Being a Cummins Power Fiend I got to drive a PC 3406 A 375 and it was a disaster for the first two days until I halfway figured out the full range governor. Have to like those knock, rattle and ping PC's though.
please fix that oldie but a goodie ! these trucks are the last of a die'n breed !!! the will never make those good of trucks again ! nothing like an old caterpillar !!!
Eric Haley the 1693 was a twin overhead cam motor, one cam for the intake valves, one for the exhaust. Long lived engine as long as you didn’t let it overheat
My dad took a 74 kw short nose with a 6 and a 4 torsion bar susp and a big cam formula 350 cummins and made it a w 900 with an up to date dd4 detriot or dd3 cant remember and a 13 speed on pete 4 bag air trac and went from sqhds to sq100 411s he always said new trks are junk and would take an old rockwell magnet and throw it on the dash as it stuck he would say they dont make them like this anymore we also yarded the ol aluminum frame rails out and added new my Father is a stud. Me not so much
it is tough to say good bye to a good horse I did it twice a94 pete 379 and a 99 kw w900l the owner thaught they were both played out we had a lot of troubles but a bunch of good times.
Okay. I have not been around any mechanical necks. Mostly folders and some RGN's. If I had ramps I would like to try a 7 speed with a deep under four way on lifting the trailer without getting a run at it.
I knew Robinson ordered round quads on their B models for years. It is the white with blue A model I was inquiring about. 5&4or a dial a gear? Out of curiosity. If you have low enough gears and on asphalt is it possible to get the neck up on the ramps and the fifth wheel?
It was a gas truck out of KC originally she had a 8V92 RTO12513 and 3;73 rears, totally usless on hills, I had the 1693 laying around so I cut out the firewall and rivited in an enclosure from a 71 KW setback axle and put in the 1693, plenty of power! but the rears didn't like it, broke the transfer gears several times, Reverse gears were fine for lifting the neck up, but in loose material you had to use high range reverse to get it up, the 8V92 never broke anything, but the 1693 did very easy!
I believe she dropped a valve or a seat, it happens with these heads, although I have only had one do this before and I caught it during an inframe when I removed the valve the seat feel out! I have three spare heads so I will probably fix her, The B Model has round lights from the factory, as Robinson ordered them that way, so I wasn't sure what you were asking, or if you knew it was a B with round lights
I STILL think you'll louse right around (after the money counting and hauling to the bank or burying in the back yard is over) and put Kenny to blowing smoke again! You're like me in you can just look at something that's near and dear to your heart that needs fixing for so long and not do it. See how you are! Me too!
You can crank up the fuel but you will pay the price if you go to far it will start to crack the pistons starting from the piston plug outward, One of the problems trying to hop up a Pre-Cup engine, mine would peg the boost gauge at 30 psi thats about the limit for fuel. They will run 2450 RPM thats way different than my C15
My condolences. I never realised the poor old girl was handicapped with a Cat donk. Looking at the output of the stacks, I originally thought that maybe no one there knew how to do a hot tap tune of a Cummins, then I saw the puddy tat logo. Next to a cripple five, a cat is a great way to convert diesel to noise.
