her label actually dropped her after pink pony club because it didn't "do well enough", she had to move back to her hometown for a couple years, and then finally managed to make it back out to LA and release her new album! Her story is crazy!

Unfortunately it usually takes something outrageous to be remembered for. Many beautiful singers out there will never be famous because they don't have a gimmick. Like weird outfits, colorful hair, crazy makeup. She started doing that and quickly gained a following.
i love her signature "voice cracks" (if that's what u call them?) like when she does a breathy note as a release in the middle of a note or riff its just urrghh so good
It's intentional yodeling. I don't know if she's trained it or if she can just do it naturally, but it's absolutely an iconic feature of her voice.
