2 WIRE Irrigation System DO'S and DON'TS | Wire Splice Troubleshooting

Two wire irrigation systems can be hard to troubleshoot and work on sometimes, especially when the right materials are not used on the wire splices. In this video I show you a do and don't when you are splicing the wires of a two wire irrigation system. It is very important to make sure all the splices on a two wire system are done correctly and have a weather proof wire splice kit that is recommended by the manufacturer. And the best practice is to put all wire splices of an irrigation sprinkler system in a valve box. That way you can get to the splice to service them if need. On this job I ran into something that I have never seen somebody do before. They used window seal caulking to try and weather proof the wire splice. Ok, that is not a good idea. I am a strong believer in using the right tools and materials for the right job. This is not made for this application and it is why this splice went bad. We fixed it with the right splice kit, a DBRY kit, and put those splices in a valve box. Its really the way to go.
