I feel so bad for CIG because of this ship. This ship is a stealth sniper. It has a low ammo count. So it needs to get one shot kills to be useful. Which is fine, except for one major problem. One shots aren't always fun for the other side. So, CIG keeps implementing techniques to give the eclipse target a chance to evade, dodge, or get away. The problem is, that this is a stealth ship. So, anything they do to give them a chance defeats the purpose of this ship. Making the eclipse a problem ship, anything they do to balance it defeats the point of the ship.
It also renders any ship that needs more than 5 or so people a huge risk to crew... Why spend £1200 on a Polaris and get 8 people together when 4 people in 4 eclipses can flat out nuke you with zero warning and zero risk for a lot less cost running the numbers, it takes 10 torpedoes to kill a shielded Idris so you need 4 eclipse, and you can miss 2 torpedoes, or they can shoot two down and the bombers still win

I hate that CIG changed the lock on ranges again. combined with how slow they made them hitting anything is almost impossible. even if a bigger ship cant outrun one of them they will def have plenty of time to shoot them down.
You don't realize how claustrophobic the cockpit is until you actually sit in it. It is horrible! It was my first ship in the game and I immediately sold it!
I want this ship so bad, but it would be my only ship with my 350 dollars on the website, i woud need to melt my 3 other ship. i'm stuck in a constant wondering 😅
I think the ship is great, but €300 for three torpedoes is way over the top... for that money I can almost get a ship with 6 tropedoes, towers, beds, etc. For 200€ with maybe slightly better weapons I think it would be ok.
you did not mention the crippleing nerf of minimum engagment distance of 5 kilomiters. players can get up, have a sandwich take a piss then come back and deal with the torp, this ship is now useless for bounties/pvp now. If you like throwing 10 GRAND torps at NPCs knock yourself out. But they murdered my boi here. Sad to see.
I still have no issues blowing up player or NPC ships with the 5km Min lock. So long as you boost to max speed before shooting the torp they only have a few seconds to react. Not to mention the warning they get from a torp is the same as a missile so most people just try and drop noise/flares which don't work against the torps the majority of the time.
Technically you can FIRE at any range, even point blank. Its the lock that requires said distance. However firing your torps unguided is only recommended at very short distance against a large, slow and predictable target. And for this I'd rather use a Retaliator as it is way more durable and has more torpedoes.
ACTUALLY it is a good "Game Design" Decision (pro Eclipse here). Yes before it was possible to engage / fire at 1km with Argos (250m/s) with mach 3.00 in space , but it was too EZ PEZ to destroy everyone (medium fighter too). Missiles gameplay still in WIP. Torpedo have weird statistic but the phillosophy is there... God speed 07 , DCS Dad Player
even more useless now with the automatic counter measures on all the ships you need to use this one against. after the CM changes 2 years ago or so now, torps only worked if ppl werent paying attention and didnt flare. and your only target options were c2 and caterpillars. now you are down to the cat as the c2 has 1 auto turret and the polaris is absolutely untouchable. and they still havent fixed and updated the cockpit either. at this point not worth the in game money either
Nah Polaris isn't "untouchable" u just need to fire all 3 torps at once. PDS will kill the first one but the other 2 will hit if they got dumped all together. Still won't be a kill since Polaris got more hp than those 2 torps do dmg tho.🤷🏻♂️ so yeah, not worth the money atm!

I hate that CIG changed the lock on ranges again. combined with how slow they made them hitting anything is almost impossible. even if a bigger ship cant outrun one of them they will def have plenty of time to shoot them down.
Hundreds of blown up player ships sized from corsairs and up says they aren't that bad to use still.
Love it
You don't realize how claustrophobic the cockpit is until you actually sit in it. It is horrible! It was my first ship in the game and I immediately sold it!
I want this ship so bad, but it would be my only ship with my 350 dollars on the website, i woud need to melt my 3 other ship. i'm stuck in a constant wondering 😅
Just get it in game.
@@jakeseward9035 8 millions just for a this is a no no xD, for the same price i can get a all my current ship and more in game
ok hear me out, we need an aegis smedium ship that is a mix between an eclipse and a zeus.
nice
Omg, a RUclipsr who pronounces Aegis correctly.
As a Canadian, can I call it Eh-gis?
@@JL-rj9fl 😆🚩
@@JL-rj9fl Anything is better than how CR and Sandy used to pronounce it as "uh-GEE-us" 😅
I always just assumed that they HAD to be trolling.
I think the ship ai ingame even says ay-jis
@@ceb1970 Oh no, I think I remember this. 😅
I think the ship is great, but €300 for three torpedoes is way over the top... for that money I can almost get a ship with 6 tropedoes, towers, beds, etc.
For 200€ with maybe slightly better weapons I think it would be ok.
I agree the price outside of the game is a tad too high.
The damn thing is more expensive than a Corsair.
you did not mention the crippleing nerf of minimum engagment distance of 5 kilomiters.
players can get up, have a sandwich take a piss then come back and deal with the torp, this ship is now useless for bounties/pvp now.
If you like throwing 10 GRAND torps at NPCs knock yourself out. But they murdered my boi here.
Sad to see.
Hopefully torpedoes get another balance pass with the release of the Polaris, 5km min distance is a bit tough given the engagement ranges.

You just don't know how tu use a stealth bomber if you engage under 5km
First
You didnt talk abt the fact that torps are 100% unusable in 3.24.x cuz they just miss some non mooving big ships sooo...
even more useless now with the automatic counter measures on all the ships you need to use this one against. after the CM changes 2 years ago or so now, torps only worked if ppl werent paying attention and didnt flare. and your only target options were c2 and caterpillars. now you are down to the cat as the c2 has 1 auto turret and the polaris is absolutely untouchable. and they still havent fixed and updated the cockpit either. at this point not worth the in game money either
@@Fotomoloman thats false. it literally takes out 4 torps, often while they are still in the tube and blows them in your face. the only option is to dumb fire them into the ship and then it takes 4 full hits to disable it. talk less, test more
@@johndonovan7018 Guess what i did the last days when all the Polaris owners entered the PU? You better get an Eclipse first before talking bs. And how is the Polaris supposed to shoot the torps while they're in the Tube? Looks like you're not even knowing how to use the torpedos and the ship right if you're operating it in PDS range of the Polaris🤦♂️
@@Fotomolomanpeople don't even use stealth and cry they can't hit torpedo, and you are not meant to kill a polaris alone with a single eclipse anyway, its a small squad job, 3 eclipse 9 torps hitting at the same moment so the pdc can't catch them all
@@Keiser-h4z Where have i said that a single Eclipse is, or sould be able to kill a Polaris? I only said that a Polaris is NOT untouchable when you're doing the job right. Ofc a capital size ship is not meant to be taken down by a single seater torpedo Bomber, but it's not that impossible only bc a lot of people are doing it wrong and the server performance is at times just too bad and laggy for the whole system to work properly.🤷🏻♂️
