No shit , if people don’t trust a perfectly good benchmade knife I will take it , dang bro I got a mini grip in 20 cv in my many knives of rotation and I would slap the () outta someone applying lateral pressure on it or any other knife I own 👍🙌🙌🙌🤷♂️
this answers quite a few questions I have wondered about the Griptilian as well as the way the liners were mounted into the frame thank you for putting this video out
Thats wonderfull.. a over 200lbs man has to bounce on it to brake the knife. Steel is in good shape. Make me glad i bought one. For a 100$ price tag it a beautiful knife and im sure will handle anything i toss at it.
Impressive ...I own this knife , thank you for sacrifice. No I know how tough this thing is ... The back of the handle blew out ...It seems like the mechanism is still good... I bet a guy could repair the back with jb weld.
A test is suppose to push the knife to its limits and beyond, what do you want to people opening boxes and letters? Awesome test, I was pretty impressed.
Don't ask me how, but a couple years ago I recall stumbling upon an underground kinky fetish on RUclips that involved stomping on things, specifically with high-quality sneakers and boots. It was so surreal, people were in the comments like "i wish i was under those shoes, master" and whatnot. You guys maybe think this is the same thing? I see no other reason to stomp on a quality knife. :P
that held up really well , better than i expected . you should send it to benchmade to get a warranty repair , see what they say : ) this really shows the quality IMO
Still held up well. Have a mini grip and just bought the Adamas 275. Benchmade makes really bad ass knifes. All made in the USA also. I really only buy USA made knifes.
Wow, that was a lot tougher than i expected from benchmades steel, i had no problem making a choil on my Rift by snapping off a chip of the rear of the edge, with a plier
Special place in hell for doing that to a Benchmade! Shows you why they cost what they do. Only the weakest part of the handle broke. I bet the blade and locking mech still work.
That is relatively interesting, I can not imagine putting that much force on it when cutting which makes an argument for steel liners as being over built and not practically functional.
I'm saying just because it is being made somewhere not in the US, doesn't mean it is worse than something. I know Benchmade's 154CM would be bettter but I'm saying Cold Steel's AUS8 is better than most AUS8.
Cold Steel's AUS 8 is better than most, it doesn't matter if it isn't American made, it is stronger and that's what the guy said he wanted. Just because it isn't made in America doesn't mean it is crap, or inferior at all.
This is an abuse test.. how are you going to preform an abuse test without abusing a knife? Also, not that I personally do it, or would ever recommend doing it, but a lot of people use knives to pry things, which is a less extreme version of this kind of stress.
SilverJigGames benchmade will actually replace broken blades as long as the blade wasn't being used against another metal for use as a screwdriver or wedge etc.
Jeez the comments on this video are silly. Comparing this to testing the sturdiness of a car by driving it off a cliff in a negative light...? You mean like taking a perfectly good car and driving it into a wall at 100 km/h to test how safe it is? Yeah, that would be crazy, good thing they never do that. ;)
I am really not sure what we are supposed to learn from this. Don't step on knives on 2x4's ? That may be hard to avoid in daily life. Parallel 2x4's laying on the ground with knives on them are everywhere.
I'll tell you why they don't have liners. If you are putting 200 lbs on your knife for more than 1 second you should've gotten a fixed blade. In what real world scenario will your knife need to support 200 lbs
Even though this video is old the ending sucked. Should have shown the damage better and that the blade still opened and closed. All that looked like happened was a screw ripped out of the handle.
I feel like I'm watching one of those videos where someone just punts a cat for no reason.
No shit , if people don’t trust a perfectly good benchmade knife I will take it , dang bro I got a mini grip in 20 cv in my many knives of rotation and I would slap the () outta someone applying lateral pressure on it or any other knife I own 👍🙌🙌🙌🤷♂️
Folks who think that "plastic" handle that "feels cheap" is a weak point should be directed to this video.
Exactly what I thought would happen. The handle breaks and the lock never fails! Awesome!
This video convinced me to get a Griptilian. This thing is one tough son of a beast!
this answers quite a few questions I have wondered about the Griptilian as well as the way the liners were mounted into the frame thank you for putting this video out
@EnduringEagle
I am not going to make a habit of it, it was just part of the deal of the one who donated the knife for testing. :)
This is amazing. Shows how tough folders can be these days.
Thats wonderfull.. a over 200lbs man has to bounce on it to brake the knife. Steel is in good shape. Make me glad i bought one. For a 100$ price tag it a beautiful knife and im sure will handle anything i toss at it.
Donated knife for that purpose, it was supposed to be broken in the end.
Impressive ...I own this knife , thank you for sacrifice. No I know how tough this thing is ... The back of the handle blew out ...It seems like the mechanism is still good... I bet a guy could repair the back with jb weld.

*jet flying in background crashes on it*

That has got to be the strongest folder on earth.
held up pretty good!
Wow I’m super late to this video. But that really held up to the end. Have you ever done anything like this with the bugout?
Still held up well. Have a mini grip and just bought the Adamas 275. Benchmade makes really bad ass knifes. All made in the USA also. I really only buy USA made knifes.
Wow, that was a lot tougher than i expected from benchmades steel, i had no problem making a choil on my Rift by snapping off a chip of the rear of the edge, with a plier
Wow held up well
lmmfao at some of the comments left.a good test of lateral knife strength.benchmade knows how to produce a fukin strong knife.thanks,great vid
nice review. now when i need a knife to step on i know which one to get! LOL
I really thought the tip was gonna bust but the handle gave way first. That is a good knife blade there.
Very impressed. Those plastic handles are way tougher than I thought. The blade seems unaltered
what boots are those?
@GrinderMagee
I was impressed with it, nice little knife, very strong for it's size and weight.
this breaks my heart
Special place in hell for doing that to a Benchmade! Shows you why they cost what they do. Only the weakest part of the handle broke. I bet the blade and locking mech still work.
I don't think I will get one, but that was really impressive durability.
@FTWCM
The steel liners didn't go all the way back though the handle so who knows.
RIP dear sweet Benchmade...
Awesome video thx
@zujostix
He said he didn't want them back and wanted them broken in the end even if they passed my hard use testing.
just one question - why did The Knife Dude want this knife dead?
What, exactly does this prove? I’d say the scales on that knife are fairly durable. Anything can be broken by applying enough force to it.
That is relatively interesting, I can not imagine putting that much force on it when cutting which makes an argument for steel liners as being over built and not practically functional.
Why on earth do you need full steel liners? For when your using your knife as a bridge?
I'm saying just because it is being made somewhere not in the US, doesn't mean it is worse than something. I know Benchmade's 154CM would be bettter but I'm saying Cold Steel's AUS8 is better than most AUS8.
Uck. This hurts. Like physically hurts. I'm pretty impressed with how hard it was to break though. Good to know :-)
are you wearing timberland pros
@red0ubtable Bone Collector, Rift, Presidio, etc. They're out there, just not called a Griptilian.
@XDHardstylerXD
Price, weight etc. :)
@oromoto
Thanks man. :)
BREAK THAT SUCKA! OH YEA!
ahhhhh!!!!!! whyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?! you make grown men cry with videos like this!!!!!!!!
can we burn a porsche next ?
Griptillians are near impossible to find in OZ.
NONE, hopefully! Just as i hope our car never needs to protect me from a colliding truck!
@jankerson1 NP. I really get the respect/reverence that you have towards well made knives.
Did this guy know what the comments would be like
damn if you have so much money that you can break a knife like that , then send some over to me , cheez !!
🤔That's new system to test knifes 😃
@flashdamingo
That's what the donater wanted.
now that is some extreme flexing. is it 154cm?
there goes $100 down the drain
Cold Steel's AUS 8 is better than most, it doesn't matter if it isn't American made, it is stronger and that's what the guy said he wanted. Just because it isn't made in America doesn't mean it is crap, or inferior at all.
Hate to see something like this. Next time give it to Noss4 for one of his destruction tests!!
@jankerson1 oh. well that makes sense in a way. just more torture tests
I don't understand why they don't have full steel liners...
Why?
I read the knife was donated to be tested for hard use,but why this test?
I don't mean to criticize you...i just don't understand!
I was talkinth about the ones you can customize online either way I pay 20-10 dollar knives
You need someone to dispose of that knife for you after you destroyed it?
you could mail it in and get a new one???
Agreed
@LesRamboGrylls No dum dum, I think theCold Steel XL espada is. ~IMO~
@XDHardstylerXD
Same here..
I buy USA when I can, but a lot of stuff I like isn't made here and I'm perfectly fine with that.
@CowboyNovak you only cringed? I cried a little.
I wanna see somebody do that with an smf
you monster!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Who would be that fricken stupid to do that to a knife and abuse it like that and waste 115 dollars on great knife like the griptilian
This is an abuse test.. how are you going to preform an abuse test without abusing a knife?
Also, not that I personally do it, or would ever recommend doing it, but a lot of people use knives to pry things, which is a less extreme version of this kind of stress.
SilverJigGames benchmade will actually replace broken blades as long as the blade wasn't being used against another metal for use as a screwdriver or wedge etc.
if you read the description of the video it says that a man donated the knife to him, and requested that he break it.
Jeez the comments on this video are silly.
Comparing this to testing the sturdiness of a car by driving it off a cliff in a negative light...? You mean like taking a perfectly good car and driving it into a wall at 100 km/h to test how safe it is?
Yeah, that would be crazy, good thing they never do that. ;)
Why?
@SageSofa
I bent the blade. LOL
@jankerson1 I rather pay a little more and have a stronger feeling knife in my hands. but i still like the Griptilian.
@LesRamboGrylls
Not strongest but very elastic knife
lol this knife is a tank
You should have stopped after the first try, the knife hold up well.
Why would you do that to a 135 dollar knife
I am really not sure what we are supposed to learn from this. Don't step on knives on 2x4's ? That may be hard to avoid in daily life. Parallel 2x4's laying on the ground with knives on them are everywhere.
@jimbo9203
Nah. :D
Standing on it works good. LOL
WTF! And what was that supposed to prove?
@jankerson1 You do what you gotta , : )
Just hate to see a good knife wasted.
lol that was painful to watch lol, but if that handle didnt give out, blade prolly would have. Thank lord for that shitty Nortyl Gtx nowww
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY you coulda donated it to me
I'd rather pay less and get a cold steel.
this hurts to watch...
it was like watching you step on a kitten. WHY would anyone want to do that?!!?!?!?!
100 gone to waist
what a waste of a good knife
WHY!!!!!????????
Yeah painful !! How dumb!! U should did a giveaway.!! There's plenty of people that would love to have a grip!!
No we're cool, but that guy, or anyone saying knives suck just because they aren't American made is dumb.
Why break a good knife?
This was very painful to watch!!!
@Remington597man
Why.
I think this is knife abusing !
:p
@MassSteelLovers waste*
