  • In this video, I go through the history of the different versions of the PRS Santana SE from its release in 2001 until today in 2023. I talk about what changes the company made over time regarding the different specs.
I then give a demo comparison between the two versions I own, original and modern. I conclude with a summary on why you would want to buy this fabulous guitar.

Cool demo! I love both guitars, but I think I'd lean towards the shorter scale model because I think of it as the more classic Santana shape. My next guitar will probably be the current Santana SE in golden sunburst. What a cool ax! BTW I saw Santana at the Greek Theater in Hollywood in '93 and to this day it's one of the best concerts I've ever been to. There was just such a happy feeling and Carlos and the band played great. And he was rocking a very cool PRS signature in sunburst. His tone was wonderful.

Oh, what an AMAZING experience!!! 🤩. The shorter Santana SE is a great choice!!! I play mine a lot for teaching and videos. 🎸🎶

Thanks! 🎉I got my PRS Santana SE in 2002 and very happy 😄 with it. I suppose that the pickups have aged well. But you answered my questions about the many changes in 20 years. Your help is much appreciated. Dr. Gary K

My only beef with this guitar is the horseshoe back of the guitar body around the neck. I've never played one but I hate that look, love Santana though. Great job on the comparison. Blues Cube, nice touch, great sounding amp!

Sometimes a little thing is a deal-breaker and sometimes you play a guitar and realize it’s not. Definitely worth it to keep playing until you find one that makes you smile!! Thanks so much!!😁🎸🌟🎶

Get the newer version, 24 frets on 24.5" fretboard is fantastic, plus that yellow is the bomb!

I have the new one. 24 frets on 24.5" scale length is awesome! These guitars shine with thick saturated distortion with lead guitar riffing. think Santana.

Julie, great comparison. I already have a CE 24, but now, I might have GAS for a 'modern' Santana, since I like that styling better than the original version.

Intersting. On Mexico they have sold them in the amber/yellow color since at least 2008, and had the 1st headstock logo you showed.
(i remember it because i liked the guitar butdid not like having his name so big on the headstock, kinda cheesy 😅 )
I honestly have been wondering between buying the latest iteration of this guitar OR the 245. 😮 I really like the scale and the "wide fat " neck
which honestly doesnt seem like neither when you come from classical guitar 😅
I truly like more the body designs of Fender's but their neck shape is 99% modern C 😮

Santana endorsed PRS guitars early on, so only natural for PRS to have a Santana line, but I get that a logo can be too big.
I actually like the neck on the newer Santana SE more than the fatter neck on my premier Santana model. I play the SE a lot more, probably because I use it for teaching too.
I recently discovered the short 24” scale fenders really work for me. Different vibe and sound altogether though.
Both are great guitars! At that point, it comes down to neck, color, components, switching options, and how many volume/tone knobs you want. Best wishes! 😁😁😁🎸🎸🎸

the current Santana is the closet to Pauls original/first hand built guitar...from the back it looks like a les paul jr dc...great design!
