This should play in public spaces for those who aren't sure what to do with the mad that they feel.

This is the song that Mr. Rogers recited the words of when he was appealing for continued funding for public television in 1969. You'll gladly find that testimony here on RUclips.

I think the song clearly shows his brilliance when it came to songwriting. Also, he made a lyric change over time by replacing the word "lady" with "woman" at the end of the song.

It's funny to me that this song is still being played on PBS to this day. Just what he would have wanted.

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood should never stop being rerun. His programs need to be shown to children of all future generations.

They play a butchered version of it. Apparently, he told the truth in the last two lines.
There are some people who would contend with the scientific statement Mr. Rogers said in those last two lines.

@@CrossOfBayonne But why? It's not my fault! The young liberals leftists and stupid idiot Democrats in the U.S. are so so bad and out of touch with right and wrong that's the main reason!!!!! The other is that the constitution should have been rewritten to state: Freedom is to do what you're suppose to do instead of doing what you want to do, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you do with the mad that you feel
When you feel so mad you could bite?
When the whole wide world seems oh, so wrong...
And nothing you do seems very right?
What do you do? Do you punch a bag?
Do you pound some clay or some dough?
Do you round up friends for a game of tag?
Or see how fast you go?
It's great to be able to stop
    When you've planned a thing that's wrong,
And be able to do something else instead
    And think this song:
I can stop when I want to
    Can stop when I wish
I can stop, stop, stop any time.
And what a good feeling to feel like this
And know that the feeling is really mine.
Know that there's something deep inside
That helps us become what we can.
For a girl can be someday a lady
And a boy can be someday a man.

I got out of a really bad relationship recently, I tried my best to make it work, but… things sometimes don’t work no matter how hard you work, I do miss them, and it angers me quite, because I was the one to get out and I should have enough control to stop myself, but dang it just seems so wrong to not be with someone you’ve been with for years. I come here to remember that I can stop myself, that this moment will pass, I can do something else instead, that this is what I need. Shout out to all my heart broken people out there, don’t text your exe’s!

I’m going through the same thing right now… childhood best friends of ten years- then dated for almost two.. and they stabbed me in the back, ripped my heart out, and then tried to play victim and turn me into the bad guy. Even their friends who I’ve barely talked to before this are on my side in this situation… that should tell you something.
My heart is broken and I keep vacillating between pure rage and just face-clawing emptiness. I lost both my longest, dearest friend and the love of my life at once.
But I’ve been trying to rationalize it like Mister Rogers would by picturing him explaining that sometimes people grow apart, and it’s alright.
This song still definitely applies, though.

Saw a book on display at my public library on Mister Rogers by Maxwell King - decided to pay a visit to this song in curiosity after I finished reading it. I'm 24, so I was only able to be his neighbor probably from 1994'' or whenever I was coherent - 01, but I always admired his self-discipline and respect, perhaps he is the reason why I consider myself more reserved in nature.
