I know everyone in the comment section is saying they had a negative experience but what about the people that have newly been diagnosed with schizophernia like my sister. One night she just switches and we have been losing her eversince. She runs, screams and talks loudly to herself. She has lost everthing in life. We have to find her under bridges 😭. How in the world do you help a person like this without medication? Its not possible. What you guys are saying is unrealistic. We are afraid we will find her in the worse senario 😭😭

My sister has had schizophrenia most of her adult life & spent time in state hospitals over 3 decades. Upon release she stopped taking her medicine and would fall back into catatonia, hallucinations and deep catharsis. After my parents passed away she was left to her own vices with little or no support. If it wasn't for me she would be living on the street, the damage has been done & it's like cleaning up after a 61 year old child.

What infuriates me is how pervasively they displace legitimate medicines for the treatment of an illness. Since when we agreed antypsychotics are safer and or more effectives than MAOIs in the treatment of resistant depression or social anxiety? Since when we agreed they are appropiate for the management and prophylaxis of mania when we had lithium already ffs? Since when we agreed they are the first line augmentation strategy for antideppresive therapies? Since when we agreed they are more efficacious or safe than Z drugs for insomnia? Or even that its okay to prescirbe then offlabel like candy but you are a criminal for even suggesting that offlabel ghb for insomnia might just be the golden bullet to treat the disorder? NONE of it makes sense and its extremely ascientific. Not to mention the permanent remodelling of brain structures that have been found to happen in rhesus monkeys after just 1 month antipsychotic therapy.

Zyprexa withdrawal is the worst thing that has ever happened to me period. Everyday I wanted to die. The anxiety was unbearable, I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep and felt an overall dreadfull feeling of doom and despair I had never felt in my life.Thankfully I am now better and tapering by 10 percent a month. Horrible medication perscribed by doctors so easily yet none of them know how to taper you off and when you call them in the midsts on withdrawal caused by their rapid taper all they can say is "the medication can't be causing this".

@@adriann3561 I don't know. Both times I went off cold turkey I had to go back on it cus the withdrawals were too unbearable but even after going back on the pill, they took months to resolve. I would always advice against cold turkey but it does seem to work for some people. I'd say if you start to feel any withdrawal symptoms to go back on it and start a slow taper. I know the desire to get off of it quickly is big but sometimes slow and steady wins the race. Did you have those feelings while you were taking it or did you get them only after quitting it?

  • @treefingers6329

I've been on olanzapine nearly continuously since 2013. Before taking the meds I was extremely paranoid, hearing voices, completely unable to sleep, believing the world was coming to an end and it was all my fault. This drug causes drowsiness, this is true, but when I take it at night it helps me have a long and deep sleep. I've found that this drug is exceptionally good at treating the symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia, and the side effects can be managed. For example the weight gain can be managed by logging calorie intake. Although logging all your calories sounds boring, if you make it a daily habit you can avoid putting on weight and in fact I've lost weight since 2013. My BMI is currently 21.2. I also had a little bit of shaking, but many of the other side effects you’ve mentioned haven’t happened for me. I don’t agree that it’s like having a lobotomy, as I am able to hold down a job as a software developer and am doing well. Before you accuse me of shilling for big pharma, consider this: olanzapine is a generic drug. The profit margin for drugs that are out of patent is small, and I don’t think that there would be a big marketing campaign for pushing it on people. If anything the industry would probably fund a campaign to switch from something like this to a third generation anti-psychotic as that’s where the money would be. I did see a lot of scare mongering about the risks with long term use of this drug back in 2019, so I tried to taper off the drug on my own. This of course was a terrible idea. I lost all ability to write software, I became profoundly confused and paranoid, I was hearing multiple voices very loudly and once again I thought that the world was coming to an end. The experience was analogous to going to hell, and I do not want to repeat it again, and I'm lucky I didn't get fired. So by all means talk about the side effects that people can experience with this drug, but it should be recognised that for some people it can be a life saver. If I didn’t take this drug I’d have probably committed suicide by now.

They cannot prove for certain that a patient has schizophrenia, there are no tests to prove for certain, many patients are wrongly diagnosed. Once you are diagnosed you are in the system. The treatment is drugs, drugs and more drugs. If they are not effective and cause problems they will blame your illness. The diagnosis and the drugs will be defended that is their main priority, not the patient. If you are on the wrong medication it can cause big problems, it can make some of your symptoms more active and cause many problems. Many patients lives are ruined with the medication.

THE STUDY WAS A A VERY SMALL SAMPLE SIZE, AND THAT MAKES IT IRRELEVANT THE GOAL IS TO CONTROL POSITIVE SYMPTOMS OF DISEASE AND NEWER ATYPICALS DO THAT PRETTY WELL. HOW DO YOU SUGGEST ONE MANAGES A PATIENT WITH SCHOZOAFFECTIVE DISORDER AND HAVING SYMPTOMS???? YOUR INFO IS DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO NON COMPLIANCE FOR THOSE WHO REALLY NEED IT. SAD!

I have worked with for forensic population for approximately 30 years. besides working the floor I spent 10 years having groups on education about mental health medication‘s, criminal, thinking, etc. etc.. occasion I would ask the group if they were very psychotic living on the streets, not able to take care of themselves what they want a Forced medication or not 50% of them say yes, and 50% say no roughly. The problem is if you’re truly psychotic not from drugs how will you ever be able to take care of yourself? If you don’t get stabilized how do you become independent functioning if you don’t receive this medication if it’s forced on you. It’s a very difficult situation but I really don’t see a way around it if the only way for you to become stabilizes through medication.. also, the population I dealt with 70% committed homicide by fully psychotic

Worked mental health for 35 years and 20 years as a psych nurse. I could write a book about my experiences. I spent a few decades with patients who were found incompetent to stand trial who committed various serious crimes 70% violent or murder. Long story short most days I really enjoyed my job and found it interesting. The mind is amazing I was found it interesting the voices patients heard which is separate from there thoughts. Be safe out there . Biggest advice I could give is listen to your patients , be patient, and simply converse . You be surprised how helpful your relationship is to your self and patients n how you can effectively defuse a situation because the patient trust you

TMS should be first line treatment! I tried 8 different antidepressants (20 years with MDD) from three different classes and while only a few were effective the side effects outweighed the benefits! I had to come off of the ones that worked to save my marriage! Happy but completely asexual. I spent most of my life thinking covert and overt thoughts of unaliving myself was just something I had to live with, after my 28th session of TMS those thoughts were gone completely. But 36 sessions I finally felt “normal” and not broken. Aside from the imposter syndrome I had after leaving my first nursing job (which would have devastated me in the past) I have handled the period between jobs well. Starting a new job at a private mental health facility. I have always felt a draw to this side of nursing.

I know for me, becoming a nurse during the pandemic was what woke me up to the vaccine charade. I realized I never did any of my own research and just trusted they worked. Blindly followed the pediatricians because my mother did. Up until November 2020 I was getting flu shots and was “up to date” on everything else. Had to get proof of titers for nursing school. Thing is I had measles and mumps when I was a baby and never got shots for those. I still have very robust titers from that. Then I got a vaccine injury from my 10 year Tdap or flu shot in November of 2020. It was awful. They had changed the flu shot and gave me a quadrivalent not telling me it had changed. I swore off all vaccines after losing function of my right arm. Then the covid vaccine push on a totally untested platform. It was so weird that I started looking at all of them. Found the act in 1986 and it was down the rabbit hole in medical journals in school. Trials do not have control groups and they refuse to compare vaxed to unvaxed. There are more of us nurses that are not pro vaccine than people realize. Also the narrative changed while I was in school was that we no longer had to know the vaccine schedule, just know what to look for after administration and what needs to be reported to the provider. I got chills because by this time I was already not pro vaccine.

So this sounds like a very frustrating situation that got blown out of proportion for sure, but… completely avoidable if even a basic assessment was done for symptoms when the “lozenge” request was made. You mentioned Tylenol as a PRN, but would you have given it without doing even the most basic pain assessment (0 to 10 how would you rate your pain) and yeah I get it we don’t have a set assessment for nicotine products but I think even just looking at the chart and seeing she has never been given it before should have prompted some inquiry. This is a med error. You could have done more to protect yourself, and the warning was appropriate. Dealing with the parents was punishment enough. You should own some culpability here and I am not seeing that in the video. From one nurse to another I am not here to kick you while you are venting but to offer another POV. That sounds like a super awful experience and I hate you had that. Hopefully you haven’t become complacent in doing basic assessments because that is super rampant in our profession right now. Thanks for the content. It is really helpful and hopefully I am able to return the favor.

From my knowledge, schizophrenics are people being subjected to mind control experiments. I know that if you look up MK ultra mind control you will see references to the CIA as they lost a lawsuit in Montreal in the seventies in connection with that. Look up " Ex CIA Dr Robert Duncan and Tyrone Dew, directed energy weapons " for information on the matter. Voice to skull weapons were used in Iraq war under "voice of God weapons" . Look up " Dr Rauni Luukanen Kilde mind control " who connects these mind control experiments with schizophrenia. You can also google "electronic torture" under images and find a lot of information there.. Many people are subjected to this, they called themselves "targeted individuals".
