Let's not forget that Brett inspired an international pop hit when a teenage girl in New Zealand named Lourde (who knew nothing about baseball) saw an old picture of a cute guy with a shirt that said "Royals" and wrote a song of the same name.
Yankee fan here who saw all of the Yankees and royals playoff series and I have to be honest. He was a great great player and clutch as can be. Peace out.
Fantastic! Growing in Kansas City myself and being 6 in 1976 I was along for the great Royals ride. Frank White was my hero, but Brett was the Royals best player. This was a great video, thank for this! ❤
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you for the kind words, it’s great to hear from those who grew up watching these players in their prime. Brett is a legend through and through!
Never knew much about George Brett but this makes me a huge fan of him. Nicely done! If you haven’t already, could you do a video on Robin Yount or Paul Molitor?
George Brett is one of my all time favorites! That man can rake! That homerun off Gossage in the ‘80 ALCS. Whew! I’ve never seen a ball in my life get torqued that hard. I mean I’m shocked the ball didn’t leave the entire facility. Legend has it, that it’s still in orbit.
1980 MVPs Brett and Schmidt met in the World Series of 1980. Hopefully we get Yanks and Dodgers in the World Series that has both MVPs of 2024, featuring Ohtani and Judge. By the way Brett played in only 119 games when he hit .390. If it's ever done again, that player would have to barely play the minimum required. Those Royal v. Yanks rivalry of the late 70s early 80s were lit.
One can argue who the greatest 3B is... but Brett is the lock pick for best in the postseason. In ALCS and World Series games he hit 10 HR, and had a slash line of .350/.461/662 with a 1.123 OPS. In 40 games... which means Brett, who averaged 19 HR/162 in his career, averaged 41/162 in the ALCS and World Series.
@@mickraker1342 Schmidt is the best defensively and has the best power of the 3, Boggs is the best contact hitter, and Brett splits the difference. Boggs's WAR numbers are great, but I just can't call a slow runner who hits 8 home runs a year the best third baseman... And Brett is far and away the best in Championship and World Series play despite Schmidt's WSMVP.
I often debate who was better, Mike Schmidt or George Brett. Brett, the better hitter, Schmidt a better fielder and power. I would think a pitcher would want to face Schmidt because he was much more likely to strike out than Brett.
@Cam23 hey nice, I'm sorry I missed it. I'm a former Expos fan. I've enjoyed your videos on some former players. In the Randy Johnson video you mentioned Mark Langston sign with Seattle after his 2 months with Montréal. He signed with the Angels. I watched a few more today, it's addictive. Thanks for replying.
@@Boobieez Thanks, I'm glad you're liking the videos! Where exactly did I mention Mark Langston? I know he was traded for Randy but I don't recall even mentioning his name. 🤔 You sure that was my video and not something else?
Hi Cam great insane prime video again! Can you please do Big Papi next? I think many people forget how good his 05'-07' seasons were. And he had an outstanding last season to his career.
How about Willie Stargell. By the way Cam23 is dead on the money about the 1985 MVP, it should have went to Brett, just like Trammell and Smith should have won it in 1987.
You’re right, but the point was that the Yankees did not make the postseason, while the Royals did, end of story. It just so happens they won it all. 🤷🏻♂️
Than you have to say the same about Tony Gwynn. But Brett was on fire that year. He may have hit even higher is he had played those games. The pitching then was easier because they kept on starters much longer.
In 1985 the royals won the world series because the umpires miss first base call no replaces reviews plus Brett always cheated by putting a lot off pine tar on the bat.

Sure, nice story bro.
Brett is an inspiration to all 😎
That song was written and performed by a middle aged man in Colorado.
@michaellee4276 Southpark nice
Randy Marsh was a huge Royals fan until they got the Rockies in Colorado.
Dude hits 390 with 22 strikeouts. GOD DAMN!
This channel is really excellent. I look forward to every upload. Thanks 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words 🙌
George is the man, he came to the 2014 Royals as batting coach, gave that team the confidence to go to the series is 14 and win it all in 15
George Brett is one of the 3 greatest hitters I ever got to see play in person.
The other 2 are Tony Gwynn and Wade Boggs.
Imagine if they had played together
I like comparing Brett's and Yount's stats. It's spooky how similar their careers actually were. Kinda like Trammell and Whitaker.

I'm glad to hear that! And great suggestions 😎
the man has my respect, he was a GREAT ball player in his day.
We need you to do johnny bench or pedro martinez

Finally Brett! Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you supporting the channel it means a lot 🙌
I want my childhood hero Jim Thome!
Only player with two kisses from Morganna. Mlb record.
Do Carl Yastrzemski plz
13:40 The most important highlight. And you better believe that, brother!
There was a commercial in 1996 with Brett and Damon.
Jim Thome????
Jim Thome
You should do a video on Paul Molitor and Robin Yount. Also David Ortiz and Nomar Garciaparra.
I'm surprised you didn't mention is interaction with Morganna, it was hilarious.
Jesus Loves you so much!! John 3:16
Let's hear it for Bobby Witt Jr.! He posted a 9.4 WAR this year, tying Brett's .390 1980 season for best WAR ever for a Royals position player.

Love your vids! How bout covering Manny Ramirez and/or David Ortiz. They had insane primes!
Thank you and great suggestions!
FINALLY
Damn straight ohio sigma
Garfield is a happy camper!
This guy made mine childhood as good as Patty Mahomes has made mine late life. Sankoo!!
brett was one of the few players the yankess could never get out. he was mike trout before mike trout.

Next,Robin Yount plz
Had no idea that George Brett had hemorrhoids during the World Series, lol!
The only player that Hall of Fame voters didn't hold 'roids against.
you need to do hammerin' Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron
Can you do mike piazza
Dork pizza
I’d like to see Trevor Hoffman or Mark Fidrych(The Bird).
The bat tara game.
The NEXT levEL!
i've gotta say it. PLEASE DO WILL CLARK
Maybe Julio Franco? He played pro baseball until he was in his 50’s.
Julio would be good but I'd like him to do some 60s/70s guys like McCovey, Stargell or Lou Brock. Maybe Yaz or even Johnny Bench.
Steve Carlton
Stan Musial next please!!!!!!
day 2 of asking for tom seaver
How come it's not mentioned he's the only guy to win 3 batting titles in 3 different decades?
It is mentioned at 11:49

Good choice, my all-time favorite player
No one forgets how good he was then. Ridiculous to suggest people forgot
Mickey mantles pls and I love your videos

That's what I'm saying Stargell or Yaz. McCovey?
Oh yea Yaz with the defense and hitting. McCovey with the power and the Stretch!
How about the insane prime of Ryne Sandberg?
1:13 i have officiallly watched too much fnaf content over the years iykyk
He got jobbed in MVP voting in 1985.
DO BABE RUTH!
The MVP vote is cast before the post-season and thus does not reflect post-season success or failure. Do your research!
You’re right, but the point was that the Yankees did not make the postseason, while the Royals did, end of story. It just so happens they won it all. 🤷🏻♂️
Do a manny Ramirez video or Carlton fisk video
😂
If George did hit 400 I would of not fully counted it cause he missed so much of the season
Than you have to say the same about Tony Gwynn. But Brett was on fire that year. He may have hit even higher is he had played those games. The pitching then was easier because they kept on starters much longer.
Fred McGriff
tom seaver tom glavine willie stargelle fred mcgriff cecil fielder
5 bums. Never heard of any of them
Those are great choices
Do Hank Aaron
Please do George Bell
Sheffields
Technically, doesn’t he have two World Series titles now?
Roger Clemens!!!
As consistent and regular as they get...
Emphasis on the "regular"
In 1985 the royals won the world series because the umpires miss first base call no replaces reviews plus Brett always cheated by putting a lot off pine tar on the bat.
