Love this idea, especially with that border! I need to use up my stash but I’m dying to buy some of that new Baby Cakes!!
The baby cakes are awesome! You’ll have to try it sometime. I thought the border went well with this blanket. Thanks!

Very pretty pattern. 😊
Thanks!
I did this square last night, but used a Cotton, 4 weight yarn & a size 4mm hook. It came out really well & measured 6"x6". Very pleased with it.

Sehr schön, Danke from Germany!!!
Vielen Dank!
Nice pattern
Thanks a lot!
I think this pattern is Beautiful..😉😊

Wonderful tutorial and pattern with the border. Thank you 😊
Thank you! 😊
This is a beautiful blanket and your instructions are very clear. I have started making it and just discovered that the Caron Baby Cakes we have in Australia are only 3.5oz per skein so I will need five of those not the two I have bought!
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying this pattern 😊🧶
Goud. You are👩🎓👍💚💜
Thanks!
🙏
Thanks!
Don’t you love your Clovers? I love mine... I reach for them more than I reach for my Furls Odyssys... The Clovers fit perfect fully into my very small hands..
Thus us such a pretty blanket... Thank you for the very clear instructions... 👍
I’m glad you love this blanket! Yes, I love my clover amour hooks! I’m so glad I discovered them and have been obsessed with using them ever since. I agree, they are perfect for smaller hands 😊🧶
Beautiful
Thank you!
You welcome .is it a new stitch pattern
@@AmandaCrochets I'm kind of stuck on what to make so I'm looking for new stitches
It was just a stitch I found online. Doesn’t really have a name to it. Just alternating double crochet and slip stitches.
You could always make a small swatch of this like I did to see if you like the pattern. That usually helps me decide what to make next.
This will be great for me to make & donate to my local chemo Infusion center. You get cold during chemo!
That’s a great idea!
Thanks for sharing this pattern and the video. I just finished this baby blanket and love the stitches it went pretty fast. I wasn't to sure about the border but it ended up beautifully. I didn't use the yarn you did I tried a bulky 5 worked great. I didn't use the same number chains and I think it was to small. How many yards do you think this pattern is?
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this pattern. For this blanket, I used about 1.5-2 cakes of Caron Baby Cakes #4 weight yarn. This ended up being about 1,120 yards. My finished blanket ended up being about 33W x 31L. Hope that helps!
This is a wonderful pattern. Thank-You! I've just started it and was wondering how many stitches I should end up at the end of row 1 and will this be the same stitch count for the rest of the pattern. New follower and will continue to watch your videos Thanks
I'm glad you enjoy this pattern! For row 1 you should have 100 stitches as you start with 103 chains, but are skipping the first 3 chains, ending with 100. You should get the same stitch count for every row afterwards.
@@AmandaCrochets Thank-You for answering my question. I really appreciate it! ☺Hope you have a blessed day ☺🌞🌻
This is so pretty! I have 2 skeins each of Solid Baby Cakes in Red and White. Would they work? If so, how should I “map” my stripes? Thank you! 💐
Thank you! Yes that would work! As far as mapping your colors out, it’s really up to you. You can change colors every two rows or four rows. Or if you want thicker stripes, maybe every 10 rows. I’m sure it’ll turn out beautifully 😊
I am new to crocheting. The hardest thing for me is turning around and making it even and making it look good. Do you have any ideas I might use. Love your beautiful crochet work and your tutorials
Thank you! My best advice for beginners is to insert a stitch marker in the very first stitch and the very last stitch of the row, moving this up as you make your rows. This helps to make sure you’re getting all your stitches and your ends are even 😊🧶
i love the patterns ! im planning to make one soon, but may I know the details of the yarn ?
Thank you! I hope you give this a try sometime. The yarn I used for this blanket is Caron Baby Cake. You can find the details here: www.michaels.com/caron-baby-cakes-yarn/M20003668.html
Attractive blanket and love the border. How many skeins were required and their yardage?
I used one full skein and about a half skein of the new Caron baby cakes yarn. Each cake is 560 yards.
@@AmandaCrochets thank you
Anytime!
Can you use any kind of yarn you would like or is it had to be a certain kind
As I mentioned in the video, you can use any yarn you like. The possibilities are endless!
Hey how do I avoid holes on right side , on the texture side ?
Much appreciated
You could always go down a hook size and see if that helps.
i am new to crochet, can you tell me how many “balls” of yarn you used? I am trying to figure how many i need to order
I used two skeins of Caron Baby Cakes (8.5oz each).
@amandacrochets HELP !!!!! I've been trying to make this blanket for weeks !! Somewhere along my 25 rows I have messed up the last stitch and number of chains to turn. My edges are def not right. I came back here and rewatched your tutorial. I have been chaining 3 at the end of every row 🤦♀️🤷♀️ somewhere along the way. My question is , should i take 20 rows out ( seems i was ok for first 5 rows ) and start them again or is there anything else I can do ? Do you think the Picot boarder will be enough to coverup my edges?? This Mandala Ombre Yarn is not what i was expecting as a size 4 weight. I have had issues with it since the get go but I am determined to make it work !!!!! I WANT THIS BLANKET TO BE PERFECT FOR MY FIRST GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS DUE TO ARRIVE IN EARLY AUGUST!!! I CHAINED 123 AND IT'S BEEN TAKING ME ABOUT 30 MINUETS TO CROCHET EACH ROW !!! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
What could help keep those edges straight is using stitch markers. Place one in the very first stitch of your row and then again in the very last stitch of each row. That way every time you complete a row you know what stitches to work in. Maybe the yarn is difficult to work with because it’s hard to see the stitches? Sometimes “busy” yarn can be difficult for beginners. If your blanket doesn’t look too lopsided then you can continue with your blanket. However, you can always tear apart the rows and start again, but that’s your preference. The border will help hide the uneven edges a little, but if the edges are really noticeable, it might be better to try again. Hope that helps!
@@AmandaCrochets TY So much. I have been using stitch markers along the way but not in he first or last stitch. I just took out 22 of 25 rows and i'm starting again using your advice . I really appreciate your help.
You’re very welcome! I really hope that helps 😊
@amandachrochets it's official, I have Finally found the ( self striping ) pattern I have been looking for . Using @lionbrand Mandala Ombre in " BALANCE" I am (trying ) to make a blanket that will be a keepsake for my first grandaughter who is due to arrive in August. ❤ Since I'm a Semi-beginner ( came back in november after 20+yrs ) who only learned to make granny squares and pot holders along with making the Skein into a ball and the basic stitches SC, DC, TC, CHAIN . Now, I have made 3 blankets that were all 1 row repeats ( 2 DC in 1 ST, skip 1 and repeat) with the exact same stitch. That was all a learning curve for sure as i ended up with a Queen Size blanket, wow that was a huge project that i didnt realize was going to be that big when i decided to use a 8mm hook instead of using a 6mm like i did on the blanket before that, using the same brand and type of yarn!!! lesson learned lol
TY so much for this absolutely beautiful blanket and for teaching me a new stitch pattern.
I'm so glad you found this tutorial and are going to give it a try! You will love the results of it, especially in that yarn you chose. It would make a beautiful keepsake :)
@@AmandaCrochets I NEED HELP WITH THE EDGES PLEASE!!!
@@michellesanchez741 using stitch markers on the very first stitch and very last stitch of each row will help keep those edges straight :)
This is the Floret Stitch
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Amanda, I was really excited to make this Petals baby blanket but have just discovered that the Baby Cakes are discontinued. Can you recommend a self striping substitute in the same weight that is also machine washable and dryable? Yarn searching can be mind boggling. Dawn
Hi Dawn! I recommend Bernat Pop or Premier Sweet Roll as a good comparison. Because these two cakes are smaller than baby cakes, you may need to get more cakes to complete this project. I hope that helps!
I finally Finished it!!! I'm ready for the boarder. My blanket is measuring 34 " wide by 46" long. Perfect Crib Size Blanket. How do you do this border first row. Being that one side of the blanket are chain 3 ends and the other is chain 1 ???
That’s great! For the first row of your border, you will work one single crochet around your entire blanket. You will put three single crochets in each of the corners. In my video, I show you exactly what I mean. Hope that helps!
@@AmandaCrochets i did it. thank you so much for helping me through it. The blanket looks beautiful.
@@michellesanchez741 You're welcome!
In doing border, do you use one color, or keep going as colors are in ball yarn"
I used a self striping yarn for this blanket. However if you’re using a solid color yarn, you can use whatever color you’d like.
Nice pattern; however, I wouldn’t use a self-striping yarn because of the two different colors in the border which doesn’t look good. Thanks for sharing though.
It all depends on how you’d like the finished product to look like. You can certainly use a solid border for this blanket if you so choose 😊 thanks!
Do you have any of these in left handed version
I only have right handed tutorials. I’m unsure how to make my videos into left handed tutorials. I’m sorry!
Very pretty blanket you didn't give the way to the yarn or what yardage it was
Thanks! I used #4 worsted weight yarn called Caron Baby Cakes. I used 2 cakes of this yarn. I mention this at the beginning when I talk about the materials used. Hope that helped!
Do you any hats for preemie babies
I have a few hat patterns on my channel. I give the size chart to make the hat in preemie size all the way up to an adult size. 😊
Can you post the link for the border please?
The picot border link is listed in the description box below the video.
Thank you, I must have missed it the first time! Got my yarn and very excited to make a larger size for my 9 year old who still likes girly but not "baby colors" as she says!! 🤣🥰
@@KawiLover250 No worries! I'm sure your daughter will love this blanket. Happy crocheting :) :)
