucess rate and a failure rate. The failures are not always due to lack of effort to apply CBT techniques. Check out the book Mood Cure. It was found that for some people, metabolic imbalances incline them to negative thinking, extreme emotional reactions, etc. In fact, Dr Hans Selye, a prominent researcher in stress, demonstrated that physical stressors could produce the same stress reactions as what one might call negative thinking. So the matter is complicated by things such as food/chemical sensitivites or allergies, environmental stressors, chronic inflammation, poor diet, etc. But this video is excellent in pointing out the value of better thinking patterns. IMHO, this can help even when a physiological problem is the root cause of ones overreaction to stress.
I like that 90:10 Rule! I'm going to use that. Thanks for the video. Great content.
Great video. I'll definitely start putting this piece into effect.
Simply put, highly informative and effective.
Talk about your Good Times in your life and Be Thankful and move on and don't ever beat your self up when u make a mistake and pick your self up and be cheer ful.and be positive
Such great videos DocMike ... will be adding this to our RUclips channel
Thanks for that fantastic presentation.
Awesome illustrations and presentation! Thanks for sharing!
I love the illustrations and writing style. It enhances the narrative. :)
A depression can almost be physical. One feels the weight of the world on your shoulders, & it is difficult to get up in the morning let alone change your way of thinking.
Thanks doc. that gave me a few things to think about during a rough time.
Thanks very much for making this helpful video. I really feel it helpful. I'm very lucky to watch it today when I am feeling stress from my school and exams. I want to change my own thought and the way how I look at the thins and exams that I really want to do well. Thank you again!
thank you very much doctor for these videos
Thank you for the post, it is very useful and insightful video. It is amazing how much a person can learn in 11:01 minutes.
SOOOOO very helpful! Thank you for helping me understand my inner world!
I thank you for this. And I admire the impact your work makes in the world community.
Fantastic video. Thank you for making this
Great compilation of a lot of theory and some engaging science, with excellent suggestions. Thank you!
Another cool vid Dr Mike. Well done for making the science bit sound and look so cool!
Thank you Dr. Mike. I am in the group at St.Mike's and we are practicing alot of this.
Thanks for such a fun presentation. I will pass it on!
This video was recommended to me by a friend, and I found it very useful. I'll be reviewing it carefully and following the advice. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and providing support regarding a very difficult issue.
Interesting content. But I feel like this video tells " what to do " and not " How to do it ". The second question is usually the big challenge for the highly stressed people, I would be glad to get more information about HOW to explore these different steps of Changes in Thinking. Also, although stressed people might agree that this can be a solution, but not all of them are motivated to furnish the efforts to do it. This will go back again to the question, How to Change your Thinking ?
Great vid, thanks so much! I honestly don't understand how anyone could give this vid a 'thumbs down'. This is solid, common-sense advice that is very appropriate to everyone.
I am going to use this to teach my womans group about stress. :) Thank you
this is great. Thanks so much for making this available to us all.
Thank you very much for this very good presentation. This is very informative. Keep it up!

Thank you for posting this video. I find that being mindful has really helped me to change my negative thinking into something more positive and that seems to lower my stress and anxiety

Hey Doc, I've enjoyed the presentation. It was very simple and easy to understand. I'm a therapist, and I'm always learning. I picked up some good tips to teach and inform to my clients when addressing their personal stress. This was helpful.

W O W !
GREAT video; very INFORMATIVE and great attention grabber technique!
Genius work sir, one of those videos that really changed my view...
Great visual presentation. The most powerful idea is that there is a space or GAP between stimulus and response. If we ignore the GAP (power of choice) then, the fear mechanisms of the amygdala send us into a limbic reaction (the limbic system is the emotional center of the brain) firing the survival mechanisms of fight-flight response regardless of the nature of the perceived threat. If we allow ourselves to respond using a variety of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Technique) we have the chance to filter our response with more optimal solutions to the stressful situation using the frontal lobe. This alone is the most encouraging factor of human behavior. We can change the outcome if we change our perceptions. Thank you.
Its amazing way to deal with it Thanks
Thanks for sharing, it really helped a lot, please keep doing this illustrative Workcheers from Mexico!
Thank you for the video. شكرًا جزيلاً علي الفيديو
