My mother is 104 and we show her pictures of her at 20 during the war at formal parties, sipping cocktails in a gorgeous dress, surrounded by handsome men in full uniform, or when she was a stewardess with BOAC welcoming Charlie Chaplin on board. This video too is so bittersweet. Sweet because it reminds us of the glory and beauty and grace of youth, and bitter, because unstoppable time robs us all of those things we failed to treasure then, and at the end, tomorrow disappears.
I am old too and to be old, only then can you really appreciate these closing lines from a great novel that celebrated youth.
"Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter-to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning--
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”

I think, as she was watching with a serious face, that she was remembering the choreography and all the things you have to pay attention to when you perform: where your space is, what the musical cue is, the blister in her shoe, how the dancer next to her was moving into her space, like that. Dancers like this make it look like you just get up and shake it and have a great time, but she was remembering all the elements that you attend to as a professional. Wonderful video, thank you.

Great lessons from this kind soul. Enjoy your youth and mobility, keep it as long as you can. She lived a longer life than many of us ever can dream and she did it her way. God bless and her memory lives on through videos just like this one.

Did you see her personality burst out of her when he mentioned her old nickname Chicken Little? Makes me emotional seeing that

I wish we could all realise that the person inside the old, worn out body IS THE SAME PERSON who was inside the young beautiful one. We make such assumptions about people based on appearance and our own prejudices. I love how she lights up when she's watching her young self.

Until my parents have grown older and I grew more mature, I got comfortable over time as they and all elders aged. I’m not sure if it’s prejudicious but rather, not being around our elders and feeling uncomfortable around them because we feel we can’t relate. We, too, will age and hopefully we can have the younger people so kind like this. Our dad passed away last year at the age of 84 from Alzheimer’s. However, he was verbal and could remember things from when he was a boy. I was honored to have been with him at the end to hear stories I never knew. RIP

This makes you realise that the old frail person you brush by in the street without a second thought was once as young as you are. Life is short and you only get one shot so get out and enjoy the world because once you're gone you're gone for good!

      Arobain
      That wasn't my point.
My point was respect your elders because once they were like you and one day you will be like them.

Esse, can't you read? Kenshiro said you only have 1 life, then Arobain said unless you is a christian, then I - a christian - said Amen to that. You dig?
