I remember the times me and my family were sleeping in a van. 3 adults 1 young adult and a baby. All in a Honda odyssey. We’d sleep at Walmart and McDonald’s and go to work in the day time. It was tough but things got better. I’m very thankful at the time Walmart and McDonald’s was 24/7. Keep your head up and be safe ! I hope things get better for you to.
May God give you strength and peace and keep you safe. When I was homeless there were churches that opened their parking lot for people to sleep overnight. They even allowed them to use the bathroom at the church.
I'm trying but winter doesn't even start until the end of December 😱 January February and March might test me in a new way. Thank you for the support 🙏
Get a jackery power charger, go to Walmart and get a reflective Mylar blanket. Get a wool blanket, mittens not gloves, wool hat..small bucket /trash can and cat litter for the business end when u can’t get over to a bathroom, get a small mini crockpot that can heat water and soups and rice, stick lights that run on batteries, carbon monoxide detector,..zippo hand warmer that lasts 12 hours and extra fuel for that. Truck stops are good
These days there is a threat of becoming homeless due to cost of living too low of wages and lack of jobs and llow vacancy rates on living space. Not everyone has a double income household including the house. Be safe...stay warm and take care! ❤

Been there and done that. I'm 68. Fuck any country that put me in such a miserable situation! I left the U.S. and moved to nice, warm, affordable, Ecuador. My 2 bedroom apartment here costs $350 a month, furnished, and including all utilities.😊 The stress of living in the narcissistic U.S. was killing me. The lousy food... The lousy healthcare... I had high blood pressure when I left. I am now healthy again. Get out while you can.
Well done you! I believe the USA is the worst place to live in. Over ten years ago I left London UK and moved to the mountains in central Europe, I bought a tiny very old stone house, I grow my food, keep chickens and goats, preserve my food mainly through fermenting or dehydrating, I have no bills, no car, no electricity, no job but eat like a Queen...I'll never go back to live in the UK again. The world is big and beautiful and we need to find a better place for us. Take care!
@@juliejones974our health care is terrible... no paid family leave... America will never have good health care. Cause of the rich donors that fat pocket democrats and Republicans

Kudos! This is never easy. I am a travel nurse and I have always wanted to test myself to live in my car and be like a nomad. I did it with my first contract. I enjoyed it actually, but there were a lot of challenges and consideration. And I have never been in a bad weather like this when I was doing it. What I have realized is the stereotyping, considering that I wasn't really homeless but was trying to see if I can make this kind of a lifestyle, whenever people were asking me where I live i kinda get flustered. It took me a while to tell them I was living in my car and their reactions were so out of this world. They didn't understand that I was doing it because I want to and I was r3ally hoping it never should have been an issue, but in this country unfortunately it is. I was able to live in my car for 3 weeks. Its agreat experience, humbling and it gave me great respect for people who are in this situation.
You should leave the snow on your car if you’re not going anywhere. Snow is a good insulator and will actually keep it warmer in there. When I was homeless I passed out drunk one time in a field and it snowed a couple inches on me. The snow actually insulated me and kept me alive. I probably would have froze to death if it wasn’t for the snow.
Me and my family have been homeless since june 2024. Its now almost Thanksgiving. We r living in r cars. Never done this before. Its hard!!! Especially in a tiny car. Our new Emergency shelter has a waiting list for families just to get in!!! No hotel vouchers or transitional housing and mine u, we li3in a wealthy community. It makes me so angry how our "government"helps illegal immigrants and ignors American citizens. I'm so sorry to everyone who has their shit together but simply can not afford what greedy landlords charge.
Friend, you need to go to Mexico. Destroy your I.D. and any other paperwork that identifies you. Then, cross the border illegally and apply for asylum. At that point you will be housed in a hotel and given 3 meals a day, a mobile phone, and a prepaid debit card.
I wish I could give you more. I am in the same situation with my husband. But we found a place to stay thanks to a woofing working experience where they give you food and accommodation for few hours of work. Stay safe and God bless you 🙏
@ if no one is telling you this, I tell this: you are an amazing inspiration and human being! Keep going and you will be rewarded. I saw people in that part of the world building tiny homes on wheels to live in, or maybe even just a little bus with a stove. I am sure better days are ahead you! Be very proud of yourself! You made a very good video here, and I am glad to see that you are surviving. I am glad to see that you have, from the looks of it, a nice dependable car, which is so much more important in a situation like yours. You clearly have intelligence and a good attitude. I wish you very good luck in your future.
years ago when I knew I was going to be down and out, I bought a cheap camping Trailor and paid a friend 100 a month to park it in his backyard, worked out way better than just sleeping in a car.
You seem to be doing pretty well. You are clean, dressed well, warm, for the most part, eating well because you have money. Those quesadillas you made looked good. Plus you had the determination to walk to a place to inconspicuously make them! That is an awesome sleeping bag!
I like how this is actual homelessness survival. The whole thing that attracted me to vehicle living was an actual bout of homelessness. Not glamour shots on the beach, or traveling to see the world. My wife is mentally ill and while we now have resources for her back when our lives fell apart i didn’t think I could maintain an apartment. Bravo good sir for using that empty stove front to cook.
There’s roll out awnings that attach to roof or roof rack of car. Something like that would be a great addition so you can cook outside without leaving your car to find a spot.
You could get a hot water bottle to keep you warm and a thermos to fill with hot water to make teas to keep you warm. And instead of the nasty fast food, get sardines, eggs to boil, salads, cucumbers, lemon, etc and make a big salad with sardines and eggs; it's much healthier and cheaper..you need healthy food to keep you fit and sane for such hard life. Take care.
@tarey05 that's what they've told you lady..new studies say that's not the case. God, use your brain woman and please don't reply, no time for people like you. Goodness me!

Just a little tip from a long time full and part time camper. Ive learned in Canada that just one candle in a jar can keep the worst cold away. Even with the window 1 millimeter open, it will make a big difference. Just make sure you dont get a scented one, they are very bad for your lungs in a small area.
Hello Maya- I myself have been a month living in my civic. i never thought about the candle. Yes, scented ones would make sense are harmful. So unscented soy wax? Thank you. My father kicked me out of my room because he wants more privacy to sleep with my former friends mom. It just started snowing and its pathetic he chose lust over his adult son’s life
@IV creation: get yourself a minus 50 sleeping bag and you will be toasty warm. Sleeping in flanel PJs keep you comfortable and not restricted in moving. Put the cloth you plan to wear the next day underneath your sleeping bag and they will be toasty warm the next morning. Take this as an opportunity to meet new people and opportunity to create a better future for yourself. Wishing you all the BEST!
@@mayam6678 you think my father and my former friends mom have karma coming to them? And I agree with your reply, thank you for taking time off to respond. Yes, so this is what I did. My mother has been using my room as storage. Violating my personal space. And she had two high quality sleeping bags. SNATCH!!! Haha 🤣 Yup, YOU throw me outta the house because of these shenanigans. You will have your blankets and sleeping bags taken. I should have taken her sausage dog luna. I kinda want to go to court to win custody over my puppy 🐶 😢 Absolutely pathetic. And my FORMER friend KNEW!! Guess he was no friend.
I lived in my car in Denver area for 12 yrs... summers for 8 and full time the last 4... old, disabled, broke, no heater, little fuel.. sparse food, -10 frequently wearing everything and a foot of blankets... just like you. God bless walmart arapahoe rd and s havana.. area .. ended 5 yrs ago 🎉❤
When I lived in a minivan I had an electric blanket, and a jackery 500 kWh battery. On the lowest setting the battery was good for ten hours. It kept me really warm. Now you can get a cheap Nissan Leaf for like $2000 and live in that. Easy to keep the heat running all the time, especially when plugged in charging somewhere. Lots of free chargers. And if you are charging and sleeping in our car, your charging, not homeless.
Another tip for you. Buy some reusable snap heat packs after you use them, you can boil and let them cool down to reset them. Then you can use them again. Just repeat the boiling/cooling process. Three or four pairs should do nicely.
The things we have to do to survive. Man. When I graduated college I had no where to go. I was lucky to have a friend from church take me in for a year which was all I needed to get on my feet. But I had times throughout my life where you have to bear it with a smile. Bless you and I pray you reach all your goals!
The most important part for me was removing my passenger seat to make a bed platform. Car seats are impossibly difficult to sleep across. If you work then maybe you'll find sleeping in a car ain't so bad. Since I don't pay rent I always have lots of discretionary money to do what I want. This year I went on vacation to Wyoming for the entire summer. Just relaxed in nature for 3 months. I hope the best for you.
I live in the UK, in the city of Peterborough. The city council here provides food and shelter for the homeless in the winter and so does Peterborough Cathedral. As an exchange student, I spent a few weeks in Denver working as a busboy, back in 1980. It might be worth you paying a visit to Denver Cathedral, in case they can provide you with hot food and a warm bed for a night or two. Good luck 👍
I am in the same situation you are and I find it better just stay at a hospital overnight safest place you could be for many reasons specially when it's snowing
@@dan6p It's ironic but true and possible. Part of the reason we all will go through bad times is so that when we reach out and share about God's goodness, others cannot say that we don't understand what it's like 🤷🏻♀️ On the other hand, sometimes, what happened could be a consequence of something that we need to learn from. You can't blame everything on the Lord, unless you first also admit that your life never really belongs to you and you should have submitted entirely to Him. So now, was it God or was it not. Then, your life, is it yours or was it supposed to be the Lord's? One cannot have it both ways

@AmyC28713 wow! Didn't know you could use a SUV, then again I hauled many 4 to 12 pound boxes and envelopes...hauled a envelope from San Francisco to cedar rapids in a Mack Box truck....John Deere paid for the whole truck....

I live in a small mobile home with my 3 kids. You have a good set up in your car. Stay safe.
YMCA's used to allow homeless people to use their showers, bathrooms and work out for free, that was back in the 90's, when I used to work at one.. He might be able to get a ymca scholarship that would pay for, or greatly reduce a yearly membership. I had a friend who was able to get one for 50$ for the year. Well worth it for the facilities and programs
OK sure 😂😂😂😂😂

years ago when I knew I was going to be down and out, I bought a cheap camping Trailor and paid a friend 100 a month to park it in his backyard, worked out way better than just sleeping in a car.
You seem to be doing pretty well. You are clean, dressed well, warm, for the most part, eating well because you have money. Those quesadillas you made looked good. Plus you had the determination to walk to a place to inconspicuously make them! That is an awesome sleeping bag!
Currently in a similar situation brother. God bless you and wishing you all the best 🙏
These are the videos I like no music play just down to earth everyday life without the dam background music great video my friend
Take care.
Be careful of heavy proteins if u have high uric acid and gouty arthritis.
@tarey05 you are wrong..sugar and high insulin resistance causes gout, not protein.
@thelandofmint uric acid from purines in proteins lead to gout. Look it up. Geez.

Hi Eric! have a good night, stay warm.
I will. I got lots of blankets.
Omg.

This is me next month, I am going to study all of your videos. Thanks for posting your experiences.
Good luck 👍

@@dan6p It's ironic but true and possible. Part of the reason we all will go through bad times is so that when we reach out and share about God's goodness, others cannot say that we don't understand what it's like 🤷🏻♀️
On the other hand, sometimes, what happened could be a consequence of something that we need to learn from. You can't blame everything on the Lord, unless you first also admit that your life never really belongs to you and you should have submitted entirely to Him. So now, was it God or was it not. Then, your life, is it yours or was it supposed to be the Lord's? One cannot have it both ways
