    *CORRECTION* : _In my video starting at __09:39__ where I wrote instructions I have down that you make your first dc3tog in the next 2 chains. It's suppose to say 3 chains. I say and demonstrate me working the dc3tog in the next 3 chains but I have heard the 2 in the typed location is confusing some people. Sorry about that!_

    I'm going to try this version of the chevron stitch! I was making 3 blankets using a different version and my points were not lining up so I got very frustrated and angry and quit trying for a long time. I totally frogged one and I'm just doing a straight double crochet using a 4 weight yarn with an H hook. I may practice this with a ball of yarn I don't use for anything else until I feel my confidence come back and make my son's blanket using this version of the chevron. Approx. measurements will be 43.5 inches by 63.5 for a twin size bed. Then a full size to queen size bed. That'll be fun... Thank you for this video. I can't read a pattern to save my life so seeing an actual video helps me follow along 😊

    Hey Tiff, I'm a guy, 57 years old and, have been crocheting for over 52 years. Am left handed and crochet left handedly. Due to circumstances I am not far past beginner (homeless for more than 30 years on and off). Having difficulty with the Chevron stitch. I get the "stink eye" from people when they see me doing it left handedly. Their attitude is no better! It has caused me to not want to ask for help. My mom knits only, and, has drawn up the crochet pattern for the double crochet stitch for me. I figured it out and my dc stitch looks like advanced chicken scratch compared to a "righty's" stitch work. Mine looks junky-BUT- it works for me. I've watched enough video tutorials that I get to mentally "puke" my guts out! I try and try and try again to get it, but, with alterations it still falls apart. I hold my crochet hook like a "knife" and not a "spoon". Doug

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  2 года назад +1

      Hi Doug. I’m so sorry you are frustrated with how your crochet has been going. It sounds like you are really trying but the results just aren’t what you are hoping for. My best suggestion for you is to forget all those people who put you down or look at you funny. They can just go away and do their own thing and leave you to do what you love. Next, sounds like you might be a bit of a perfectionist. Which I can totally relate to. For that I say allow yourself to make things that aren’t perfect. Your first few projects will have flaws. Embrace them. I was so embarrassed by my first few projects but found out that the people I gave them to actually cherished them. Not because it was perfect but because it was hand made with love. And even if you don’t have anyone to give a crocheted item to there are so many charities begging for crochet items. You could find a purpose or just help others in this way.
      What I’m trying to say is don’t give up. Keep practicing. Have patients with yourself and give yourself some Grace. It will come. Your tension and your stitches. I promise.
      Keep your chin up. 🧶😊

      Tiffany, it's 5:35 am when saw your response. My projects in the past, I can "see" the mistakes in them, and, yes the people that received them were delighted with-mistakes and all because it was hand-made, BY A GUY no less! My mom is from Germany so I am a bit of a perfectionist (we are our own worst critic)

    With the Mandala yarn, do you just keep going between color changes wherever they occur, or do you end a color at the end of a row before the color changes?
    Also, I'm envious of how easily you find the opening in your foundation row, easily grabbing the top two strands and leaving the bottom one. I really struggle sometimes to figure out where to place my hook.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  3 года назад +1

      Hi Carrie! I just let my color changes happen where they happen. It really isn’t that noticeable unless you really look for the color changes. If you are wanting an even color change you can always buy solid colors and choose when to change colors. 😊.
      Oh gosh, it’s practice my friend. I have been crocheting since I was 5-6 years old. It just come naturally to be like a robotic move. You’ll get it! Some people prefer to place their crochet hook with 2 loops on the bottom and one loop on the top off the foundation row. Just what works best for you. If you would like check out my video called Crochet Step #2. I demonstrate how I crochet into the foundation row really slowly and with a close up camera view. 😊❤️🧶

    Looking at the chart and instructions you included I see that it is lightweight (3). Is this easily workable with a 4 weight adjusting the hook for the weight? Would this change the dimensions on the chart?

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  3 года назад +2

      Hi Marilyn! Great question! You can absolutely make this blanket with a size 4 weight yarn but yes with a thicker yarn the dimensions on the chart will change a little. Here is a basic blanket dimensions chart that I reference: pin.it/3F5Kr1M. You will needle to play with the multiple chain count requirement to get as close to these measurements as you can. Here is a video I made to help find out this information: ruclips.net/video/3TylqErNw8c/видео.html. So excited for you to make this blanket! 😊🧡🧶

      Hi Jessica! You’re correct, I did not include that because I let it be up to you on what size you wanted to make. I did include a chart at the end of the tutorial that includes approximately how much yarn you will need to complete each size blanket. That chart is also included in the pattern. 😊

    I have a question...on your written pattern chart you have 168 chains for a crib blanket. Does this include the “2” extra? Repeat is 14 + 2. My guess is no as 166/14 doesn’t work. Can you help I have done this 3 times and I can’t get it to work. Maybe still too green....thank you.

    • @CrochetWithTiffany
      @CrochetWithTiffany  3 года назад +2

      Oh No! Oh gosh, looking at it I missed adding the +2 when I was working all of the calculations. Thank you so much for pointing this out to me so I can fix it. 168 / 14 = 12 which is an even number. So just make that foundation row 170 and that will be the perfect number. Thank you so much for asking! 😊🧡🧶

    Tiffany, I would be grateful if you could let me know how many stitches or repeats you set up for your beautiful lie wave blanket.
    I am recovering from a bad fall, have a broken left wrist and am trying to work out pattern by multiplying 28 x 8 = 264 plus 2 chains.
    As the chevron contracts it is not as simple as measuring the chain.
    New to you tutorial, love it, you explain so well. The placing of the “marker” is so important and eliminates mistakes as you so rightly explained.
    I am half way through Janie Crow’s “Fruit Garden Quilt.
    Looking forward to hearing from you.

      Hi Maree! I'm sorry to hear about your fall and your wrest. I can absolutely help you with this. For the blanket that I made in this video I started with 254 chains and made 48 rows for a Small Throw Blanket. Best of luck to you! Happy crocheting. 😊🧶🧡
