@@XenoDrake Colorblindness is a sex-linked recessive trait, this means that it is carried on the X chromosome and not the Y chromosome. The reason for this is because the X chromosome carries a lot more DNA than the Y so males get a lot of their traits from their mother while their father only supplies the coding to become male and some other traits. So a female with XX can have the colorblindness trait on one X and still see color since the other X will override the recessive x. Males on the other hand only have a single X, so whatever is displayed by the X whether colorblindness or not, the male will display that trait, since there is nothing from the Y chromosome to override the recessive x. This is reason why a lot of hereditary diseases are displayed more often in males than females. Another example of this is hemophilia, which is the inability to clot blood.
@@SnailKingGY Huh. Interesting. I heard of a guy that was saved from AIDS as hemophiliac because someone in his long ago DNA ran across something a lot like it before.

I wonder how it feels to see a color we've never seen before -- like how humans only see a small portion of the wave spectrum. I can't even imagine what a new color would look like.
Omg ya me too cus at the moment we can’t even imagine a coulee we can’t see and so then just seeing it all of a sudden must be the trippiest things ever
Seeing this reminds me of my first LSD experience. It's pretty much like I didn't see color before, everything gets more vibrant and colorful it's crazy
I've tried to imagine a new color and it drives me crazy that I can't.
People with tetrachromacy see more colors than most people. It’s far more prevalent in women than men (pretty much the other end of the spectrum from red-green colorblindness, which is far more prevalent in men).
At school I did a blindfold test everyone was blindfolded and when my blindfold was removed it was so bright and overwhelming I think this is what they see!!!
I was hanging there until the last clip of that little boy. When he started to cry I just couldn't keep it up anymore. I cried like a little baby. And I'm a grown ass man.
Me too!!!
Me three 😭😂
Crying is ok. Even if you're a grown ass man. My husband cried at UP.
Omg same! I thought I was gonna make it to the end but the flood gates opened 😭
Pure joy!!
"What kind of colors do you see?"
kid: "good ones"
OMG!
Unfortunately, these glasses do not actually allow these people to see the colors they're blind to. It's just like a phone app photo filter, but makes the colors they can't see more distinguishable. Unfortunately, these glasses are hyped up way beyond what they do in reality.
@@omsmada "hyped way beyond what they do in reality" yeah, tell that to those people who cried just by using them. We know these don't cure color blindness, but it's something for those people. It isn't going to work for everyone, because glasses can only do much, but it still deserves a lot of praises, because of how practical it is.
@@omsmada but obviously works well enough to bring grown men to tears. That speaks volumes. And you have invented what? Yes, it doesn’t “cure” those who are color blind but it does work for some. Better than nothing. Just like cochlear implants.
It has me a little confused because I'm not colorblind but I guess I am seeing the colors differently because they pointed at that guys shirt and said it was purple....it looks completely blue to me. And before they said the foam board thing was pink.... but it looked white to me.
I love how these glasses come in so many styles. They never look out of place on the person’s face, and you can tell it‘s a gift that a lot of love and thought goes into.
They don't actually work. This is viral marketing
@murrayshekelberg9754 I'm sorry they didn't work for you. Really - it must have been very disappointing. They do work for some people though.
The one thing that makes men cry:
*Colour*
Hahaha
Actually couple...colour, sound, vision...
And watching other men cry
Just imagine, now they have to go through the ridiculous business of using terms like "lilac" or "lavender"...
*sitting here waiting for that one American kid to “correct” you*
Last boy broke my heart. Loved how when he started crying quietly, whoever was filming lost focus because they went to hug him. Goes on to say that living a moment is much more important than any video you can capture...
as an artist this really gets me, I can't imagine how incredible it must be to see colors you've never been able to distinguish before. The little variations in the world is what makes it beautiful, Im so glad that these are available to people now
Same!
When a person becomes an artist, over time that artist learns more and more over the years to open up and really see those vibrant colors in the most beautiful light and also see more of it around them...they also get a new outlook on life because of it,really...
Nobody gets it, gets the impact, until the tears come. Then you realize just how diminished the visual world has been for these people. That last young man just reacted-he had no social filter and simply was overcome. So sweet.
7:10 “he’s so happy he didn’t realize we look so good” lol I love his reaction😭❤️
Intense emotion is really hard to display from a man sometimes, so seeing these men cry is just a true tear-jerker
I noticed there wasn't a single woman in this and it makes me wonder if being colour blind is just more rare in women.
@@XenoDrake Yes it is.

It's amazing to see how emotional the response to colour is every time. Colour is important to life! I'm happy to see these people being able to see it for the first time.
The *"Is This PURPLE?!"* was the greatest

This makes me feel that us normal people rly take seeing colour for granted
We do... I didn't even realize how important colour was until I saw a video like this.
Well, all these people are normal, you know. We get what you mean, but you worded it awfully
Not like that's a bad thing, as that's normal
Yes, we do!
@@shishinonaito Not about color perception. Being normal is being in the norm. It's a statistical thing, no more, no less. It doesn't imply good, right, or acceptable. It's normal to want to hurt things from time to time, and it's normal to see color like most do. So, the color blind aren't normal. Don't attach negativity to it.
I remember my best friends first time seeing colour, he said the first thing he did we look directly at the colour of my eyes to see how different it was.
I really couldn’t help but start crying-
I felt so honoured, I was so happy my eyes were the first thing he saw....
But- he..... he left me not even 4 weeks later, he got hit by a car and I never got to see him again-
4 weeks after his first ever time seeing how beautiful the world is in colour.... and after he left me, his family told me he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend.
It hurts so much to think about him- I miss him so much.
I got really sappy while watching this, I started to think about him. I’m really sorry if I triggered anything for anyone else-

I’m sure he’s peacefully waiting for you in Heaven. I’m sorry for you and everyone else who was affected by his death.
What would your answer have been?
oh my gosh :((
That cheat sheet they made was such a creative idea. So thoughtful
Then it said love you!!! That was so beautiful. They really love their child.

As someone who is losing his vision, I'm thankful to God for all that I got to see, and am very thankful to God for the gift of color these people now have. To the inventor of these glasses, thank you!
I feel mine is starting to go more and more and nothing can fix it i had a test done 10 years ago the said 25 percent of my left eye was already dead its a bit lazy because of that and as a kid it was hard to deal with and not have any answers but for the last 10 years if some one notices or asks im able to explain it to them and then its as if i dont have some crazy eye anymore i have an eye trying to center the view with what it has to work with

@Just_AutumnYT he would paint his face purple, then when they put the galsses on and see his purple face, he would say "I've always looked like this"
