    Just wanted to point out that there is three editions, AutoBiography, Adventure and Heritage Edition, also in selected countries like NZ the Adventure Edition comes standard with the expedition roof rack and snorkel.

    In true essence this is one of the last off-roaders to still use solid axles front and rear and a true rough and tough SUV, the Americans have the Wrangler, the Germans with their G-Wagon its purest form which I guess will be the G300 Professional, the Japanese with their Toyota Land Cruiser Series 70. Well the Defender will never die, yes it will stored and tucked away until a global demand for them emerges but just like a soldier, old soldiers never die they just fade away.

      Mark AD to be honest, you are not far wrong. People go all misty eyed over these but I work in a car dealership and had the chance to go over one with a fine toothcomb to see how its built, and you really do pay a lot for a very basic car that is not much different in design to one made 40 years ago. Proof of comparison because my boss has one that old, and parked it side by side in the workshop to see the difference. It is very capable off road, and does have a certain charm, but you really are just paying for the badge, and most land rover buyers wont use it off road. Its a school run car, or something to show off when getting your hair done.

    Just a thought. Even though Land Rover wasn't selling 90's and 110's is any significant number, it was still critical to the success of their other models. E.g. A poser see's a Defender on Land Rover's marketing campaign off-roading and go's "wow" and wants to buy one. They then go to their LR dealership and look at a Defender, think not and buys a discovery sport/freelander instead to drive their kids to sport on the weekend. And now LR has lost a lot of their 4x4 marketing ability to appeal to their large target audience who wasn't actually going to buy a defender in the first place but actually an on road LR product instead......
    Land Rover has to make a hardcore series LR again and the world will be happy. But sadly not as the DC100 concept looks like and is a piece of crap.

      Till today Land Rover is still doing marketing with the Defender and Series. Customer probably do not know that they are out of production. :(

    I d be lost without the defender. As the the name suggests, I have Cruisers for getting about too, but the Defender s the mother ship.

    Another defender review without much proof of its ability/features versus price. To say that it's worth 60k plus because it's been around for 60 years and won't be manufactured any longer does not justify the price. If you want an investment, stick to the stock market or real estate. Don't get me wrong I've always wanted a defender but as a second fourby, at least a 70series LC has plenty of power...

      The fact that its been used in theatres of conflict since its inception by the British army? The fact that something like 80% of all of them ever made are all still on the road? One of the most recognisable silhouettes anywhere on the planet? I hardly think the defender has to justify the slightest thing to you mate, wind your neck in.

    We here in America had to say goodbye to this iconic roadmaster decades ago; because of bullshit regulations and behind "closed-doors" tomfoolery. There isn't even a single, mid-size 4x4 vehicle in this country that comes with a diesel option; unless you want to include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and how many soccer moms and hairdressers are going to want to get theirs dirty. I've wanted to own one of these for over thirty years; but in America, you're only as free as the government says you can be. I think the company is making a big mistake; because when this actually takes place, which I think it already has, Toyota and Nissan are going to clean up with a vengeance. Welcome more cheap plastic, and expensive, pretty leather for the lazy and dedicated followers of fashion........... The human race is going to hell in a hand basket!!!!

    Common you Americans,south Africans and Antipodeans there is a chance for glory here. We don't want kits now assembled in Solvenia because the EU says so........so ring up Land Rover and demand to assemble kits in your country of the defender and its new ungenium jaguar engines.Its the easiest car in the world to assemble?
    Where are those entrapenuers who have a land rover passion.just do it ??? Now is the time to get moving.....

    Around 2000-2001 they introduced the Defender Xtreme with traction control........problem is, even with "ANY" new 4WD you have to loose traction before you gain control.....DAH!....or hill decent control, you have to loose traction before you gain control
    With the former L/R's you had CDL (Center Diff Lock), locking diff's front to back.....YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO LOOSE TRACTION AT ALL......New tech says that the computer will respond when you loose traction (THEREFORE YOU LOOSE MOMENTUM)
    CDL ...YOU LOOSE NO ...."M O M E N T U M".......HENCE LAND ROVER MOST AWARDED 4WD over and over WORLD WIDE untill they introduced stuffing computers........................SO SAD

    • @seanyoung8952
      @seanyoung8952 7 лет назад

      The defender Xtreme still has CDL

    • @nnoddy8161
      @nnoddy8161 6 лет назад

      Completely incorrect. All Defenders have centre diff locks as standard. You were confused about the Discovery 2 losing the CDL (which could be retro-fitted/reactivated quite easily).
