What I love about your reviews compared to every other content creator is that you look specifically at the ship and it’s intended role, not comparing it to every single ship or hitting it for not being a do-it-all. Not every ship should do everything, and those that do should not be the best at those tasks.
exactly! like i was watching a video on it the other day and the dude was comparing it to an arrow, like yes bor of course an arrow is going to kill it its a HEAVY fighter
Have fun with the family! The pace you've been posting high quality content has been crazy. Really appreciate the care and detail you put into every video.
I got one of these a couple of days ago, is an absolute BRRRTing monster! Also, as you do not have energy weapons, being able to set all your energy to the shields makes them resist way more and regenerare faster, so it really becomes an A-10, a flying tank with a big deathly gun hehe
Something that I think is worth mentioning. The quad racks of Viper III missiles can be replaced with racks of 8 size 2 missiles, 2 size 4 missiles, or a single size 5 torpedo. This means that you can run with 12 size 3 missiles and 16 size 2 missiles, 20 size 3 missiles, 12 size 3 missiles and 4 size 4 missiles, or 12 size 3 missiles and 2 size 5 torpedoes.
I agree the Inferno is in s mich better place than the Ion right now. Also you can swap the inner two missile racks to get a pair of size 5s or get 16 size 2s while the two outer racks are bespoke. That does let you operate as a quasi torpedo or missile ship before you close in to finish off with the size 7.
@@MustardSkaven not really, but it is still in a better spot than the Ion as it's gun has 2x the range and higher damage as long as the ammo doesn't run out...honestly both ships need more work but if the two the Ion is in the worst position.
I watch your videos repeatedly.. Your Approach to reviewing is polished and feels professional and the sound quality is excellent. I have this ship. A lot of players do not know you can put 2 size 5 missiles on her and still have 12 size 3 missiles 😉. Go to Orison and pick up the missile racks at the Crusader showroom (and the size 5's)
Bought this a few days ago, been great - i usually fly with other pilots so in that sense it really speeds up the kill times when doing ERTs or Vaugh missions. One thing to note is you can swap out the missile racks, so you can run a couple of S5 torpedos! Agree with the lack of main gun ammo.. could certainly do with an extra 1/2k ammo.
I love the Inferno for the earlier bounties especially when you dont worry about looting the targets. Used mine all the way up to VHRT´s basically. Thanks for the review, keep them coming!
Inferno was the first step into heavy fighters for me and that thing was beautiful. The only reason I don't have it now is wanting to snag cargo out of my bounties.
I'm not a fan of ballistics, in general, because I don't like being _required_ to go back and rearm so often. I prefer to rearm whenever I either stop to repair, or when I call it a night. Though, I do usually fill the bespoke missile racks with Dominator IIs, then put a pair of Scimitar Vs in the other other two racks. It's fun. So, like you, I've got the Ares Ion. And it sucks right now. I tried using it at XenoThreat against the Idris. I also took out my 600i. The 600i did more damage, and was easier to keep on target when fighting the Idris. So... I'm keeping my Ares Ion... but in mothballs for now. Not sure what I'd take it out for but right now, the Ares sucks going after... ships. It doesn't matter what size. It just sucks for ship-to-ship combat. Which... is kind of a problem.
This thing looks the part of evil monster. It also is giving me an idea of what other size 7 ballistics can do, be them gatling or cannon. Just wish I knew for sure what the perseus has, but I think I read somewhere cannons. All hail the ares inferno though.
I got into this ship specifically because of it's relation to the warthog. I wish it handled better which would lend to better survivability, but it definitely hits hard.
Hi EvenLease, love ur vids man! This is my go to channel for SC ships. Any chance you making a tier list per patch, would be very helpfull to know what ship is viable or not in one overview and then the hop over to the actual ship vid. On top of that it would also be helpfull i think (for myself and many new players) to hear what the ships are meant for: PvE/PvP, LRT, MRT, ERT etc ... ps. I bought the Ion before i got to know ur channel, yeah don't ask me how that went :)
Especially with engineering on the horizon, I really feel like the Ares ships should really be a 2-crew ship. Hear me out! The back end already looks like it could be a ramp, just make the back section a reloading station like in any armed military vehicle. No bed, no toilet, no sink. Ammo bins, ammo loader and part of the s7 gun exposed to the interior. One jump seat and pre-baked animations for all the loader controls like moving ammo, linking/unlinking/etc. no so real “interior” but a “station” for a second player who can not only load, giving balance to the gun and maybe making it as powerful as it SHOULD be, to make repairs to vastly stretch it’s lifespan giving the Ares time to do its job.
To justify an entire human’s playtime, I think it would need to be a second cockpit seat that can slide back on a rail and turn. In the cockpit mode they should be an alternate gunner (pilot or copilot can fire), able to scan/set up precision mode, set waypoints, etc. supposedly the ship is meant to be a powerful scanner. Multicrew is wildly underpowered atm. It needs to be a complete experience rivaling piloting to be worthwhile. So I’m down for all your suggestions, I think they just need to go further. I’d really like to see multicrew play some role in stealth approaches. Perhaps passive scanners that tell them estimated detection range, or some sort of ewar/jamming interaction to buy extra approach time. Maybe a bespoke system to run the ship closer by dumping ship emissions into a heatsink that must be managed and jettisoned before ship damage, etc
This looks SO much like the leaked sketch awhile back of an upcoming starter ship. Really makes me wonder about the sketch and the potential new ship - Ares starter "soon"(tm)?
There's no way this would ever be put in the game, but watching this got my imagination spinning... Imagine starting with something like an A1... throw the Inferno weapon on one side and the Ion weapon on the other side. Instead of 10 drop-bombs, you have 3 of those types of ordinance on one side of the main hold and on the other side, instead you have 3 torpedoes ready to go. By removing those 2 drop tubes from both sides of the bay, that frees up quite a bit of space in the back. This is just a guess, but I estimate that each freed zone could fit one of those big cube cargo boxes, I think 8-SCU? I'm thinking of that as a module area/volume measurement. If you put a theoretical "cargo module" in both those spots, that would be 16-SCU you could also carry, or something like an STV or ROC or such. Other modules that could go in there could be things like a med bed, computer banks for data storage/hacking, a bounty holding cell, a scanning module dedicated for finding jump points... there's a lot that could go in there for various modules. It will never happen, but it's a fun thought experiment lol.
It's in a good place at the moment, could I do with a few more rounds though, i've definitely ran out of ammo before finishing HRT's. I feel restocking should be needed after 2-3 engagements not every engagement. That being said, ammo needs a buff across the whole game.
Good ship with M tools. Maybe scanning (detect ships on verse) advantage also later on roadmap. Have a nice holiday with your family. Do not make speed run :)
your smashing these out, its been helpful as. im wanting to buy a new ship, and these reviews are helping me decide. btw how much do you expect the retaliators modules to cost you think
Murai Guardian, 67K HP.... That ship iss a good competitor for thesse sships s and ssame price, loossess 4 S3 misssiless, but... gains interior living quarters, armor locker (though the Inferno does get a rack) and both get good cocpits... Murai Guardian is a prety sship though... and a bit faster, bu tnot muich. bit more maneufverable. I want the Ion to be good.
The ion next? Because it's basically a proton torpedo launcher it maybe only 6k damage but it's not the worst Does need more optimal though. Would feel nice if the bolts lasted till 3-5k to allow it to be a sniper. awesome video bro!!
I have this spaceship and I'm using a keyboard and mouse. How do you achieve smooth aiming? Is it through in-game settings, mouse DPI, or do you use flight joysticks?
Enjoyed the video, and I miss my Ion too. Would have loved to see you do at least a VHRT as those tend to be the size and class of ship it's intended for, as quite a few ships can easily destroy without any risk the ships you were shooting, so the Inferno is overkill for them.
I completely feel you, and I'm only on HRTs because I'm enjoying doing them in a Vulture with one of the hoverbikes, as it is less boring/repetitive than doing it in a stronger ship, with the random drugs/cargo or scraping for RMC. I might try for VHRTs but the grind to get there now makes it so you get tired of it by the time you arrive, and if you have a ship that can o it you don't really need the auec for another one. :D
Absolutely love the Inferno, but what I don’t like is circle strafing a big ship for what feels like an eternity, especially with the cooldown mechanic it has now. Recently melted mine and bought my Eclipse back. Easy in and out without being seen. Much better for solo, but a bit boring.
the last 2 day i think to buy in game the ares for pvp bounty but is true i see the vanguard too so i don't know what the ship to buy lol thanks for the good review like always maybe i take the ares
You're releasing video after video, don't overwork. As for the ship itself, I tested it in HRT and it kicks ass... when there's no shield but with the shield the damage reduction are kinda annoying(but fair). If one day CIG adds missiles to destroy the shields like with the distortion cannons, it'll be a good thing!
I'd be cautious about buying it right now, they changed the weapon heat model which directly nerfed the Inferno into oblivion by causing the weapon to overheat after 77 rounds, causing its DPS to plummet. I bought the ship a few days ago before the change was made and I'm considering getting a refund. It's a massive shame because I was having a lot of fun with it. They should (hopefully) buff it, but you could be waiting a while before they get around to that.
I melted both my Ion and Inferno. I just got tired of them constantly nerfing and making them useless. The whole point of having "bespoke" weapons was supposed to be that while you were stuck with one weapon, that weapon was supposed to outperform it's more versatile contemporaries. The don't. And every time they finally get useful or fun, CIG goes out of it's way to ruin them again. The Ion's charge mechanic is terrible, useless and not fun. And while the Inferno did keep "most" of it's DPS (it did take a small hit to total output), that damage potential is nerfed across the board due to the 50%+ base ballistics resistance they've applied to every ship in the game. Tie that with the addition of 20-30% shield absorption for ballistics too, then that becomes at worst 80% damage loss to ballistics to at best 50% damage loss when the shields are down. Which means that nice spicy 4271 DPS the Inferno is supposed to have, instead becomes more like around 2135 DPS. Add the overheat mechanic that's recently been added on top of that and everything has just become a really bad day for the Ion and the Inferno. Admittedly, the Inferno has faired a lot better than the Ion, but the nerfs to it's effectiveness has significantly degraded it's performance too. I mean think about it. If every ship in the game now has at least a 50% base resistance to the Inferno's only weapon, that means the Inferno is now half as effective as it's supposed to be, no matter who it engages. And it's not like the Inferno has any penetration values it can rely on to overcome that roadblock. It's supposed to. CIG have only been promising we would see "something" about armor make it's way in to the game for well over a decade. But here we. Still with nothing armor related, and an Inferno with a DPS output most haven't realized is currently only hitting for half it's rated value "at most", because CIG new people would throw a fit if they halved the DPS value on the Inferno itself. And because it's a bespoke weapon, it's not like you can just swap it out. And even if you swap to the Ion, you're even worse off , because that ship is now useless. The Ares ships have spent more time in my hangar as paper weights than they've had as viable ships. Nerfing them immediately after the initial launch sale. Then, well over a year and half (I think almost two years later) they were finally made fun again, only to be immediately nerfed again even worse than before now with master modes. So I gave up. Those ships are too expensive to be that worthless. It is beyond ridiculous for CIG to charge $200-$250 each for those ships and then constantly gimp them because CIG is too afraid to allow their customers to have fun with the product they sold. The Ares is a lost cause as far as I'm concerned. If you want to spend that kind of money on a ship, there are far better and more powerful ships you can buy for the same to near enough the same price. Like the Drake Corsair, RSI Scorpius, RSI Constellation Andromeda, Vanguard Warden or Sentinel etc. All of those are better and far more versatile options than either of the Ares. Sorry EvenLease, I disagree. I agree the Ion is currently useless. But I disagree the Inferno is a 10/10. I've now melted them both. I've chosen to melt instead of using them as an LTI token (almost used them as tokens), so I'm leaving the door open to getting them back if CIG ever decide to stop the BS antics with the Ares and make them actually viable again. Barring that though, I'm just glad they're gone and I can use that value to get something I will actually fly.
I hate this ship because I was killed so often by griefers waiting on OM points, killing me instantly. This is one of the ships with no real downsides. I would give it a 12/10 yes, this means: I think it is overpowered.
Outdoor activities? What's that? Why would you want to go OUT THERE?!?! It's dangerous out there. There are no walls. There are bugs and hairy things that bite and sting! For heaven's sake man, don't go!
Gun should be centerline for mass reasons, would be much cooler if the cockpit was off to the side al-la millennium falcon, or bulbous above the gun. As it is it's a hard pass. Good for gameplay reasons not good reasons.

I usually just put 16 Rattlers in to deal with light fighters
you became my favorite star citizen youtuber overnight lol, love the vids keep up the good work :)
For this ship as for the Warden the idea is to be able to go to distant theaters of operation. That's why he has so much fuel.
You are what I watch every morning like someone watching the news! Keep up the good work!

They changed the ion to be a charged weapon more like a sniper rifle. Less DPS but hits very hard per charged shot
Rechargeable Laser Pointer had me rolling 😂 That will be the name of my next ship.

Someone's gotta do a commercial for their favourite ship from SC with the Matthew McConaughey Lincoln commercial voice over man
drake cutter or origin 300i xD
Would have to be an origin or crusader ship
I'm Soo glad you did a review this is in my opinion the best single pilot heavy fighter.
Nice Review :) to the point no BS
I love the inferno so much it’s my most used fighter
Solid review !
We need a light fighter from Crusader!

I love that ship its one of about 8 ships i own. it my fav of them all
Thank you for making this video. The quality of the video images is great. What settings are you using?
yeees thats what im talking about now I'm behind you lol
I got into this ship specifically because of it's relation to the warthog. I wish it handled better which would lend to better survivability, but it definitely hits hard.
Have you tried flying this decoupled, while in combat? It might have a little bit more maneuverability for what you’re looking for.
in your opinion what is the best heavy fighter?
Hi EvenLease, love ur vids man! This is my go to channel for SC ships.
They should definitely be two seater. They're more than big enough for it

Love the manufacturer of this ship…
Ion to be viable needs a bonus modifier to shield and do maybe 2x to 3x damage to shields and then have a negative effect against armor for balance
Great video
Inferno in 3.24 hits like a truck but still nothing like it use to, unfortunately friend of mine had the ion and it blows ass
Have it, love it! I hope they bring the ion back because who doesn't love a giant Lazer cannon right?
I bought this ship in game it's amazing but you have to watch your shields and run away to charge them, i absolutely love it

would love to see a ares varient with 2 size 5s or some size 4 guns.
Good ship with M tools. Maybe scanning (detect ships on verse) advantage also later on roadmap. Have a nice holiday with your family. Do not make speed run :)
Ares Series is the A10 of Star Citizen if used correctly. Think about it.
Hell yeah I love the Inferno
Bruh, how do you get the blurry backgrounds on some of these shots? Looks super profesh.
dude keep up the reviews and if you don't have something ask me man. don't have much though.
your smashing these out, its been helpful as. im wanting to buy a new ship, and these reviews are helping me decide. btw how much do you expect the retaliators modules to cost you think
Really hard to say as we’ve never had modules available before in-game as they are new. But I would bet none of them go over 300k initially.
Murai Guardian, 67K HP.... Great content. LFG
man, i want to play this game right now but i have my exams so need to wait for a bit longer....
Like this ship overall.
Design is awesome
love the ares, unfortunally it got a nerf. so i hardly use it anymore.

I love this ship, I do hate that overheating bull. That's why I sold mine. In PVP. It's worthless with that overheating issue.
Is it possible to use the ion's white livery on the inferno?
Is it possible to sulvigde these space station pieces?
Absolutely love the Inferno, but what I don’t like is circle strafing a big ship for what feels like an eternity, especially with the cooldown mechanic it has now. Recently melted mine and bought my Eclipse back. Easy in and out without being seen. Much better for solo, but a bit boring.
the last 2 day i think to buy in game the ares for pvp bounty but is true i see the vanguard too so i don't know what the ship to buy lol
thanks for the good review like always maybe i take the ares
I like this ship, but the ION was better.
The NERF saw to that however.
Now I LOVE this ship!
I see they changed the explosion?

This ship is so bizarre xD its like the a10 of star citizen take a gun and build a flying frame for it
U even mentioned it xD 3:00
Sad it doesnt have the BRRRRRRTTT sound. CIG had one job.
yeah CIG doesnt believe in fun gameplay, only balanced boring
I like that ship very useful to defend corpmates against griefers
I love this ship but the gun doesn't sound beefy enough for me
o7 the ION will have a buff on the gun , less recharge time and shooting time ! As all laser repeaters ! 👌 o7
Alright. I’ve been curious about this ship been putting on and off my cart for a week.
Here when you need me the most!
@@EvenLease44it’s either this or buying my scorpius back so we will see
Hell yea!!!
Ship go Brrrr
Im always afraid of them nerfing the Inferno. I feel like its a very well balanced ship but some people seem to think its op.
Usually it's the light fighter mains who cry about it, but since it hasn't been nerfed by now I don't see a reason why they would in the future
I love my Inferno, I hate though that 1 out of 3 engagements end with some AI pilot crashing into me tearing my wing off because fuck me I guess
I thought ballistics just went through shields in Star Citizen
Inferno goes brrrrrrt 😅 pirate ship what pirate ship I just see shredded metal
Evenlease: I won’t mention this ships ugly sister the Ion
Me: [flying my Ion at that moment] 😮
I want this ship so bad eventually I'll upgrade my buck to it when I have $200 to waste on upgrading it lol
A10 Thunderbolt II space edition
🤔still debating on this ship maybe I will buy it in game after 4.0 launches

I would give it a 12/10
yes, this means: I think it is overpowered.
It's my dream ship. #inferno
Youre in the honeymoon phase. Give it about a year and you'll learn. Seen it 100 times with 100 different friends and content creators.
This ship looks like it has a attitude problem
Outdoor activities? What's that? Why would you want to go OUT THERE?!?! It's dangerous out there. There are no walls. There are bugs and hairy things that bite and sting! For heaven's sake man, don't go!

Gun spool up time too slow.
Gun should be centerline for mass reasons, would be much cooler if the cockpit was off to the side al-la millennium falcon, or bulbous above the gun. As it is it's a hard pass. Good for gameplay reasons not good reasons.
Are you giving this monster ship away?!? Me! I need it🥲
