THANK YOU AMANDA FOR SHARING THE PETALS BABY BLANKET TUTORIAL PATTERN WITH US, TO KEEP OUR HANDS BUSY IN STRESSFUL TIMES. THE TUTORIAL IS WELL DONE, SIMPLE, FOCUSED, COMFORTING VOICE TO FOLLOW ALONG WITH, BLESSINGS.
I love this stitch and the border! Thanks for a wonderful video! I love how you use close-ups to show us where to put the first and last stitch on each row. That's so important!
Thank you so much for something so simple yet so beautiful I started and undid 7 baby blankets until I found this one...l was close to giving up but then your pattern came up and l'm glad l decided to give it a go. What a beautiful blanket l now for my newest granddaughter Thanks again 💐
I saw this months ago and saved it in my patterns on my phone. I loved this stitch & blanket and knew I would make it someday. I am looking for a new blanket pattern now and remembered this saved pattern. I can’t wIt to snuggle under it’s squishy, warm, crochet goodness!!
Very pretty. You have a very relaxing way of teaching. I love that you are so detailed and don’t rush through the stitches. Thank you for this beautiful blanket pattern.🥰
This blanket was so nice to make. Easy and quick yet beautiful. The directions were easy to understand and I always like a video. Love the Caron Cotton Cake yarn. It’s soft and self-striping helps to make my blanket colorful.
I’m a beginner at this crochet thing but I am doing this blanket and it’s pretty easy to do and you do a great job at teaching exactly how to do everything! Thank you!!
After viewing you tutorial, I recently purchased two of these CARON Baby Cakes in this Petals color way. 🧶🧶 It was like winning the yarn lottery!! Looking forward to using these in the new year. 🥳💜💗🌸😀. Thank You Very Much for this tutorial, Amanda. Therese Pisarcik
Thank you for this pattern! I am making it with 2 colors, a varigated for the bumped up double crochet rows and a solid for the regular double crochet rows. It is looking great!
This is such an easy stitch pattern. I have been looking for a nice border for a baby boy blanket that is not frilly and this is fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi I really liked this pattern I just did a small swatch, your instructions are very clear and easy to follow this suits my speed when learning a new stitch, I will be using this for my next baby blanket thank you ❤
Hi Amanda, Love this!!! I’m making a baby blanket for my friend she is having a girl. I’m using 3 different colors so I’ll have a lot to see in later but it’s turning out beautifully !! Pink, white and grey. Thank you for sharing ♥️
This is a beautiful blanket and your instructions are very clear. I have started making it and just discovered that the Caron Baby Cakes we have in Australia are only 3.5oz per skein so I will need five of those not the two I have bought!
Don’t you love your Clovers? I love mine... I reach for them more than I reach for my Furls Odyssys... The Clovers fit perfect fully into my very small hands.. Thus us such a pretty blanket... Thank you for the very clear instructions... 👍
I’m glad you love this blanket! Yes, I love my clover amour hooks! I’m so glad I discovered them and have been obsessed with using them ever since. I agree, they are perfect for smaller hands 😊🧶
I am new to crocheting. The hardest thing for me is turning around and making it even and making it look good. Do you have any ideas I might use. Love your beautiful crochet work and your tutorials
Thank you! My best advice for beginners is to insert a stitch marker in the very first stitch and the very last stitch of the row, moving this up as you make your rows. This helps to make sure you’re getting all your stitches and your ends are even 😊🧶
Thank you! Yes that would work! As far as mapping your colors out, it’s really up to you. You can change colors every two rows or four rows. Or if you want thicker stripes, maybe every 10 rows. I’m sure it’ll turn out beautifully 😊
Thanks for sharing this pattern and the video. I just finished this baby blanket and love the stitches it went pretty fast. I wasn't to sure about the border but it ended up beautifully. I didn't use the yarn you did I tried a bulky 5 worked great. I didn't use the same number chains and I think it was to small. How many yards do you think this pattern is?
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this pattern. For this blanket, I used about 1.5-2 cakes of Caron Baby Cakes #4 weight yarn. This ended up being about 1,120 yards. My finished blanket ended up being about 33W x 31L. Hope that helps!
Just subscribed to your channel... What a stunning blanket... I've been looking for a new stitch that looks pretty so I can make my mum a throw for her birthday and she will totally love it... Thank you for sharing it...💗
This is a wonderful pattern. Thank-You! I've just started it and was wondering how many stitches I should end up at the end of row 1 and will this be the same stitch count for the rest of the pattern. New follower and will continue to watch your videos Thanks
I'm glad you enjoy this pattern! For row 1 you should have 100 stitches as you start with 103 chains, but are skipping the first 3 chains, ending with 100. You should get the same stitch count for every row afterwards.
I finally Finished it!!! I'm ready for the boarder. My blanket is measuring 34 " wide by 46" long. Perfect Crib Size Blanket. How do you do this border first row. Being that one side of the blanket are chain 3 ends and the other is chain 1 ???
That’s great! For the first row of your border, you will work one single crochet around your entire blanket. You will put three single crochets in each of the corners. In my video, I show you exactly what I mean. Hope that helps!
Hi Amanda, I was really excited to make this Petals baby blanket but have just discovered that the Baby Cakes are discontinued. Can you recommend a self striping substitute in the same weight that is also machine washable and dryable? Yarn searching can be mind boggling. Dawn
Hi Dawn! I recommend Bernat Pop or Premier Sweet Roll as a good comparison. Because these two cakes are smaller than baby cakes, you may need to get more cakes to complete this project. I hope that helps!
Thank you! I hope you give this a try sometime. The yarn I used for this blanket is Caron Baby Cake. You can find the details here: www.michaels.com/caron-baby-cakes-yarn/M20003668.html
@amandacrochets HELP !!!!! I've been trying to make this blanket for weeks !! Somewhere along my 25 rows I have messed up the last stitch and number of chains to turn. My edges are def not right. I came back here and rewatched your tutorial. I have been chaining 3 at the end of every row 🤦♀️🤷♀️ somewhere along the way. My question is , should i take 20 rows out ( seems i was ok for first 5 rows ) and start them again or is there anything else I can do ? Do you think the Picot boarder will be enough to coverup my edges?? This Mandala Ombre Yarn is not what i was expecting as a size 4 weight. I have had issues with it since the get go but I am determined to make it work !!!!! I WANT THIS BLANKET TO BE PERFECT FOR MY FIRST GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS DUE TO ARRIVE IN EARLY AUGUST!!! I CHAINED 123 AND IT'S BEEN TAKING ME ABOUT 30 MINUETS TO CROCHET EACH ROW !!! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
What could help keep those edges straight is using stitch markers. Place one in the very first stitch of your row and then again in the very last stitch of each row. That way every time you complete a row you know what stitches to work in. Maybe the yarn is difficult to work with because it’s hard to see the stitches? Sometimes “busy” yarn can be difficult for beginners. If your blanket doesn’t look too lopsided then you can continue with your blanket. However, you can always tear apart the rows and start again, but that’s your preference. The border will help hide the uneven edges a little, but if the edges are really noticeable, it might be better to try again. Hope that helps!
@@AmandaCrochets TY So much. I have been using stitch markers along the way but not in he first or last stitch. I just took out 22 of 25 rows and i'm starting again using your advice . I really appreciate your help.
Nice pattern; however, I wouldn’t use a self-striping yarn because of the two different colors in the border which doesn’t look good. Thanks for sharing though.
My blanket keeps coming out crooked. I keep counting amd making sure I get every stitch and end my pedals in a slip stitch, and I keep somehow missing a stitch somewhere. Help!
I’m so sorry to hear about your blanket! My advice would be to start with a small swatch first to make sure you’re seeing every stitch and understanding how it’s worked up. You can also go up a hook size if you feel your stitches are too tight and you’re not able to see them properly. Good luck!
Thanks! I used #4 worsted weight yarn called Caron Baby Cakes. I used 2 cakes of this yarn. I mention this at the beginning when I talk about the materials used. Hope that helped!

In doing border, do you use one color, or keep going as colors are in ball yarn"
I used a self striping yarn for this blanket. However if you’re using a solid color yarn, you can use whatever color you’d like.
Hey how do I avoid holes on right side , on the texture side ?
Much appreciated
You could always go down a hook size and see if that helps.

I only have right handed tutorials. I’m unsure how to make my videos into left handed tutorials. I’m sorry!
i love the patterns ! im planning to make one soon, but may I know the details of the yarn ?

I used two skeins of Caron Baby Cakes (8.5oz each).
Can you use any kind of yarn you would like or is it had to be a certain kind
As I mentioned in the video, you can use any yarn you like. The possibilities are endless!
